My manager at a screen printing shop once sent one of those pressured aerosol cans full of acetone down an industrial dryer running at 360 degrees by accident. I’d seen enough mythbusters to know to run for cover but instead of exploding, that little can popped out burning hot but intact. Solid product.
Never really warch these end of the year videos. Been a fan of you must remeber this for the last couple years, so happy to hear its one of adams favorite
oh Adam, i think i speak for a lot of people when i say that, you are already immortal, in fact, you are a movie/prop national and international, cause I'm in Denmark, treasure, absolutely you are 💯%
Hearing Adam talk about his favourite movies this year made me realize that I miss the podcasts, both Still Untitled and This Is Only a Test. Still hoping they return some day.. Also wondering what Adam thinks of The Creator and its visual design! Pulling of so much with such a small budget.
I have watched many of your videos with great enjoyment but have yet to pay you the ultimate compliment of falling asleep during them! More power to your forearm in 2024!
Totally agree… I would love Adam as a friend and colleague…. I think he is an amazing person… very like myself in mindset. I’ve read Adam’s book “Every tools a hammer”, it’s so amazing!!!!!
Frozen end of year hail from FINLAND - I say this with purest honesty from my heart - this channel saved my mental health this year from relatively deep existential crisis / depression as creative person and I wanted to humbly thank YOU ADAM + ENTOURAGE for giving me unfiltered raw inspiration and motive to gradually get back on steam again - peace and love and thank you - 2024 here we come 🤟🖤
Adam I understand that meaning of falling asleep watching your favorite RUclips videos. Sorry but on nights that I'm switching from dayshift to night shift I have to stay up all night till four or five in the morning. I put on your one day build videos and it's so comforting I fall asleep. I wake as soon as it end and start it again. I end up watching it three times to watch the full video. Thank you for the great content. Happy holidays to you and the Tested Team.
I'm going to be straight honest. The episode seeing your excitement for the Mitutoyo gauge blocks is probably one of my favorite things i've ever watched. It displayed how i feel when i find something awesome for my home shop. I would treat those blocks like my children haha
My favorite moment from the channel this year is that outtake reel you’ve conveniently attached to the end of this. Adam’s ability to laugh at his inability to remember his store’s web address never ceases to bring a smile to my face.
Adam you really have to read The Sun Eater Saga by Christopher Ruocchio! It is the best Science Fiction being written today! Empire of Silence is the first book!
8:54 You are the person I fall asleep to right now. I now have a small bruise underneath my left eye after falling asleep and dropping my phone on my face...I wear it with pride! 😂
When the whole scrapbooking craze was going on fifteen or so years ago, my wife picked up one of those heat tools (branded "Marvy Uchida") to activate the embossing ink stuff. Over the years I've taken it over as my go-to tool for heat shrink tubing. I love it!
Adam Savage! You never cease to surprise me. You never cease to surprise me in amazing ways. Your show, is like a light summer rain, when you are in love, after waking up to the best day of your life and you know it. And yet, here I sit, with a ridiculously big smile. Your enthusiasm is highly contagious and I wish you could infect everybody with a bit of mad happy weird intelligent positivity! Hearing you speak so glowingly about Mathematica in the Boston MOS hit me in the feels. Every time I go to the MoS that's always where I end up spending the most time, it's such a fun exhibit hall.
I love falling to sleep to YOUR videos brother! They make me feel like I’m not alone in in my room and really give me a sense of comfort. Even when your using loud tools. I sleep like a baby. ❤️
I've had one of those little craft store heat guns for 15 years. I use it all the time to heat small rust-frozen parts and electrical shrink insulation. Thanks for yet another year of great youtube content.
Welcome… the water is warm. This channel will get you through some frustrating times… it’s sheer bliss to watch Adam narrate his way through the building processes…. And fully includes his screwups. Yes, he IS human 🤓
I just saw Past Lives last week and it's one of my favourite films of the year. It felt like a Richard Linklater film and that's a very high compliment considering that Past Lives is Celine Songs first movie, which she not only wrote but also produced and directed herself! I can't want to see what she does next.
Oh man what a serpentine path life can take us. Thanks to this video I immediately checked Left Hand of Darkness out of the library and have been listening to it for a couple of days. This author Ursula k LeGuin, I knew the name but couldn’t place it and knew I’d never read any of her works. Finally a third of the way through the book the tickle in my mind kept getting bigger and I discover she wrote The ones who walk away from omelas. I had forgotten the name of this short story I read 25 years ago in an English class. The story struck me and stuck with me, and I would make references to it without thinking. But I never tried to find its origin. Adam you continue to touch peoples lives even in minor intangible ways, like this quantum tunnel to my past!! Lol! Cheers.
My favourite thing of 2023 was finally noticing that labels on the inside of t-shirts and jumpers and things are always on the left, so I no longer have to peer all the way down to see the neck label (if it even exists) to know which way round it goes.
I love the flexible neck magnetic sewing machine led lights. I have one mounted on the back of my computer tower to see cables and ports. I've used them for auto repair, excellent for working on brakes and calipers.
I've been wishy-washy about getting the portable tire inflater for a couple years. Now, it's ordered and on the way! Thank you, Adam, for sharing your thoughts about all this cool stuff!
@@TheLinkIsLost yeah, it’s ok. It’s pressure reading is about 3 or so PSI low, compared to two other pressure gauges I compared it to, though. Problem is, I’m not sure who to trust as most accurate! One knock, as other commenters noted in reviews is, the hose is really short and the inflator hanging off the tire looks like the hose is kind of kinked. Part of my desire for an electric one is so I don’t have to bend over the whole time, to spare back pain. I just find something to prop it up. Finally, it’s definitely slower than a compressor and only a bit quieter. Overall, I’m happy with the convenience and very compact size. Having it in the car is good peace of mind. P.s. I also love the auto shutoff feature…I just hope I’m not over inflating.
Those sure-shot sprayers have a little brass thing under the outer section of the nozzle that you can remove for laser beam mode, if you don't want a fine mist!
Those travel bags are nice. I have a ski bag that has a laptop sleeve style compartment, and I stitched a panel of velcro to it, I then have a similar set of bags that I stick to the velco inside the bag. That way they just aren't all shuffling around in the bag loose. I can then switch out the bags for whatever use I have for the bag that day. Going skiing, take my bags that have my ski tools, sunscreen etc. Traveling, switch out for my bag with my battery bank, passport etc.
ADAM! With Future Motion being so anti right to repair, I would love to see a one-day build where you drop in a VESC controller and free your OneWheel!!! I have done a few boards and everyone absolutely loves them :) The customization it offers you along with the added safety you get from the better controller is simply out of this world. Not to mention adding a remote for even more control and real time data from the controller makes the OneWheel so much more usable and amazing. With your machining abilities, you could do some really cool modifications from battery boxes to custom rails!
Thanks so much for your best of episode each year - always find something to put on my gift list. I started listening to You Must Remember This based on your recommendation last year, and the 90s series and the 80s one that preceded it were just incredible. I highly recommend Proof from America's Test Kitchen. A great example is "How to Make a Battle-Ready Pizza" - the complexity and science behind good MREs is fascinating, and the passion that those involved have for it comes through. Also love Technology Connections on RUclips, he does great deep dives into so many technology areas, old and new. I'm forever fascinated about how things were done mechanically before integrated circuits and such. His episode on "Old Pinball Machines are Amazingly Complex" is great!
Thanks for your list of tools. I know I'm not alone when I say, thanks for constantly inspiring me and the rest of your followers. You and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy new year ❤
You're not the only one who finds Steve Mould 's voice conducive to falling asleep. I remember I heard another big RUclipsr saying that he find his voice very "soothing". I think it was ElectroBoom
Thank you Adam and Norm and Tested crew you are all some of my biggest inspiration to be better and follow my passions in life so thank you so much i cant wait to see what you all have in store for 2024
I just recently read the Earthsea books for the first time. Had a lot of fun choosing a hardcover from a different printing for all six books and was delighted to see the obvious inspirations for another of my favorite series, The Magicians by Lev Grossman. I know signed copies of The Left Hand of Darkness go for quite a bit of money, and I have a first edition of Rocannon's World on my shelf waiting to start that series. Glad to hear there's more excellent works from LeGuin that are soon to come my way.
your comments on 3D printers, would love if you did a video just on those. What new ones do you have, WHY re they so much better? advice, etc. I have one from 3-4 years ago and it is good, but your enthusiasm now has me wondering about an upgrade.
Someone may have suggested this already (I’m not going to read all the comments to check), but you could suspend that little blowdryer on a retracting cord above your workspace, the way that nutrunners are set up on production lines. Think of how much time you’ll save not having to pick it up and put it down every single time.
The dead roach in the bag is a good selling point. Might I add, discussing a creative design you drew influence from and then stating it doesn't do the same collapsible thing was hilarious. Its like, this hyper advanced nanotech computer gave me so much inspiration to make a box that looks like it, but doesn't perform any computing... you should buy it because there's a dead roach in it.
Got super excited when you talked about Ursula Leguin. ‘The ones who walked away from Omelas’ messed me up when I first read it. Love your channel, Adam!
those sureshot canisters are great. I used those in the shop for years when I worked in an auto shop, we used them for brake clean. Extremely nice to have.
Adam, much love for highlighting The Left Hand of Darkness, by far my favorite book, LeGuin is one of the best authors of the 20th/21st Century and I hope lots of people pick up her work in in 2024.
I was watching this movie the other day and loved it, and I thought, who fought for this movie ? Some amazing person fought to bring these moments to life (I am getting chills just thinking about it). And I was like "A man. A man fought for this movie." And then direction credit came up and then yup, there it was !
there is a lot of tire inflation and most of them can't run more then 10-20 min before you need to stop, let it cool down for over 1 hour or so and then continue. When I was looking for a tire pump for a car wheel, I was never able to inflate my tire 10-20 min limit. It may be able to support the PSI, but not the time it required to feel a tire from flat. So, if you have a repair kit for flat, depending on all tire pump, they all have different air flow/ min ratio, so the smaller the unit, the lower and more time it will take. Just make sure that you get a pump that can pump a tire from flat in one shot. No one want to find out on the side of the road, that the pump you bought cannot inflate a tire flat in one time and you half to wait over 1 hour before you can continue.
That tape dispenser is truly a wonderful piece of equipment. I'm considering getting 1 or 2 more, for different types of tape. I use it for basting tape when dewing, and having presets its a dream! Don't sleep on a $150 tape dispenser!
We’ve been using Sure Shot cans for about 2 decades. For us car guys that blow through a ton or Brakleen, they are a budget buddy. A gallon of brake cleaner goes a long way. We have 2; one w/ brake cleaner/ acetone and the other with just water. Great for hosing off brake fluid after a flush job.
Thanks for the coverage of bambu lab printers. We purchased one at work and it's been running like a dream. Upgrading from a makerbot replicator X2 / ender something. Print quality is amazing and software is apparently very intuitive someone else does the printing I'm not involved in that "yet". Merry Christmas everyone
A big thank you to Adam for turning me on to Bobby Fingers! What an incredible maker and the hilarious voice over commentary is laugh out loud funny. Thanks!
So I think you mentioned them last year but I just got a pair of Kant twist clamps a few days ago for the first time and love them already. Thanks for these episodes.
Having discovered and subscribing to this RUclips channel IS STILL one of the best things I am very thankful for. And I'm also Absolutely thankful for how Awesome Adam Savage is 😘
Grosse Pointe Blank is one of my favourite movies!! The soundtrack was the very first CD I ever bought! I didn't own a CD player at the time, and had to use my uncle hifi system to copy it to cassette tape (shhhhh...😂)!!
Adam, you've improved your chances at immortality by being a truly genuine person who shares his passion and love for creating, with the the world. You've inspired myself and countless others.
My favourite thing this year, I finally spent some money upgrading a bunch of the devices around my computer - mouse, my keyboard, my music headphones, a few other things. Several of them were old and worn out and not working well, so I used some of my savings to upgrade to better ones. Let me tell you, the difference between a "passable" tool that works but isn't particularly nice, and a "good" premium tool... for stuff you use all the time? it makes a huge difference. A cheap keyboard will let you type, and costs $10, but a keychron keyboard is $80 (cheap by "custom keyboard enthusiast" standards apparently) - and the difference is it makes the feel of typing *enjoyable*. Well worth the cost, and it'll last 10x as long as you can dismantle it and replace individual parts. The headphones were expensive, Meze 99 classics... but... they're just an incredibly nice object. Functional, comfortable, and incredible at their job.

Very happy to see Ursula on your list. And twice, no less! Her books made me a better person.
OMG - How have I only just found Adam's channel. So exited to spend 2024 catching up. Adam thanks for this great video.
Amazing tips as usual.
Got super excited when you talked about Ursula Leguin. ‘The ones who walked away from Omelas’ messed me up when I first read it. Love your channel, Adam!
Adam, you are such a beautiful person, thanks for everything!
those sureshot canisters are great. I used those in the shop for years when I worked in an auto shop, we used them for brake clean. Extremely nice to have.
Merry Christmas Adam & everybody at Tested!
Adam, much love for highlighting The Left Hand of Darkness, by far my favorite book, LeGuin is one of the best authors of the 20th/21st Century and I hope lots of people pick up her work in in 2024.
I started using those lights a few years ago. They are great.
If Books Could Kill is fantastic. The older episodes of You're Wrong About with Michael Hobbs are really great as well.
I was watching this movie the other day and loved it, and I thought, who fought for this movie ? Some amazing person fought to bring these moments to life (I am getting chills just thinking about it). And I was like "A man. A man fought for this movie." And then direction credit came up and then yup, there it was !
Ooh, that smoke tool might be really useful for bee keeping.
there is a lot of tire inflation and most of them can't run more then 10-20 min before you need to stop, let it cool down for over 1 hour or so and then continue.
Happy holidays to everyone! :) Wishing you all everything the best in 2024!
Great for hosing off brake fluid after a flush job.
the bloopers were a highlight of so many highlights. Bravo
I love the apron bags and the idea of them. But what is a dop kit?
thumbs up for the Ursula recommendation
YO......adam...have you got the lifelike stunt dummy of sigourney weaver from the Alien-3 movie stashed away in your Garage.
Thanks!
Oh my god i hear you 10000% on Tire Inflators!
I always like these lists, I am not a maker but there is always at least one thingie that becomes super useful in for regular use :D
YES!!! Past Lives is my favorite film of the year. I’ve watched it 4 times so far this year. The Director’s Commentary is phenomenal as well!
Thanks. I had read Left Hand of Darkness long ago but had never heard of The Word for World Is Forest.
Thanks for a highly entertaining year Adam! Happy Holidays to you and your family!!!!
Always thrilled to hear Le Guin mentioned
Bucket bag - been looking for the perfect tote for our 2yr old, the only thing to make it perfect? Removable backpack strap option? Perfection.
So I think you mentioned them last year but I just got a pair of Kant twist clamps a few days ago for the first time and love them already. Thanks for these episodes.
Having discovered and subscribing to this RUclips channel IS STILL one of the best things I am very thankful for. And I'm also Absolutely thankful for how Awesome Adam Savage is 😘
Just finished The Lathe of Heaven, what an incredible piece, Le Guin was a treasure and is sorely missed
I use old zipper bank bags great for Allen wrenches sockets wrenches ect . Wipe the names off with solvent .😊
Happy new year! Thank you for being a science educator. I've learned so much from your work!
