    I really like how in this video you can see that there isn’t a rush. I know y’all are scaling up production and having to training new people; despite that, taking the time for quality work is the priority. Good to know that the boots I ordered won’t be rushed!

    I just wish you guys would make a pair of leather slip-on shoes like Redwing used to make. Id buy them in a heartbeat.

    Just curious why the stitches on the sole are not guarded by being placed in a grove. It seems to me that just walking would wear through the threads in no time.

    I got so nervous when he was hammering in the nails during the lasting process that he was going to hit his finger lmao, very glad he didn't. Also, this stuff is like ASMR to me and I have no idea why.

    Question: the machine that you run the leather edges sideways through, is it removing material or compressing it? I've never been able to figure out what its doing to change the edge shape.

    • @JinsKookieJams
      @JinsKookieJams 3 месяца назад +3

      *I did a lot of research about that because I was wondering myself. It removes part of the material to thin the area. It makes it easier late when the edges come together for gluing and stitching. The edges will be smooth and not have a thick layer. It makes it have a more high quality look 😊! I've seen other videos (not from this channel) with people using a skiving machine, and I saw the material edges falling down into a bucket.*

    Is it possible to have the Overlander with the Thurman toe? Or I need to order 8 inch builder pros on the HNW last? Will they be the same that way?

      I just received my custom overlanders @Wpive, which I had made with the Thurman toe box, on an HNW last, I am that happy with them, that I was going to order another pair, but in rough out for work, however Nick's don't appear to do a custom build option on the Overlander anymore.....

    I don't know if the idea of an overlanding boot is necessary. Do you know what I wear when I am driving for a long period of time? Slip-on Vans: They have thin enough soles so that I can really feel the gas pedal and clutch, I have full control of my ankle, so changing foot positions is easy and comfortable, and if we switch drivers and I am now the passenger, I can kick the shoes off and relax barefoot for a while. When I get to the next destination, on or off road, I will switch to boots or water shoes or sandals depending on what the activity is.

      So hilarious.
      Overlanding is not yuppies driving around in their sprinter van on a road trip.
      Overlanding is travelling cross country either on very very rough roads, basically rough tracks, or with no roads at all in a serious 4wd vehicle.
      Typically, when overlanding you are getting in and out of the vehicle constantly to scout terrain, get the vehicle unstuck, etc. Often you are standing in mud. Sometimes you are standing on the vehicle itself spotting for the driver. Sometimes when spotting you have to suddenly jump off the vehicle onto the ground if the ride gets too rough. Nobody wears slippers when overlanding.
      Overlanding is leaving civilization and any kind of maintained roads behind on a serious cross country journey into what you might call unsupported wilderness. That's why it's called OVERLANDING and not driving.

      Your initial statement makes precisely zero sense. Glad to know, though, that mom's car has a manual transmission and that she lets you drive once and awhile. Good for you, Mark.
