from what I saw in another channel once, there are companies that pack and unpack everything you have in different boxes depending the fragility of the things, they even put covers/carpet all the way from your house to the truck to not scratch the elevator or the walls and they even help you to unpack and organize the things in the new house. in my country when you move there is this big dude that drives that tells you I hope you had breakfast bc the one that will carry everything will be you unless you have friend bro. That's when you call the friends 🤣 for help
It's very common for moving companies to scam you. They make up excuses or reasons why they are overcharging you for a basic service. Unless you are moving to someplace really far away, they shouldn't be charging you a fortune just to move your stuff. The best solution is just to have friends help you move out and rent out a U-Haul truck. Too many moving companies are opportunists who want to make an easy buck and them knowing that you need their help so they are more likely to give you a much bigger bill.
Troubles with renting in Japan and the costs involved have always "surprised" me. Especially the fact that you have to pay the landlord a month's rent as a gift.
