First generation Monkee fan. I'll ALWAYS LOVE them. Their music makes me so happy. Nearly 70 years old and I listen to them everyday!
My father used to say my music wouldn't last. The songs I select for my videos prove to me that he was wrong. Having said that, I'm very fussy as to what I consider worth keeping. Even for my favorite artists,
Our music will be here long after we're gone.😊
I'm 57, cought the Good Monkey Pox from my older sisters..I'm heavy metal and punk rock, but..I love this..💞😎🇺🇸
Me too. My sister and I would dance around the living room when the show was on. I'm 59 and she is 62. We were 3 and 6 back in 66. Mike is still my favorite singer and Davy was the beast looking 😍
My favorite has always been Davy. However, when I started watching the MONKEES shows again and replacing my albums that are who knows where; I fell in love with them all. They were so well cast. The chemistry is amazing! I recently saw Micky in concert for the HEADQUARTERS TOUR, I'm still on a wonderful high from it. I'll be having my picture taken with him in September here in Orlando. I may never come down!❤️❤️❤️
People can say what they want to say but I will NEVER outgrow my appeal for their music.
Love your choices. The Monkees Music was so much better than they were ever truly given credit for. They were all talented and attractive Men but I must admit my favourite was always Mike. So happy we still have Mickey and he is in good health👍 RIP Davy, Peter and Mike🌹
I'm 65 still listening to the Monkees love them
62, still doing the same - when I was 13/14 used to watch the Monkees episodes and record the songs using an old Grundig reel to reel (size of an air brick) and BASF tape reels; it feels like yesterday👍
❤ Got my first Monkees album when I was 10, I don't remember if it was for my birthday or Christmas, but my parents were always guaranteed I'd love my present!
While most girls it seems had a crush on Davy, it was Michael for me. And 57 years later that opinion has never changed.
I still have all my albums. I really ought to play them some time and see what kind of shape they're in. I have them all on CD now of course. The music has withstood the test of time, except for a few of Davy's ballads, the songs really don't sound dated at all. And they're Great for driving. Took a ride in the country a couple weeks ago, (2003 Mustang convertible) brought all my CDs and made it a Monkees drive. Top down and 75°, it was absolutely wonderful. I love our country roads here in Wisconsin. You can keep turning down roads you've never been on before, but eventually, you'll end up somewhere you recognize or on one of the main county trunks.
I highly recommend it 😊, good for the soul. NOT good for your wallet. Going for drives just for the fun of it costs a lot more these days,
Thanks Biden 🤬 And of course the Mustang takes premium. 💰💰💰
Oh well, gas prices are fluid.
🎶🎶🎶 This is a good compilation, thanks for sharing it. 🎶🎶🎶
SO TRUE especially about Mike :) my fave since I was three in 1966! You won't believe how kind Michael Nesmith was to me- do you want to hear what he did? AMAZING KIND CARING GUY! LOVE HIM!!!! FOREVER! Kimberly oh, and P.S.: you are right about BIDEN! :{ !!!!!
I am 69 and I love all the guys! We had a happy childhood with the Monkees on TV each week! The ride with each of them has been awesome 😎😊😅❤
I cannot express how much I dig these tunes and these gifted artists!! I have loved them literally most of my life, and that love grows .........This is a groovy collection!!! Great pick!! Thanks!! RIP DAVY, MIKE AND PETER
I'm 69 and I listen every evening before I go to sleep! I think Mike wrote the music too! I like his texas voice! Sing it Micky, with your great voice and Davy sings and then Peter! Well all together they were the Monkees and we loved them then and now!
Studying for my finals listening to this music! Music in my grandparent's generation was hands-down better than the stuff my generation has to offer.
Interesting comment. From my perspective, the quality of "popular" music peaked around the 70's in terms of creativity and beauty. Good music remained as in some of my other videos, but it became progressively harder to find.
I agree! Music quality isn’t what it used to be.
Love these guys since I was 7 years old still listening when I am 64 and loving it
Love these guys since I was 5 sitting in front of TV! ❤❤❤
This song is like a bolt of lightning with Nez ripping thru the clouds!!! WOW!!! Love this!!!
Nice Post--Whatever The Monkees were/are----impressive body of work--and deserve a place in the RRHOF
Always 💕 them at 65 still listening to them
I remember Mickey in the show Circus Boy. If you ever watch the Monkees episode takes place at a circus, he's humming the theme song of Circus Boy & just can't remember where he heard it.,.hmmm. Love the sky dig
THE MONKEES IS WONDERFUL!!!! SHOW!!!! ELES CONTRIBUÍRAM MUITO COM SUAS BELAS CANÇÕES E RITMOS!!! GRANDES ARTISTAS DO POP!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you !! I've been a Monkee fan forever; since the 70's. Completely regretting not going to a concert years ago
Mickey, Davy, Peter and Mike . . .
My forever beach troubadour boy band.

The first Monkees song I heard on the radio was "Tapioca Tundra " and at that time I thought it sounded different compared to other stuff I've heard before. I was about 12 at the time. I'm 67 now.
In 1966, I spotted The Monkee's debut album on display in the local grocery store. I brought my mother over to it and pointed at it. She usually said "No!" to everything.
But somehow she gave in this time.
I still have it in mint condition. I play it once a year. I think maybe the cover appealed to her.
🦓
I’m 66, and the first Monkees song I heard on the radio was “Last Train To Clarksville” and then “Theme From The Monkees” which I also heard on the TV show. I’m wondering how you could be a year older than me and have “Tapioca Tundra” as your first Monkees song. Weren’t you allowed to watch TV or are you referring strictly to the first Monkees song you heard on radio?
Now I’m going to Google “Tapioca Tundra” ‘cause I don’t remember it at all. I remember the title, but not the song.
I was always into the songs Nesmith sang, whether he wrote them or not. Dolenz was the next most interesting singer in the band. Jones’s stuff was always saccharine pablum as far as I was concerned, with a few notable exceptions; “Daydream Believer,” “Valery,” and “Look Out, Here Comes Tomorrow.”
Me too and I adore the Monkees!!! Always have!!!
I love that song.
Nice compilation
Some of my favorites!
Much appreciated.
It took a long time to get through the article shown while the music played, and in a way I'm sorry I read it. So much tension, dissatisfaction, arguments, bad feelings, and bad management, etc, even over who played what instrument. Kind of popped my balloon of feel good songs. I think I'm just going to put it out of my mind, and go back to being the 12 year old kid who loved the TV show (!) and knows the lyrics to just about every song. There's something to be said about childlike innocence.
I'm sorry about that. Its what I do for all of my music videos and I guess a lot of what goes on behind the scenes is not happy. Badfinger is one of the worst examples with a couple of tragic suicides. Another bad one is the lady who sings the best song on Pink Floyd's "Dark side of the Moon". She was paid very little for her stunning performance and PF refused to give her a bonus when they made their fortune from the album. But that's life, isn't it, not what is seems on the surface. In spite of all this, we have such wonderful music to enjoy and be uplifted by from the era.
BY FAR my all-time favorite song of theirs is SATURDAY'S CHILD.
That's a great choice, a very underrated song. Its a close call for me, with "Look out" in particular pressing hard. Good to see someone who "knows what he likes".
Boyce and Hart write the best songs.
They certainly did write several Monkees songs. Looks like I got two, "She" and favorite, " Words".
Rip Tommy Boyce
Amazing song writers great song.. I haven't heard this song in so long.
micky still ticking, heres to the memory of the rest.. mike, davey and peter, the 🐒🐒🐒🐒s .. 👍
LONG LIVE MICKEY.
I loved them all, but Mickey was my favorite.
The Monkees...Forever in my heart ❤️
Quality stands the test of time!! It surprises me how good songs like these still sound, after all of these years.
There is a warm sunshiney childhood joy these songs evoke in me..a taste of Heaven i suppose. Listening to this selection is helping me to reconnect to a joy i lost somewhere along the way.
I was maybe 10 and my older sister was into the Beatles and Monkees. Of course we watched that show on tv. It took years before I really understood the songs. But looking back, they were great songs. The tv show was stupid, though. I knew that right away.😂
So many shows are stupid. I came across an early Beatles skit (non-,musical) the other day which was so embarrassing. Some things don't age well. But thankfully as you say, several Monkees songs have.
Yes,a lot of the shows were dumb but they did have a few that were good, taught a couple good "life lessons". Sooo in love with Davy!
Their show was FABULOULSY FUNNY and showed their commeraderie, caring, and love for each other as friends. It was very funny humour!
Their music is timeless
Love, 'Take a Giant Step' and 'Sweet Young Thing.' Goosebumps! Nice selection.
Thanks. Glad you liked those songs as I thought I might have "over-rated" the first album. Its interesting to see who wrote the songs we like. In this case, both songs were by Carol King and Gerry Goffin with Michael Nesmith also named with "Sweet young thing". This information can be found on a wonderful website called "Discogs". They have complete discographies of all records including those issued in various cpuntries. Not all include the song writer details so you have to look at a selection. Here is the one I found for the Monkees that includes all song writers. www.discogs.com/release/4234748-The-Monkees-The-Monkees
@@60sfanatic The debut album was great with those two cuts as well as Papa Genes Blues, Last Train to Clarksville. Thanks for the Discogs tip.
wow! The brain is an amazing thing. I had all the albums . the only one I do not remember is 6 and probably because it was spoken.. but the others! singing right along! and Look Out... of course that was Neil Diamond! thanks for the share!😀
Thanks, glad you enjoyed.
All are my favorites. I don't know any song of theirs that I don't love. This is great. I'm trying to replace the albums I had as a young girl. ❤️❤️❤️
God do I love these guys music!!!!!!! So many good songs!!!! Great music and boy can they sing! I grew up with them. Loved them then and love them now!!!!!!! Awesome!!!!!!!! I never stop listening to the oldie they did! They will be up on Heaven singing for the angels. I will forever love you guys ! I love to sing alone and dance to your music in my kitchen. Your the best of the best! Remembered by me forever!!!! Loved by me!!!!💖 Robin McCaul from Mass.
This album remember me when I was a child. They 1966 at 1968. Other world Wonderful !!!
I love Mike's voice! I think I am a rock-country girl
I got there albums and watch there show on TV
... their (heir, person), there (here, location)
Great selection.
In response to previous comment. I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree 100%. I feel exactly the SAME WAY.
My 10 favorite songs from those 4 albums:
Saturday’s Child
Let’s Dance On
She
Your Auntie Grizelda
Sometime In the Morning
I’m a Believer
You Told Me
Forget That Girl
Cuddly Toy
Don’t Call On Me
GREAT song selections except "Your Auntie Grizelda".
Doug Celeste Why not Your Auntie Grizelda?
@@pbsfundingaddict790 Glad you like the song but for me, one of their WORST songs from the moment I first heard it back in 1966. To each their own.
Wow! Great list.
@@Alena1960atLive Thank you!
Here's another thing about these great singers' they were so humble and down to earth! I grew up watching them I was young when they were on TV and they were sweet and wonderful guys as well as being magnificently talented ! I love them as much today as I did back then. I think they're one of the greatest bands that will ever live' they're right up there like I've said before with the Beatles' just superb talent' humble down to earth and immensely talented 'we will miss you on Earth' and like I've said before 'we will hear you again in heaven because you were heavenly all of you ! What amazing' amazing' talented male songbirds you are! The best of the best! Exquisite job! Sincerely a female songbird myself Robin Dawn M.
Frist time I heard the Monkees was in the 5th grade how I'm 68 years old.
Mickey missed his calling to be a comedian. He would have fulfilled that role PERFECTLY. I always thought he was a HOOT and a half.
I wasn three when they came on in 1966 and Mike was my FAVE! even watching them as a young kid in re-runs, my mother would ALWAYS stop doing dishes and say, "Oh I hear those funny Monkees! What is that Micky up to? He's nuts!" :P!!! She thught he was so funny!~Kim
Nothing beats the oldies but goodies!!!!!❤❤❤❤
Excellent picks! Love it
Thanks Jeff, I appreciate the comment.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks!
LOVE FAME 4 YES NOT THE BEATLES BUT THE MONKEES FOREVER ROCK ON🎸🎸🎸🥁🎤🎤🎤🎤🌟⭐💞💞🇨🇦
the Very best of the Monkees
Fantastic Band 60's
Oh... it’s more than fantastic. I just can’t find a better way to express how good they are!🥰😊
Great job. I love the songs of any group in the 50's 60's and early 70's that are not heard of very much.kinda like a b side on a 45. Or buying the whole album. Can you dig it
Yes, I think so. Looking back over the songs of that era, I often prefer the songs that didn't do so well ..including album tracks and the occasional B side. The songs that did well were often "commercial (rubbish)" songs, simply intended to sell records. They had a catchy tune with instant appeal, but little musical substance. I guess most Monkees songs were like this. But I like to think that I found some with a little more substance/creativity to "stand the test of time".
Gostei desta seleção de músicas do The Monkees banda do qual sou fã 👏👏👏👏👏👏🇱🇷🇧🇷
❤️ Michael Nesmith
Davy Jones was a shrimp of a guy of small stature and build who barely stood 5' 2" tall but what he lacked in size he more than made up for in personality WHIT and charm.
How can anyone not watch the monkeys and go away mad? I guess if that's what you want the end result is always the same. What am I doing hanging around, tune in, turn on , you might just laugh, god forbid, smile.
My all time favorite song wasn't on your list, however. Mike's *Don't Call On Me* (High over Chicago, you know - I've actually been where they said they were) Mike's vocals still makes me swoon.
I totally agree!! That's a gem of a tune!! So classically 60s!!!
Yeah back in the day..😄✌️
Holy shit I forgot about The Day We Fall In Love. I haven't heard that since I was about 12. Wow!
Great! It is rather unique isn't it.
Cool!
Thanks Ted
Mis recuerdos de mi niñez.
They were all good in their own right but I think PETER TORK was the most gifted musically. He could play a variety of musical instruments.
There's a "dark horse". How about voice wise? I'm not aware of him taking any lead vocals?
@@60sfanaticAuntie Galzelda.
Listening to Peter's voice on some of the background vocals, I am struck by the similarity to Gary Lewis's style with Gary Lewis and the Playboys. He should have been used on more tracks.
Mike had the soul of a gifted song writer! His guitar was his gift and at least 12 strings or more!
Peter shared lead vocals with Micky on Words (song #9)
Group of boy band that can be unforgotten ITS NICE TO BE WITH YOU (them).
YEAH TY
The only problem with these songs is....they're too short!
Agree!
Iagree
I get you. But I like that because they are so good you want more. That is a good thing. Unlike the junk.of the last few decades which is so bad and
un talented fools screeching that are way too.long. Thank goodness we have the talented musical artists and songs from the past. 🐒♥️🐞♥️🐥♥️
But the songs had to be short to fit in the 30 minutes of the Monkees time slot of the evening line up. Same for the 2nd generation of fans of the reruns shows!
And Davy originally wanted to be a jockey. 🐴🐎
Mike was the most talented one manley his song writting
Completely agree 👍
I believe he was the best songwriter in the band but he himself said Peter was a far superior musician!
Mike and Micky singing together was magical.
A faixa 10 é minha preferida 🇱🇷🇧🇷
Obrigado pelo feedback e deixe-me saber o seu favorito.
First two were Kirshner Supervised the other Two was Produced by "Chip" Douglas Farthing Hatleilid.
All 4 were Reissued in Japan and made #1 in 1976.
Thanks. There is a really great discography web site called Discogs which shows all of the releases around the world for every record plus pictures and tracklists. Its where I get most of my information from. Here is More of the Monkees link. www.discogs.com/master/23658-The-Monkees-More-Of-The-Monkees, You can also trade on it and it has latest prices.

Hemos tenido mucha suerte ... hasta ahora. ruclips.net/video/U-1B7Bd-KUw/видео.html
I never heard their albums back in the ;60s when I was a young man; I was too busy avoiding their wacky TV skows
Wacky is a great word for them! Fortunately, it didn't put me off their music. The second album especially. Light weight, but still enjoyable.
Loved their music.
Miss them.
They were fuckin great what started as a joke bite everone in the ass i can't believe their gone
hopefully Micky will make it to the 60th anniversary at least. no one wouldve expected it to last this long
All 4 Reissued on CD from Arista in the 90's. As "The Affordables" a Budget series. as Remixed Discs.
Oh Ted you bad boy you have not included that classic track "Randy Scouse Git" which went over most Yanks heads i had to explain to my colonial relatives the meaning cos they don't understand the warped and twisted Brit SOH.
The other three guys dwarfed him by a foot
"What am I doing Hanging Round" should be properly credited to Michael Martin Murphy and Owen "Boomer" Castleman.
All bangers still, except for that stupid "On the day we fall in love" which Davy said was hard to sing because it was ridiculous.
🇬🇧❤️🇺🇲👍
really funny
A coletânea é fraca. Não consta uma das mais belas músicas dos The Monkees : " The Gilr I Knew Somewhere " e também não constam todas as músicas que lhes abriram caminho para a fama internacional.
OK.
Sweet young thing is extremely overrated
At least it is different!! What would you replace it with?
@@60sfanatic I love Sweet Young Thing.
Thumbs down to you. You know nothing.
How so? SYT includes lyrics both sweet and passionate, a kickass vocal from Michael and another of his early experiments in hybrid sound, combining pop and Cajun flavored blues. It's literally the hottest song in the catalogue. The only problem with it is that it's too short! It's a significant early Monkees track. We don't follow your thinking.
yikes... if youtube showed dislikes.. but that was a year ago. i like it now, but i really don’t like the violin.
I just love all the songs of The Monkees there are more my sister‘s generation, but I have a little kid. I enjoyed listening to the the Monkees 👍❤️❤️👊👊❤️❤️❤️❤️
