    I was waiting for this band and song in particular. Alright, I did a PhD in philosophy and Vin makes a lot of great points and I couldn't relate more to what he says: experience God is the ultimate proof of His existence. The timing of the video couldn't be any better, I was struggling with my beliefs and now you helped me strengthen my faith. Thank you very much. And if I may, could you review Antestor's "old times cruelty"? Hellhammer (legendary black metal drummer) was the season drummer for that album and it is INTENSE (to say the least). Once again thank you both very much, you guys are really smart and I really appreciate it. Cheers!!

      Yes, that same very guy. A friend of mine happens to know him and according to her that guy is very Christian (which shook me at first but it makes a lot of sense after seeing how Tom Araya is Catholic and plays for slayer). Also the song is sick and Antestor are basically the pioneers of unblack metal. (Btw reading the confessions again, there are still tons of lessons to be learned from that book).

    I love Becoming the Archetype and this album. A lot of people consider this album to be their best era, back before they got a new vocalist. But I actually prefer their later music with the new vocalist. Their album, "Celestial Completion" is amazing. I suggest you listen to their song, "Internal Illumination," or their trilogy of songs called "Requiem Aeternam."

      Celestial Completion still had Jason Wisdom. Only I Am was made with new vocalist. Wisdom is one of my favorite vocalists of all, so I’m partial to the first 4 albums: Terminate Damnation, Physics of Fire, Dichotomy, and Celestial Completion (plus the single Necrotizing Fasciitis). However, I Am is still awesome!

    I hate the misunderstanding that getting into heaven is being good and not bad, as if you need to be good to outweigh sin. It's a misconception of sin. Sin is what makes Us unholy. Anything unholy can't get into heaven. Any sin, just one makes us unholy. It's about repenting and accepting salvation, not trying to sin less and do more good, it's accepting that we are not holy and taking the gift of eternal life. People place too much emphasis on sin and less on the fact that we are not holy BECAUSE of sin, in general, not individual sins, but being unholy in general.

    Regarding your argument about the complexity of the universe and consciousness and the need for a creator, there's some serious issues with that line of thinking.
    1. It's a cop out as opposed to simply admitting we don't know where this all came from. A god is a possible solution but, like any other natural phenomenon that used to be a mystery to us, there is likely a natural explanation that we will uncover in time.
    2. Assuming it does prove the existence of a god, it is not an argument in favour of your idea of god but onlynin favour of the idea of a god.
    3. If we argue that rhe universe is so complex it requires a creator, why is an exception made for god (he is a complex being and therefore would require a creator?).
    4.Why would an all powerful, all loving god create such a flawed universe? I'm not even talking about good/evil here but even things like genetic/birth defects. This last one is sort of going off on a tangent but still related I think.

    • @Concatenate
      @Concatenate 6 лет назад +2

      This has been a topic the greatest minds in history have beaten to death back and forth and will continue ad infinitum for the rest of time. You think you're arguing from a point of logic, those who would say a complex universe necessitates the existence of a god would claim to argue from a point of logic. Who is right? Perhaps it's not even about being right but at least engaging the topic for the rest of our lives. You may fall on the side of unbelief, others will fall on the side of believing in a god. As long as we can remain civil in these discussions is to me really what matters.

    • @reinxeedfreak
      @reinxeedfreak 6 лет назад +2

      When it all comes down to it, that's where faith comes in. Whether you believe in the Bible, the theory of evolution, ancient aliens theory, primordial soup, logic and reasoning, humanism or whatever else, you are still putting your faith in something. At the end of the day, creation is a fascinating mystery we can't currently grasp. It's very humbling because it was an event beyond our comprehension. It's an event the human race can't duplicate. What I try to do is observe and study the universe and mankind and draw my conclusions from that, like a detective gathers clues to solve a case. My personal conclusions and experiences have led me to a Biblical perspective through humble faith. Especially in observing human nature, I think the Bible is very accurate in its description. From a Christian perspective, I believe the earth became flawed when sin entered into it (Genesis 3:17-18, for example, talks about the ground being cursed; thorns and thistles,etc...). Anyway, I'm not trying to preach or argue. I'm just stating my personal views to some very good questions. Have a good day my friend. Peace.

      SamuelKennethChapman
      All opinions are welcome and I appreciate the calm respectful tone!
      I agree that we all have to place belief in something to an extent. I can't replicate all these experiments and discoveries that have lead to our body of knowledge and need to rely on the work of others. I do, however, take comfort in the fact that much of these findings have been replicated and confirmed by others and should new data arrive, it would change the way we see things.
      Ultimately though, we've taken giant leaps as far as understanding our world and much of what used to be mysterious to us no longer is. I don't know whether we will ever fully understand the universe, but we've come far enough and uncovered enough of what used to seem impossible to us that I feel we should move past this mentality of "we don't understand therefore it must be god". It seems like something that will only hold us back from discovering what the truth may be if we've already decided on a truth because it's the easiest to understand and explain at the current moment.
      I mean no disrespect here. I have no idea what lead you to your beliefs and clearly we've had some different experiences(I was raised catholic and eventually left those beliefs behind).

    • @imagomonkei
      @imagomonkei 6 лет назад +1

      1. To answer your first question, the laws of nature demand a Creator that is not part of nature. Mass and energy cannot be created or destroyed, and energy always tends toward the lowest state. The universe requires a beginning that is outside itself. Secular physicists have their own ideas such as the multiverse, but it is an idea born out of desperation, because physics requires a Creator.
      2. As for why one God and not another, that question requires knowing about a variety of religions. Study them. Most gods and incompetent fools, little more than glorified humans. Some gods can even die! When compared with the God of the Judeo-Christian Bible, all other gods are pathetic and crumble before him.
      3. God is, by definition, uncreated. _Something_ must be uncreated. If the God of the Bible were created, then whatever made _him_ would be God. But as it stands, Yahweh is the God of gods.
      4. Vin already answered why the world is so messed up. God allows us to choose good or evil, and we must suffer the consequences. He put mankind on Earth to govern Creation, but we have thoroughly botched that. Our evil is the cause of the damage in the world, but God will destroy evil in a day in the future.

    • @SimonH109
      @SimonH109 6 лет назад

      First off, I appreciate you taking the time to come up with a complete, thought out response and staying respectful the whole way. Now to address the points:
      1.Our understanding of nature has been growing since the very dawn of time. There are loads of topics that we used to answer using religion (age of the earth, origin of species, etc) that science has been able to uncover evidence to answer since. So I don't see why we should assume this is any different, there may very well be an answer waiting for us to discover it (maybe that answer is a divine creator but it's just as likely that it isn't as far as I'm concerned and even if it is then I don't see it being one as described by the Christian religion but I'm bleeding into point 2 now).
      2. Saying your god is better than those other gods (which seems to be the bulk of your point here) isn't proof for your gods existence.
      3. I mean that exception needs to be made for your worldview to make sense but is it a fair exception to make? Also is God uncreated because he is God or is he God because he is uncreated?
      4. And my question was as to why an all loving, all powerful, all knowing god would do this? What was the point of creating us as such if he knew we would botch it up anyway? What is the point of our existence on earth if he could have simply created the perfect world in heaven and foregone this whole process? I've heard explanations similar to yours before but they don't answer the fundamental questions behind it all.

    If you want stuff that’s somewhat similar to BTA, with a lot of melodic sounds, definitely check out Hope For The Dying. My suggestions would be Trenches or Transcend. Also, the vocalist on this BTA song, Jason Wisdom, did guest vocals on the song Nemesis by Hope For The Dying. Both BTA and HFTD are among my favorite bands with Dissimulation being one of my absolute favorite albums (and to top it all off, every song flows so well into the next, it’s so difficult to stop anywhere mid album).

      Actually I was just thinking a song with some similarities conceptually (well mainly towards the end of it) to this one is Open Up The Sky. It’s quite a long song, though, so fair warning lol. The others are kinda long, but this one’s almost twice as long.

    Nerdy, artist rendering of me, a wish for things that work, slice paper wrists (really anything off of "the opposite of December album") letter thing, slow good morning, sparks it will rain, cinema, and pamplemousse are all amazing songs to start with.

    You need to check Mortification - Scrolls of the Megiloth. Australian Christian death metal band (more thrash or groove these days) that have been going since the late 80s. Lyrics are bible focused. I don't dig much of their material but the song/album Scrolls of the Megiloth is worth your time.

    14:10 even as a Christian, this floored me. Absolutely spot on. This is the beauty of God sending His only son for us. 33:21 I also completely get where she’s coming from. Perception=reality and when someone perceives the Bible in a certain way, it can misconstrue who God really is

    On the point about people seeing Christians as arrogant and acting like we’re so special that God would have sent His Son to die for me even if I were the only human, I can understand someone from the outside looking in viewing it that way. However, if you look deeper into Christian beliefs, we believe that we absolutely do not deserve it. It’s more of a testament to God’s amazing grace and mercy than to our own self-importance. Another song I love is The King by Wolves at the Gate. It beautifully illustrates that with the following lines:
    You left Your throne on high to live with this fallen race
    To answer this age old cry "We need Your grace! We need Your grace!
    Of the wicked redeemed, a need for a King
    To seek and save the lost
    Humbly You came to serve (Humbly You came to serve)
    This grace we do not deserve (This grace that we just could not afford)
    To take on our sin, Ye righteous and pure
    You came knowing the full cost

    Will a person in some obscure part of India, who's never heard of Christianity or Jesus, but lives a good, pious life go to Christian heaven?

    • @tisha84tmd
      @tisha84tmd 6 лет назад +1

      Chinmoy Sarma Paul actually speaks to this. If someone Has never heard the gospel or of christ, God, or the like, but live PERFECT according to their own concience they get a pass. But thats the problem Gods standard is Blameless perfection. The old testament says sin must be atoned for with blood. Christ who was sinless and the one person ever who didnt deserve to die, was raised up by God as an acceptable sacrifice in our place. 2 things must happen in order to be "saved." 1. you must acknowledge your sin, realize you're broken and that you can never meet Gods standard 2. Believe, Christ was sinless and died and then suffered in hell so you dont have to. That is all, simply understand your sin, and believes its already been paid for. Then live in holiness as a response to Mercy!
      I hope that all makes sense.

    Not a fan of the vocals with this style of metal. This song with in a major key I think would pair better with a singer that sings like dragonforce. Musically it has that feeling of epicness rising but vocally it sound like it should be tied to a heavy, low riff.
