Jan 1978 - senior in what-was-then a small town h.s... Lots of FUN TIMES! You showed my hometown newspaper - The Columbus Dispatch - above of the fold story - that DAM BLIZZARD!! We were snowed in for four days but SOMEHOW never lost power to our house! Thanks for the awesome memories, yet again, Fred!
I was in the Louisville, Ky. area. The snow was so heavy and stayed down so long that when it finally melted in the spring I thought, “Oh year, _that’s_ what the color green looks like.” (Not really, but it seemed like we’d never see the grass again.)
I’m down South. I remember the snow that year- we had just enough to be pretty (& Unusual for us)!! Our whole little neighborhood got out & walked around together. It was fun for us but I don’t think any of us would have done well if we Really had snow like y’all!!😂 ( love your “Handle” anyway there, good Buddy) Remember CB Radios?✌️
Thanks Fred, some warm memories of senior year on a chilly Monday morning. 👍 Tony Randal was very funny as judge Franklin, it's a shame it didn't last very long, probably what gave them the idea for Night Court a few years later. 👍👍👍
Reminds me of a girl in my school who was actually named Cheryl Tiegs. She got on the bus to go home with both nostrils full of green boogers. Nobody told her.
@@FredFlix Ha ha......Anybody remember Cam Nelson? She was on the "Groovy Show" after school with local D.J. from So Calif. It was filmed at the beach I think Santa Monica or Huntington beach. I was a freshman and she was a senior in high school....Alhambra High 1969
Oof, that blizzard. We got that newspaper in Groveport, a small town (well, now it's a small city) a few miles southeast of Columbus (I was two months shy of 16), and I remember getting up for school and looking out the window of the front door and could only see the dull glow of the light at our church across the street. Which meant no school :) Later in the day, even though the snow had largely stopped falling the high winds were blowing it into drifts, and while the power hadn't shut off (thank God) my mom was worried it could, so she wanted one of us to go to the only store open (IGA) and get some bread and bologna; we could keep it on our sun porch to keep it cold if needed. My brother and sister had cars, but the roads were impassable, so I got several layers on and my coat, put a duffel bag on my back and headed to IGA. Despite it being around 4PM I remember it was quite dark. I made my way to Main St. and while walking I saw several cars on the side of the street, partially covered in snow drifts. Occasionally a National Guard vehicle would go by, from the nearby Rickenbacker AFB. I got to IGA and they had been serving National Guard soldiers coffee and warm food when they stopped by. I got 10 lbs of bologna and two loaves of bread for a little less than $10 and made my way home. We never lost power and we had plenty of bologna for awhile :)
Oh this was a fun blast from the past Fred!!! I remember the Billy Joel song and snickered because shortly after releasing that song, he left his wife for Christy Brinkley lol
Looking back at the January blizzard brings back memories of how we in the Northeast had our own monster blizzard just a month later. Amazingly, we never lost power at our house...but we did miss a week of school. My friends and I made the most of it by shoveling driveways and walkways to make some cash. Hard work but I was able to do okay for myself. Thanks Fred!
How evil are the ad jingle writers? Seeing that product brought "get a little closer, don't be shy ..." into my head. They knew how to write memorable jingles that we still remember decades later. (Apologies for the earworm).
That was my home team's first appearance in the Super Bowl. Too bad they lost. Love that Billy Joel song. Cheryl Tiegs was so beautiful. Good stuff, Fred.
The year I graduated highschool, doesn't seem that long ago. It was a simpler time, but a lot has to do with what age you are, at least that's how I've experienced life, now I'm old and it's tough watching everything change around you, but in many ways I'm the same person, just much older
The only thing I remember from that January is the snow. Man, I had to walk to school (jr. high). It was murder. And the school system I went to had the fewest snow days in the state (Michigan). Sitting in front of the TV, waiting to see if school was closed was torture. Seeing all the districts around ours closing and not see ours....smh. The only good to come out of that snow was all the snowballs we threw. At cars, buses, trucks and each other. The snow forts were the biggest we ever made, and still we had enough snow to make hundreds of snowballs. Add to that all the streets went unplowed for the longest time (lived near Metro Airport, which gets top priority for the plows). That gave us ample time to shag cars (riding on the bumpers of cars through the snow), It is a wonder none of us were killed doing it, LOL. Thanks for stirring the memories Fred.
Coma. One of my favorite movies. I had a crush on Genevieve Bujold. My heart is beating a little faster this morning. I had decaf this morning so I know it's not the caffeine. 👍
The same snow storm hit Long Island , I turned 18 and had cabin fever from the snowy winter in January , not driving that long and will never forget getting stuck in a snow filled parking lot at the Cinema 150 in Syosset along with a bunch of my a burger king co-workers. I don’t know how I finally got out of that parking space , thanks Fred for the January video and memories 😍

Another Fred-tabulous video…it was a cold nasty month in New York, what a super Superbowl ,and super television/cinema icons like the multi talented Jonathan Winters. But Fred, that Warren Zevon song was truly unique!
What Warren Zevon song? Or were you meaning the ELO song "I Turn To Stone"? Fred always puts the 45 rpm label pic, of the song clip hes using, before switching to another topic in the videos, in this case he keeps the song on, through magazine covers, to the next Tv news clip.
