Leon Sylvers - It's mind blowing how young he was when he wrote this. The Sylvers; so talented, so polished, so professional. I miss them as a singing group but I'm sure glad I can come to RUclips to see and hear these blast from the past. RIP Edmund 1/25/1957 - 3/11/2004💐

Wow didn't know they were from watts California. Went to Carver elementary on 120th and success in LA in early 70s. Back before 105 freeway came thru. 11710 south Slater street. The Harris family. So cool because I had six siblings as well. I remember when Hawkins burgers was just Hawkins corner market on Slater and imperial across from nickerson gardens. Awesome memories. I even remember Cynthia Hawkins as a kid cheating us out of our money when we redeemed bottles. She'd only give us half of what they were worth. Lol I know I'm babbling right now but yes this was my favorite sylvers song, this one and Misdemeanor by Foster sylvers. I thought they were better than Jackson five, well at least their earlier stuff. Then they're music went the way of disco pop. Anyway good memories.

I lived in the Nickerson Gardens at the time that the Sylvers were there and I used to hang out with Rickey and Edmund. I would always go over to their house and look through Jonathan's comic book collection. I would often stay over their house when they would have rehearsal. Leon wasn't playing. He always told me that if I couldn't sit there and watch without goofing around I could stay. We moved away before they did but when I first heard Fools Paradise on the radio I knew all of the words to the song and my friends couldn't figure out how I knew therm. I lived on 114th and Compton Ave. directly across the street from the Housing Authority. I went to Markham for 2 and a half years. I remember when the Pigmies jumped Edmond in the auto parts store on 108th and Compton Ave. Yea, that was messed up with a capital "F".

I am so darn happy. Please do not compare the two groups ...The Jackson 5 & the Sylvers. They were awesome in their own rights. If we need to compare, compare "R&B" of today, to all those beautiful heartfelt ballads of yesterday. You can't. The R&B of today sucks and will never be memorable.

Leon handled the question well. He didnt get an attitude or anything. but that is what they dealth back then. The thought that they were a Jackson 5 knock off. If only people knew........ Motown was scared to death at the potential threat that the sylvers were to the Jacksons. They also analyze their music to see why their records was so tight. Not only Motown was taking notice.. The Jacksons themselves was taken notice. MJ told Edmund sylvers they were scared of the sylvers.... they were good

And this is known fact. Joe Jackson had the Sylvers kicked off of a tour where they were the opening act for the Jackson's. The Sylvers were that good.

My first crushes befor the DeBarges. At least with the DeBarges I was a teen but with the Sylvers I was a little kid! I loved this group and I have the first album in possession now. This is the album my father bought for all of us and I nabbed it as an adult lol.

@ssm3141 Unsung brought back the memories for me as well, I was in love with Edmund Sylvers! I was hurt that his death wasn't even mentioned by our media (to my knowledge) I didn't hear of it until Unsung, I too still have the albums in good condition. Great job TVOne for introducing the Sylvers to a new generation and bringing them back to others.
