YOU SAVED MY LIFE! I was searching for this since eons! Knew how to conduct this on Arc, but after switching to Mac, coudn't do the same on QGIS. You are an utter lifesaver! Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sure do Jorge! You can use data driven overrides (the little drop down by the parameter e.g. stroke width) and use the value from an attribute to set the line weight.
Please which version of QGIS did you use for this? The 3.10 I downloaded doesn't have the Symbology module. Please do you know how I can sort this issues out? I'm frustrated at the moment...
Hi Eze, as far as I'm aware symbology is always available regardless of version. II think I used 3.4 for this. Sometimes you need to widen the window to see it properly. Send me a screen shot of your "properties" dialog and I should be able to help.
Am I able to convert this to a polygon after I've done everything? Do I need to save it as a shapefile before I convert to a polygon? This video is awesome!
Thanks Brittany :-) Are you trying to create a polygon from points? And do you need to keep the points? It may be better to create an actual polygon shapefile depending on how many features you have.
Thank yunjin. The xy to line tool (from shape tools plugin) could also be used. I was interested in exploring geometry generator. Geom generator also does not create a new line file, it just represents the underlying point layer differently in cartographic terms. As always there's many different ways to do similar things in GIS :-)
I think so. Try looking in the processing toolbox and searching for "points to path". That might be what you need. docs.qgis.org/3.10/en/docs/user_manual/processing_algs/qgis/vectorcreation.html#qgispointstopath

Glad it helped Siddesh! 😀
Excellent Sir.
been looking for something like this for six months, thank you so much
The search is over Federico! :) How will you be using geometry generator? I love to know what projects viewers are working on
Thank you so much, this was very useful!
Glad it was helpful! 😊
Thank you very much, this is great! Do you have any recommendations to change the weight of the lines according to a parameter? Thanks, again!
Sure do Jorge! You can use data driven overrides (the little drop down by the parameter e.g. stroke width) and use the value from an attribute to set the line weight.
I have also been looking for this like qrazy! This is easy and so good! Thank you!
Nice one raket :) Give it a share if you have time so others can find it :)
This was very useful for me. Much appreciated. Thanks!
I'm glad it helped Iyad. Thanks for supporting the channel :-)
Thank you very much indeed. Nearing the end of quite a long tunnel after watching this video.
Glad to be of help Christopher. Good luck with getting to the end of yhe tunnel and let me know if you get stuck :-)

I haven't used it, but seems like a nice tool. Thanks for sharing.
Nice
Thank you very much, your tutorial helped me a lot! :D
Glad it helped!

@@burdGIS Yes I was making it from points. I was able to figure it out :-), this video helped me a lot so thanks again!
Great! Glad to hear you figured it out Brittany. Thanks for letting me know :)
why you don't use the xy to line tools?

how export this lines or save as line ?
Thanks Stefano. The geometry generator just makes the points *look* like lines. Their underlying geometry is unchanged.
@@burdGIS thanks for your quick response. Do you know any way to solve what I'm saying?
