    Why is the EU store selling the Pinecil for three times the price of the US store? Ok there's about 20% VAT but the rest????

    Please ship the Pinecil Iron with a different default tip , such as TS-D24? The B2 tip is virtually useless. You would sell many more if we didn't need to buy additional tips to be useful. Or even better, how about allowing the buyer to choose a tip? Thanks.

    • @dangerous8333
      @dangerous8333 Год назад

      I love the B2 tip. Barely use anything else.
      If they had shipped it with anything else and I had to buy another tip I would have got a TS 100 instead.

      While I have nothing against the B2, I still (11 month after you comment) am disappointed that I would have to buy 2x5pc tip set, just to get the two additional ones I want... Why?

      @@yxcvmk I never bought the Pinecil because they don't listen to customers.

    I was a bit worried. I bought my pinecil (not knowing there would be a second version) in early June, and then you mentioned that all pinecil currently sold aren't legitimate, I had a little bit of a panic. I checked your amazon store though and saw that it was no longer selling. So I am confident that it is real.

    Will raw boards of the V2 Pinecil be offered? I have the V1 and an extra clear case already, so would rather swap the PCB instead of outright replacing it with a fully assembled one.

    I'm excited to see more about the Star64, particularly as I preordered a SiFive HiFive Unmatched in 2020, and Crowd Supply/Mouser botched delivery in 2021. I didn't even receive a refund until recently in 2022. I do have some other RISC-V SBCs, including a StarFive VisionFive, but they do not have PCIe. I am particularly curious whether SiFive's FU740 1.5GHz 28nm quad core 64bit RISC-V CPU will have sufficient bandwidth to drive a 10Gbps ethernet card at line rate for example. I know SiFive worked with TSMC on a 5nm proof of concept last year which was not released to market, and SiFive are apparently working with Intel on a future RISC-V project, but SiFive have been incredibly cagey in a bad way, and that Crowd Supply/Mouser debacle just soured me on them even further.

  • @camelCased
    @camelCased 2 года назад +3

    Sounds great!
    But I wish there was a Pinecil with shorter tips - for cases when I need precise coordination. I have bought a cheap USB soldering iron and I find it very convenient for sporadic Arduino projects. I have also a normal Velleman soldering iron, but that takes up space on my desk, so I have to put it away. Thus a portable and reliable soldering iron like Pinecil fits my needs well, but it might be less convenient to use when compared to the cheap USB pen from Aliexpress.

    • @armorgeddon
      @armorgeddon Год назад

      Since you own both could you tell me what the advantage if there are any of a "normal" as you call it soldering iron is compared to one in the pencil form factor?

    • @camelCased
      @camelCased Год назад

      @@armorgeddon Pencil is lighter, with a thinner wire, so it's much more responsive to movements and you feel less resistance from it. The shorter the tip, the easier it is to touch it to the right spot. It's "lever physics" - the farther your fingers are from the tip, the larger movements the tip makes in response to tiny movements or slight shaking of your hand, thus losing accuracy.

    Thanks for your work, looking for the OS RISC-V ISA to succeed, and the first RISC-V pinephone and pinetab if it happens.
    I would love a good and cheap pinewatch - phone, with NFC payments as Samsung already have around 200 € each. And an earbuds model with hooks or detachable ones, in order to fix them to teh ears as the Lenovo LP7 or similar.

    I just ordered the pinecil v2 from pine64 so will that come with updated firmware for 28v epr pd3.1 to use with my anker pd 3.1? If not can I pay to ship back both ways to have you update because I don't own a computer due to me having no idea how to use one...lol... I know.... that sounds crazy! Thanks for your help

      They only develop the hardware not the software they don't make enough profit to afford that unfortunately. And mms works with some effort i would rather prioritize performance and battery life

    • @ky5666
      @ky5666 2 года назад

      Pine64 doesn't develop the software. That said I am also disappointed that I cannot get MMS to work. I assume it has something to do with my provider specifically as others have reported it working. My biggest annoyance is that Manjaro Plasma mobile keeps crashing. Anything from navigating too fast to waking with the power button randomly deciding to crash instead.
