My mother had a rule about laundry. Once you're able to reach inside the washer yourself (it was a top load) you could do your own laundry. Since about 12 or 14 I've been doing my own laundry each week. Sure there might be a bonus where my mom would move it to the dryer afterwards, but normally I was held responsible for my own clothes. Just boggles my mind to see some people out there who have never done their own laundry, or that they do the entire household's laundry like in those Tide commercials.
Had to move back in with my parents due to new landlord wanting to tear down the apartment building. Some people would probably ask their mom to do their laundry, but I still prefer to do it myself. I smoke socially outside of work, so I don't want my mom to ride my ass about that. The idea that there are lazy adults out there still having their parents do shit for them boils my blood. Also, the idea that your spouse needs to handle all the chores is so stupid.

I can definitely relate to that last part. As someone who does enjoyy cooking and don't mind doing chores, whenever my mother tells me to do them, the only results I get at the end is being told I'm doing it all wrong, I'm useless, no one will hire me, etc. by my mother. So I really don't bother doing any chores in the house, even when my mother complains I never help out with the house chores. I was the one who took care of me and my younger brother just fine, doing all the cooking and household chores, when my parents went on long needed vacation.
