Reviews of clothing, boots, and accessories for men, along with style advice and life philosophy. I've been working with my hands for my entire life as a mechanic, tow truck driver, and eventually a licensed electrician. Being a blue collar guy, I look for certain elements in a product: is it durable? Is it high-quality? Will it perform well over its service life? Whether boots, pants, jackets, or tools I believe it's best to buy once and cry once by getting the best you can afford. With so many options these days, choosing the best product can become a difficult decision, but that's where I come in. Helping you stay stylish, rugged, and handsome.
I don't care where it's made as long as it's made well and allows you to own less and own better. - Хобби

Man I regret not getting a pair of those bison Traveler's!
When I look at the Nick’s Americana, all I can hear is Mike Myers from Wayne’s World saying “oh yes, it will be mine.” lol
Hahahaha
Dude same I got my iron rangers and was like “man I wish these had a leather midsole” and than I learned about nicks Americana. Just another excuse to get another boot down the line.
Hi Carl , you put me onto Nicks and since then I have purchased the Falcon , urban logger , overlander and the Merriman which should arrive by the end of the year . Those are what I feel is what I need and will wear. I have a bad hip/knee and the support these give me helps dealing with that. I'm 67 so I doubt I'll never wear mine out but fortunately my oldest son wears the same size and perhaps a grandson when they get older 👍
After watching most of your videos on boots I've decided to go for a pair of Nicks Heritage Tankers. They will be a casual wear for me since I am retired. This old dude likes easy on! Im in Vancouver Washington so I can drive to Nicks and get a hands on fitting and tour the facility. Thanks Carl for what you do, Ive turned many of my friends your way.
I don't own any Nicks boots but I'll definitely get one pair, considering Urban Logger and Americana! Thanks for your review on these Nicks.
awesome vid. just ordered heritage tankers for my twin. same size. thanks for all u do patina judge.
Great video! I really enjoy your content and friendly approachable demeanor. I'm not in construction, but I have high arch narrow feet and ride motorcycles. Everything available in stores are for wide flat feet. So, I bit the bullet and ordered a pair of White's Smokejumpers, standard black. I've had them 9 years, 1 resole, and one rebuild recently. Before I sent them for rebuild, I ordered a pair of Nick's Builder Pros in a light brown rough out. They are now my favorite, but I occasionally rotate the White's in. Next I will add a pair of Wesco Romeos for a more casual slip on when I don't need the support for riding and don't want to lace them up and down, but still want the arch support and quality.
Been waiting for this for a long time
Your review puts on to Nicks. I have the Urban Loggers and when you say that once you go high quality you can't go back I feel it. My boots before lasted 3 months, at a year in the Urban Loggers and they look fantastic 👌
Great choices in boots. Thank you for your input.
I have to say Carl I like how the video that gave you inspiration to buys Nick's was the same one that started me on that path
Awseome reviews. I really want Nick's lace to toe heritage boot. Maybe soon.
Just recently got my Carl Murawski edition Vintage Tanker's. What a great job Nick's did on these boots. I really hope they do more half soles, because these are absolutely beautiful boots. The all leather stack on the heel really gives it a extra special look. Any idea what Nick's is going to do when we need these re-soled?
Great video! Are you looking at doing a review on the top work boots? I'm looking at Whites, Nick's, JK Boots, and Frank's.
Karl, Thanks for the Sunday sermon at the altar of Nick's boots. I think they are the best American boots that are made. They are made to last. I am getting ready to pull the plug and get my first pair. I own Red Wings, Thursday's and Danner's as well. I just ordered a pair of White's and can't wait to see how they are. Thanks for your insights and I really enjoy your channel.
Thank you! I think you’ll be really impressed with Nicks boots, and you have some nice models to compare them against.
Great vid, is that Sever the Drama playing in the background 🤘
Hahahaha yessir!!!
No amount of marketing will ever convince me that crepe soles look good.
I think it's more that people who buy them are comfortable enough that they convince themselves that they look good. And then try to convince everyone else so they don't feel like they have to go back to less-comfortable shoes to be considered 'well dressed'.
Guys that used to rollerblade had to transition to something !
I have the short travelers in bison (your collaboration). I would have preferred a taller boot but the bison leather was intriguing. Very nice boots. Soft sole, soft leather. Great for my 60-something year old feet.
Wish I had know about PNW boots while I was still working out in the field. I wore Red Wings until they discontinued the boot I wore (they looked like Iron Rangers but were 8" boots and steel toes). None of the other steel toe Red Wings fit me. The best "cheap" steel toe boots I found were the Rocky MobiLites. Cheap bonded sole but the toe-box was properly made, and they are comfortable with minimal break-in.
I'm going to order the Nick's The Robert boot soon because of your first video on Nick's. Thanks
great vid, love the channel
Thank you very much!
Best shirt ever. Wore exactly the same one today!
Cause of you and rose anvil, I’ve decided to pick up a pair of Nicks Officer boots and now I’m patiently waiting for them to show up, I’m a 9.5 between C and D width so I went with 9C, hopefully they fit cause the wait time is brutal.
Just got mine after 29 weeks… worth the wait, hang in there :)
How'd you like them? Have the overlander but think I'd prefer the officer boot, might pick a pair up this year
Carl, you are a man after my own heart. People think I am crazy for owning 11 pairs of Hoffmann and Wesco lineman boots, but they are the boots that work for me. All are custom built because I broke my feet and ankles, both companies went out of their way to accommodate my situation.
I would enjoy seeing the resole process when you get that done.
I can get behind the Spend more on less thought process. When i was looking for a filson mackinaw cruiser 2nd hand, i cane a cross Pendleton and Woolrich mackinaw cruisers with the same button lay outs and slight differences. My plan is to put them under a Tensaw or Wills jacket. Eyeing a vintage Pendleton supposedly from the 50s
Unsure of how you prioritize the making of future videos, but wondering if you'd ever consider doing something on the Nick's Urban Drifter in Brown Waxed Flesh HNW last? I just bought a pair and really like them and I'd love to hear your opinion. They seem like a really great cross between the more dressy Nicks Falcon and the fairly substantial Nicks Urban Logger.
After six months, my Overlanders finally arrived. I was scheduled to leave for a hunting trip literally that week. I went to Redwing and had my foot 3-D measured, then bought a genuine Brannock device and measured with that, and then called Nick’s to talk to someone and get their opinion on what size would work best for me. I kid you not, after and hour or so I was no longer uncomfortable, and by the time I left on the trip they felt good. While going up and down the hills in the Arkansas Ozarks, they felt amazing. I’ve only had them for a few weeks now, but so far they are the best boots I’ve ever owned. Only thing close was a pair of Danner Ft Lewis’ I owned for 20 years. Will they last 20 years like the Danners? Time will tell, but so far I am extremely happy with the purchase.
*For the record, I landed on Nick’s because Danner and White’s, from what I understand, are both owned by a company in Japan. The Ft. Lewis and White’s are still made in USA, but the bulk of the profit goes overseas to the mother ship. To the best of my knowledge, Nick’s is 100% owned and sourced right here in the USA.
I’m eyeballing the Overlander. Nice to hear they are as good as they look.
I would not sweat whites being owned by a Japanese company. The Japanese are American heritage.
I got my builder pro literally the same way. My boots were so bad they cut my heel open and my sock was covered in blood. I looked up best built boots and found Carl right after he made his video and then went on to watch Wranglestar. The best 500 I have ever spent 3 years later.
Damn man, I'm so glad to hear that! Ultimately your boots are like a part of your tool kit, and if they aren't up to snuff they'll affect every part of your work.
Thanks Carl 💚 the builder pro number 1 cool cool. I have a pair on order 67 last 1964 choc smooth over rough out soft toe also a toe cap and honey vibram soles, hope to see them soon! Your videos have helped a lot cheers 💚
What last is your builder pros?
Hello Carl, I'm still rocking my Bison traveler and trying to wear them out! They need new soles and that's it after almost 2 years of wear!! I just ordered a new pair of urban loggers in #8CLX, can't wait for them to arrive!! Thanks Brother!!
That peanut bison leather is real cool, wish I had pulled the trigger on a pair.
I've been looking at Nics for years but the wait time is crazy
Your collection is impressive! Where do we sell the boots you don’t like any longer? eBay or is there a specialty site you recommend?
Those peanut bisons #1 are a bad ass boot! My preferred height and bulk for sure. I only wear 8+ in the winter
Great post, full of very good info, Carl. Now you need a pair of Nicks Overlanders to compare to the other 6! I love mine...LOL.
Oh great, just what I need: another pair of boots!!! 😆
@@CarlMurawski 😂
I'm still waiting on my Heritage Tankers. Hopefully they will get shipped out soon. I am looking forward to getting them!
Murawski collab, of course.
Starting an electrical apprentice soon, whats a good Nick's boot to get? I am a little hesitant with them since they have a lot of nails in them.
There are zero reviews on this jacket and I’d love it if you got one and told us how you think of it. The Duluth Trading AKHG Claimstake Waxed Trucker Jacket. I bought one because they aren’t as popular and they are currently on sale.
How’s the roughout do in wet or dusty conditions? I’ll be working in Seattle soon, would a smooth out be a better choice for this area?
I know you prefer Nick’s and have a couple of white’s would love to see a similar white’s ranking!
I got my first pair of Nick's for Christmas last year. NGL the breakin was brutal but I've worn nothing else since.
would love to hear your thoughts on the 'Wild and Free Supply' large messenger bag..thick leather good price
I will check it out!
I’m up to 4 pairs of White’s 😂 might be time for a pair of the Nicks Wedge Workers next.
I was this close to ordering a pair of the bison, but it was my first pair and I didn’t wanna risk not getting the fit right.
Im Still waiting on my heritage tanker 26 weeks later :/ I am happy that you feel they are an everyday boot, because that was my worry when buying them.
Would be interested in some reviews of JK boots
Hi Carl. Your response to criticism on "owning less" makes sense to me. I enjoy and would look forward to videos showing how your products are holding up and patinating (is that the word haha?). If I can leave feedback, your studio lighting is very dark and diffcult for me to see. Have a great day!
Nice video. What’s the first song playing?
What size are your lofgrens and how much would they go for.
I like Nick’s but my builder pros the leather near the heel the insole part started to peel after just wearing them for break in right when they were starting to really break in it was from sliding them off it started to peel and every time I put them back on I felt the peeled back leather on my foot I waited almost a year for these things and didn’t have time to send them back so I did the dumbest most irrational thing I used the only glue I had which was gorilla glue fixed the problem but now I’m walking around with what feels like hard plastic rest of the boot feels great though oddly it was left and right that this happened tough break I might buy another pair just bought jk boots ot pro hoping for a better experience
I love that Carhartt shirt. Can someone link it please?
I thought I had a few to many I also have 6 pair but mine are whites 2 pair of smoke jumpers 2 pair of cowboy packers and 2 pair of ranchers
And did you sell those Beutiful Evil cause way? I really hope obce finish my career degre and get some more mobey to purchase Kohn Lofgren or Eastman Tanker boot
My favorite is still Irish Setter 1000 gram , tall 10 inch , Red Wing , I’m in the woods !
Heritage tanker looks dope af
What’s the difference between the overlander, urban drifter, and urban logger
Still waiting on my vintage tanker pros
Considering buying the lace to toe boots, but im conflicted on the height. 6" looks a little stubby but they would be a little lighter than the 8". They would be just for walking and casual activities. Does anyone have a opinion on the best height for boots with just walking in mind?
Six inches is the way to go for walking and casual use. You will get real tired of lacing those extra two inches and the extra height does nothing for stability.
Mine are tactical model
What waist do you have on your builder pros. 55 or 67?
It's funny after you said you got called out I would basically start telling people do as I say not as I do I need content to post to show all of you
Hahaha right? It’s kind of shocking how many people think I’m just flexing my own collection.
@@CarlMurawski well if that's the case I'm glad you do because without you doing videos like this I would have never purchased a pair of Nick's a year ago after watching your Urban logger video
I’d like to see your thoughts on JK boots.
I just got my CDL, I definitely need a rugged work boot 😅😂
Congratulations man!!! Fun fact - if you have your class A CDL and an electrical license, generator rental companies will never stop calling you. They never.... stop....
I just got my Frank's T1 Commanders a couple days ago. I think Wranglerstar has turned a lot of us on to cool stuff.
For sure!!
I ordered my first pair, the Tanker Pro, based off your review of them. It looks like about a 6-8 month lead time with the try on process included. 😕
That's normal
Hey Carl I was wondering if you could by chance give me your cross reference size from your iron rangers to your builder pros I'm about to commit to the big purchase tomorrow. I'm a 9EE in the iron ranger but I was thinking and a 10 EE in thorogoods 8 was thinking possibly running A 9.5 E in the builders just wanted your thoughts? Thanks in advance
Its going to be really difficult to make a recommendation, but I can tell you that my builder pros are a full 1.5 sizes smaller than my Iron Rangers. Nicks would be the best source for this information since they know the most about their lasts and fits.
@@CarlMurawski thank you so much keep up the great work!🤙 IBEW lineman out of local 351 here love the vids!
You used to have a burgundy color pair of Nick's boots as far as I remember. I am trying to find that video but just can't find it anymore!
Those were the Whites MP I believe. Fantastic boots!
@@CarlMurawski oh that's why! Thanks.
I keep saying it, but I never roll ankles when the toe box is natural-foot shaped. Like keens - even 1/2 inch of room for toes to spread makes all the difference!
Wanna pull the trigger on the tankers but I really think I should earn my military set first.... Why oh why must my guard unit only shoot gunnery once a year....
The kilo of nails that go into each boot kind of puts me off wanting a pair !
I agree 1000% about the black tanker boots. I love mine. EZ to get on. I too can't get into my favorite pair of brown Engineer boots. It takes me a half hour too. Tanker is a great looking alternative to the Engineer.
just in time im in the market for a casualish nicks boot.
Cool! They have new models that look great too
I see Carl Murawski in my feed and I click
Hold up, you’re in CT!?!? I’m in the southeastern corner
I'm living in Spokane now I need to get down to Nicks and get fit for a pair. Bite the bullet.
lol....newb subscriber, newbie boot buyer.....these are nice let me go check them out.....*spit water out* 600 bucks?? lol.....damn props for having all these pairs 👏
Tanker Heritage = NICEness!
The hardest flex ever.
Still waiting on my Murawski X Nicks Tankers 🥺
I need a pair of tankers!
Hahaha damn Bill, you’re hankerin for a tanker my brother!!
@@CarlMurawski 😂😂😆😂🤣😆😂
Baller!
I have some builder pros, but I can't get them to break in. It's a shame because they are really good boots. But no matter how long I wore them, they'd leave my feet so sore at the end of the night.
If there is a specific part of the boot bothering you, you should manhandle them and bend that part over and over till it softens up.
Get some good insoles. Warm up your boots and oil them up
Carl , get you some Lucchese , chisos, or Rios of Mercedes boots ! If ya have to tie your boots , ya gotta be doing it wrong ! Haha ! Try a pair of Chisos #2. Trust me. Hand made boot company out of TX , small company , only 3-5 employees. They are hands down the most comfortable boots in the world !!
I’m always down to try something new!
@@CarlMurawski you will thank me !! Trust me. #2 in brushed brown leather or Roughout is absolutely beautiful, made with standards well above any boot maker today !
Lol, you explained the exact same way I came to the conclusion to purchase my first Nicks in 2017.
Thanks @Wranglerstar
Still have them, rebuilt twice
I am ordering a pair of tanker pro for my motorcycle boots
How do you get the Nicks built to your size?
If you go with the MTO option there is a fit sheet they’ll send you.
I don't need them, but man does that B-roll tell me otherwise
Carl, I know you're not much of a wallet guy, but I'd love for you to check out Open Seas Leather. They're super unique wallets, handmade in the US, use a wide range of leathers, and are very reasonably priced. I got the Hubei 2.0 and it's the best wallet I've ever used. They eluded to having kangaroo leather variants available soon so I might have to go out and buy a 2nd
Got you covered bro: ruclips.net/video/fCs8zcbnqf4/видео.html
0:34 You genius Carl. Perfect wife defusal
What leather are the Americanas?
Those are in natural waxed flesh
12 minutes of Nick's boots.
This works better than a fist full of Viagra. Thanks Carl!
Hahahahahaha best comment yet!!!
@@CarlMurawski My wife says your doing God's work.
Those Tanker Pros are wild! Could def see a goth chick rocking those lol
Gotta work on the lighting.
Awesome! Rank your whites!
Hahahaha I can! Though, I only have three pairs of Whites...
yea boots fetish xD
I’m really tempted to get their new womens boots.
Those look really cool, I'd like to see them too.
You got boots for 6 lifetimes.
Not sure about the background music but otherwise great video
There is absolutely no reason for steel toes this day and age . Composite is lighter, has the same impact resistance, and doesn’t freeze not to mention it doesn’t conduct electricity. SKIP THE STEEL TOES
