Cool Fact; from The Little Angels through every lineup or incarnation of the Sylvers, James is the only Family member who NEVER left the group. Talk about loyalty!
This is one of the greatest underrated songs in black history, a great time, and I love the way she sings and grooves, the music is so beautiful, but the lyrics... Man, what a love inspiration towards eternal happiness for black masculine and black feminine in the all n all forever, thank you
yes it so dreamy and the way you can visualize the lyrics a young girl going through life and the strange me she meets!! and the one that captures her heart she is told he not right for you and don't really love you just think you do!!! Haven't we seen that situation in our lives people!!! this whole musical dream mode is just so beautiful and melodic!!! i can listen to this for 24 hours straight its very suspenseful and misterious at the same time!!!!❤
Kimora Gaymon you're right about that, they sure didn't get the props that they deserve. Every one of there song's deserves a Grammy.😀😀😁👍👍👍⭐⭐⭐⭐ that music has so much energy to it too.
I have never compared the sylvers to the jacksons because there is no comparison each has a totally different sound. Both have a large family that's it
Actually, their record label was restricted in what they could do. The group's former manager was making it difficult for anyone to hire and promote the group. In fact, this appearance on "AB" was the only promotional gig they were able to do for the album, as Dick Clark was the only one who stood up to the former manager and his legal maneuvers.
This song should've been a top 40 comeback hit for them. Plus it would've been perfect for one of the songs used on any of the General Hospital episodes.
It was seeing this performance on American Bandstand that made me buy the Sylvers' album "Bizarre"...after seeing this again I may have to dust that old album off!
This is from '85, the year they broke up as a group if I'm not mistaken. Recalling their "Unsung" episode, they faced a host of problems throughout their career; it was a testament to their fortitude that they kept the group going as long as they did.
As much as I LOVE old school, I have never heard this song before either. Now I cannot stop listening to it. I cannot find it on iTunes, I am going to see if I can buy the album from Amazon.
Dude, the Jacksons themselves produced some amazing records for themselves, Destiny and Triumph which are ranked masterpieces, they also produced some good albums for Betty White and Barry White. There is nothing wrong with loving the Sylvers but you seem to only like them in spite of the Jacksons which is lame. Why not compare them to other family groups like Debarge?
OMG!! I can't believe what I'm seeing!! Is that The Sylvers, Singing my favorite song of all times I must be dreaming. If this is a dream I never wanna wake up. I have to protect my manhood so I'm not crying. ',',
They were definitely giving me "Debarge " vibes the way they were all lined up during the intro . Also can we get into Pat's vibes during this whole video. Her energy was everything and she was really feeling this one, especially from 2:28 all the way up to the end. You go girlllllllll.
This song got some airplay on a radio station 98.7 KISS-FM in New York City. It was like the last song that they did. Great Group never reached their full potential. so sad, THAT UNSUNG episode was magnificent.
On this day in 1985 {February 23rd} the Sylvers performed "Falling For Your Love" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand'... It peaked at #76 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart... Was the last of their 13 records to make the R&B chart; with their biggest hit being "Boogie Fever" 1976, which reached #1 on the R&B chart, the Hot Top 100 chart, and in Canada,,, R.I.P. Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}...
This was the Sylvers' swan song, yet it wasn't mentioned on the recent Unsung bio. I remember this final televised performance on American Bandstand. It's a classic!
OMG, right??!!! LOL, thought I was the only one loving these moves. That one move with the waving hand, I noticed in an older video--forgot what song.... I love it though.
This is a Beautiful song🎵🎵🎶Its time for their star🌟on the "Hollywood Walk of Fame"!!! How am I just now finding this musical jem❤!! I was a little girl💕when they came out. I wish i knew more about their music back then😢. I love them already 💋They should've blown up in videos, award shows, movies, commerials, clothing or advertising for hair care products!!! Thank you Unsung for bringing this group to my attention. Over the years, I've heard their songs🎶but didn't know who they were. Glad I know about the Sylvers now! 🌟❤🌟❤🌟❤😄 .
funny so many of us who were into music and were young back then never heard this song. yet we love it. that goes for many of their songs. but it does cause me to pause to wonder how the hell we never heard a lot of their stuff? how??
WOW! Look at how Pat, Angie & Foster have grown up, 😊 Pat has a lovely voice. I guess Edmund was doing his own thing by this time & Leon too!! Nice to see this video, thanks for the upload. #SYLVERSFAN!!
Funny but not true at all. Groups and singers were wearing wigs during this time AND before this. The Supremes, The Marvalettes, Martha and The Vandellas, Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle, The Labelles, Whitney Houston, Angela Winbush, and MORE all wore wigs in the 50’s especially and afterwards. A lot of the wht groups were also wearing them back in the day. They do tend to wear these long ridiculous wigs ang weaves now that’s for sure. :)
I remember watching this when it originally aired and have been looking for this song forever!! That was the 1st and last time I ever heard this song before I looked it up on RUclips. I was so hoping they would play this on the radio. I think Pat is leading this song and laying it out!! They should've been waaaaaaaaaaaay bigger because they had major talent. This would've put them back on the map BIG TIME!!
@1980Trimuph: You're right. No one should compare the Sylvers to the Jacksons. The Sylvers were performing professionally as early as 1958 - over ten years before "Diana Ross discovered the Jackson Five" - appearing on such TV shows as "The Danny Thomas Show" and opening for the likes of Johnny Mathis and Ray Charles. And don't even get me started on the differences in singing. Every single one of the Sylvers could sing, and the entire family could out-harmonize the Jackson family any day of the week. Yes...yes...the Jackson family has had stupendous commercial success. But I'll take the Sylvers brand of R&B over the assembly line commercialism of Tito and Company any day of the week.
Wayne Alvarez Your thoughts on the matter and small and meaningless, the public preferred the Jacksons harmonizing and music. I don't know how you got assembly line commercialism....I guess groups like the Four Tops and the Temptations all fall into the category too huh?
@1980 Triumph - Yes, they do... as a matter of fact. Barry Gordy and Hitsville saw to that! Motown artists were a PRODUCT that Gordy and company pumped out according to their rigorous and demanding criteria...groups were cookie cut from the beginning! Things changed later (hence the Jacksons leaving), but it was like that at first.
I learned Gladys Knight discovered the Jacksons not Diana Ross. That was a lie told by Motown. Why is it on every video with the Sylvers people compare to the Jacksons. I love them both and after watching the Sylver's episode of Unsung its a shame they did not get promoted properly.
Got to love the ''Bizarre'' album, their last one, and it was also the only one to be released by the then new music label Geffen, before they decided to stop the adventure ! That song is not my prefered one in the album, I almost never listen to it; there are others that are far much better. But it's a real gem, a treasure to have a video where they performed this. As they say, truly : PRICELESS !
LOVE watching them step ..... damn, they were just SO POLISHED!!! What the hell happened to polished and professional???!!! LOVE ME SOME SYLVERS!!! Had to get my fix for today!!!
Watching this performance I'd say that The Sylvers could have easily matched (if not surpassed) The Jacksons in the mid-80's if they'd been properly promoted by their record label. This track, Pat's vocals, the choreography and just the beauty of the young people makes this a beautiful reminder of just how great and unappreciated this family group was. Classic!

Rite on James 👍
makes one wonder what james' perspective of the group is, seeing as how he witnessed multiple members join and leave throughout their bumpy career
One of greatest underrated r&b song of all time in my opinion
The Sylers are tight, period!!!!!!!

The Sylvers remind me of The Debarges alot I thought they were related like cousins back in the 80's...I love both groups...🎤🎤🎤
Yeah they do favor each other
@@fredmcclintonjr7441 I concur. 2 great groups.

True. In "TV One Unsung" they said Dick Clark always supported them.
That sucks! It didn't make sense that the quality of music on that album was fye but they still made poor sales. Thanks for this info
Makes sense as to why they never succeeded like they should have . Their talent is obvious!!
I’m not understanding how this wasn’t put out as a single, I need a time machine this is a friggin hit!!!
This song should've been a top 40 comeback hit for them. Plus it would've been perfect for one of the songs used on any of the General Hospital episodes.
this is a very underrated song.

How did I miss this song back in the mid 1980's? This is such a cool song.
Probably never thought there were five star
They didn't have good promotion ... This absolutely should have charted sky high.
This song should have been playing on the radio nice song

It did get some air play, at least here in New York, but certainly not enough.
Ivalina Passe I have to listen to this at least once a day.
