I'm working on getting a sponsor for server content. I need AWS credits and a license to really try some things out properly in todays modern Tableau server setup. This video was recorded right before it became even harder to run this kind of demo on a laptop.

great content, where can i find part 2? Can you illustrate how to make map display on Tableau Server? Our server is in an airgapped environment, so i need to configure the proxy to get the map display properly.

I recommend a timestamp table of contents so people can skip to the parts they want to see. For example, the whole virtualization process in the beginning is more of a backstory than pertinent to the actual Tableau Server install process -- if I was someone new to installing TS this bit would've been confusing.
I agree that Tableau pointing to Online for the Everybody's Install Guide is silly. It makes it appear that the marketing team is guiding the technical documentation team, which is wrong.
As for other topics, SSL is something I see often in the Tableau forums and causes so much grief. So how to set up the TS environment for SSL would be helpful.
Ah you reminded me !! The chapters thanks for that nudge such an obvious miss from me I had them done just haven’t pasted them in. Will add these when I’m home. On my phone atm.
SSL is on the list. I’d want to do that on AWS to get closer to a more realistic example of the real world.

How would I got about upgrading/migrating data to another server.
That needs more than a comment and video to answer. Tableau have documentation that explains this clearly. Upgrading and migrating are the same thing if you think about. Migrating means you moving from one environment to another but upgrading your not. Steps are the same with some additional details you can find here help.tableau.com/current/server/en-us/upgrade.htm

What do you mean by this? Do you mean how do you create a server health check? There is also a view as part of the Advanced management add on that has some useful info that could be considered part of the health check. Post your reply as a new comment otherwise I don't get the notification.

Hey Tim! In our organization, we are going to deploy Tableau servers. For the AD, we plan on using AZURE AD. How would I go about synchronizing the users and groups from AZURE AD to our Tableau server which is on prem server ?
Im not sure that can be answered as a comment here. Have you check tableaus documentation? Ad groups setup is something well documented.
@@TableauTim yea I have.. can’t seem to find anything useful there. Am just wondering if I do a fresh install of Tableau server with “local” as the identity store option. Then proceed with the SAML integration with azure, will I still be able to bring in the groups and users that are on Azure to Tableau server?
