You're an inspiration to me to keep practicing, i can't help but look at your performance and say "In a few years, i'll be at there";, because your level and your playing is so sincere that demonstrates the hours of practice in every bow stroke and its beautiful to think that when im there, you'll be far ahead, as it should be. It doesn't make me feel like im watching some 7 year old prodigy with light speed levels ahead of talent higher than mine that when i catch up to them at said age they'll be galaxies away, your performance lets me see a story of progress and development; one that i believe every musician sees in his peers and that its refreshing and necessary to find on youtube where you're a young musician constantly bombarded with people that get to where you want to be exactly at or before your age. Thank you so much for going forward and giving me this feeling

Keep with it. If you have a consuming passion for what you want to achieve then scales, arpeggios, and bowing technique (including sustaining the full range of the horse hair will in time yield greater control - all applied slowly and with a critical ear - this is vital. There is also much that can stand a violinist in good stead by attending to the classical stance of the left and right feet. If you have a long mirror, then practise in front of it - this can illustrate irregularities that may otherwise go unnoticed. I hasten to add that most violinists who do not have perfect pitch should spend as much time as possible listening to and memorising a well-tuned piano. The drawback with non-electronic keyboards is that they go out of pitch quickly. There are some excellent masterclass videos by Pinchas Zukerman addressing a variety of technical issues. Also, of great import are the books by Ivan Galamian.
These are simply my words of encouragement and constructive criticism.

What it is so great about your playing is that it is passionate, serious and heartfelt. Yes a little rough around the edges, but (young) people like you are the reason we all started and continued to play music throughout our whole lives. For me personally I was inspired by others better than myself (like you!) getting up and bravely memorising the solo and nailing their colours to the mast. While I played 2nd violin, but I am a lot better player now and I am over 50.

That intonation on the orchestra is a bit… sus.
    YOU DID GREAT THO.
If I had to give comments-6 months later(what is even the point at this point lmao)- it would be that you became a bit nervous, and rushed a bit on the fast parts, but that’s normal.
Octaves were a bit messy-not out of tune persay- just not clean.
For the part after the triplets, I think it was a bit fast, it’s a good and beautiful part to take a bit of time to really play it out, but that just might be my preference talking.
The part leading to the cadenza was good.
The cadenza was really good, just two points, intonation (which was just from the tenseness and nervousness), and you were making a low of crunchy noises, possibly from having a bad violin and having to project, but 🤷‍♂️.
The phrasing of the cadenza was quite good, and different from other recordings I hear.
Actually your intonation on the high notes were mostly fine, it was more your 1st and 3rd position notes that were a tiny bit off.
Overall, the projection was lacking a bit, but that might just be the violin.
I think another overall point was that you looked and sounded a bit tense at the fast parts, so I would recommend put notes in your sheet music at certain parts in the music where you think you would get stressed (fast parts) that day to relax, or smth along those lines.
Anyways, again, great performance, good cadenza phrasing, bai.

    • @RubsViolin
      @RubsViolin  8 месяцев назад

Wow. Thanks for the critique! Yeah some of the places were way too fast lmao. One tiny problem is when I accidentally went too fast, it's kind of difficult to slow down, because a youth orchestra tends to like to go fast and chances are if I slow down they are going to struggle to follow. Anyways that crunchy sound definitely just me and my technique lol. But I have been working on getting better sound overall.

@@RubsViolinRubs, I was in your shoes just last year. I loved violin and everyone said I was very talented. My stage presence and musicality was very developed, much like yours!
After I switched to my new teacher, he described me as “talented, but very misguided”. The reason is because I didn’t focus on my technique as much as I should’ve. I didn’t repeat difficult passages slowly enough or as many times as I should’ve, and the result is that my pieces that i played were never technically stable. There were always spots that weren’t quite clean, even after months and months of learning a piece.
After switching to my new teacher, my technique improved a lot as I was becoming less tense and more relaxed in both arms. I started focusing on technical etudes and practicing slowly.
I think if you want to pursue music, you need to either get a new teacher or re-evaluate how you practice and focus on rhythmic and technical stability.
      Hope this helps!

What you can try to do is maybe just choose a few difficult pieces that are quite far above your standard and just practice them. You'll learn a lot of new stuff and then you'll think that your current pieces are very easy. You just have to try and be as effective as possible.
