Hours and hours on this thing. I had forgotten all about it and saw it on facebook and was immediately reminded for the first time in 27 years that this thing existed. I remember being obsessed with it. Now I have an old Camaro I autocross all the time... I wonder how that obsession started...
This just put a smile to my face. Always wondered if anyone else had one as a kid. Nice to see others that remember this. Thank you for uploading this, although I came to find it years later.
My buddy had this and the cop version when I was a wee kid; we used to intentionally play in the darkest part of the house so the lights came out brighter; whoever played as the cop would sit a few feet behind the Corvette driver; and if you crashed you were caught by the cops, but if the cops crashed you got away... GTA multiplayer in 1980 something... And they were that noisy, cause I remember his mom having a mental break down one day from them and her clarifying how they were giving her a head ache and driving her crazy...
OH MY GOD THE NOSTALGIA! I had one of these that I took apart and messed with a ton. I rigged up an actual throttle pedal so I could vary the speed (I was maybe 12) and also added a cruise control button. Good times.
😂. I was in the 7th grade in 1985. My parents asked me what I wanted for my birthday, I told them a handheld digital racing game. This is what I got...... I had to fake a smile and grin and bear it. The squeaky toy horn put the nail in the coffin. Needless to say It didn't get much play time. .
Man i used to take this on car trips as a kid. I would wait until we were driving at night and ide turn it on and pretend i was driving the real car. Good memories!
The neighbor kid had this, but he never let me play. Once I was at his house and he had to take a dump, and I knew my time has finally come. But as I turned the key, it turned out that the damned batteries were dead...
i had this as a kid and loved it! of course i did it more as pretending it was a car and not so much playing the screen game. and the turn signals lit up on mine
Damn I had one of these too. Never knew what happened to it. Its funny how so much stuff from my childhood just disappeared. So pissed at my parents for moving all the damn time i reckon half of the shit was flogged my removalists or binned.
I dunno about this one being _superior_ to the Tomy model. This one's got a few more cut corners: the "car" is painted on the screen instead of being a moving element; and overall it's a lot less interesting to look at (but then again, I've always loved big, cluttered, mad-looking dashboards). Do bear in mind, I _had_ this when I was very young, and it served as my "DeLorean Time Machine" for several years. That's why, when I first saw the Tomy one a few years ago, I had a little twinge of "Ooh, why didn't I have _that one_ ?"
Man I loved this toy back in the day I. Played it so much that the batteries would go completely bad 🤣 I also had another one that was magnetic and it had a disk sort of highway road and a small car and as you would turn the magnet at the bottom would steer the care around obstacles
This is the version I had but am I crazy? Is this the Mandella effect? I swear, it somehow had curves in the road, you had to follow, left and right, until it looped around. Not a clue how that would work, I just swear I remember that.
I'm sure someone will hack it and put an hdlcd TV on it, or an iPad, put Mario kart 64 on it, hack the wheel and play Mario kart 64 on it until the wife throws it out the window..
Hi can someone pleaseee help me bought this on eBay put D batteries will not work. The electric copper prongea have been replaced w tiny blue sponges. It would mean the world to me to have it repaired please someone help me.
Same here i wanted it from father but it was his 2 month salary in turkey.was expensive bec of taxes not able to buy.30 years passed now i am driving 2020 model mercedes.life.....

Holy hell I forgot about the horn! Something so simple could keep us entertained for hours.
Talk about a blast from the past. I had no expectation actually finding this when i googled. Was my fav toy as a toddler.
Spent hours on this growing up! Reminds me of the house I grew up in and how young my siblings were. Nostalgic ❤
Toys back in the day were simple, yet brilliant.
This brought back so many memories
I wish the person who thought of making this creation, lives every moment with the joy that every child felt from this game.

i had this as a kid and loved it! of course i did it more as pretending it was a car and not so much playing the screen game. and the turn signals lit up on mine
This is just beautiful, I would have totally wanted one as a kid!
I also had the version with the "car on a stick." IIRC, the screen was "open," so you could reach into it (if you wanted).
The first time .. I saw this as a kid… I was in disbelief..
The load ass noise made u feel like.. u we’re dead ass driving
I still want one even at 34.. one day when my kids are older and I have room I might grab one just to tick it off my 6 years old self bucket list

It was my favorite toy ever spent hours and 10,000 miles
I was only aware the tomy one existed. I always craved one as a kid because it looked amazing but sadly I never got one.
