Mike, this is so good for people like me just starting their camera journey! I think we all to some extent how the time of day light can affect our images, but not nearly to the extent you show in this ten minute video. It really his the point home for me. Thank you for this!
Thank you @jeff bruer. Glad it helped clear some confusion for you. If you found this one usefull, have you had a look at My Masterclass course which this short video is a tiny part of? I think you'll find it valuable and even more from it... Check out the 7 free lessons for more. Link below.... 🙏😊 www.photographycourses.biz/masterclass
You were my first photography "teacher" here on RUclips when I started in 2017 with my Panasonic GX80 and a kit lens. And you're still one of the best here: vivid, clear, friendly, approachable - hehe - a didactic firework display :-D. Many thanks and greetings from Germany.
That was excellent Mike, thank you. I've been told on so many occasions that no matter how good your subject or composition in landscape is, if the light isn't right it can turn a good photograph into nothing more than a snap.
Hi Sir, I always liked photography but somehow didn't take it seriously. I started watching photography videos on RUclips in 2017 and frankly I was so impressed by your teaching that, I bought a secondhand DSLR D300 and started taking photography seriously. Thank you so much sir. God bless you.
Been watching a few of your videos lately. Took a 15 year break from photography after a twenty year run of doing wedding and portrait photography in the late 1990-early 2000s. Just subscribed to Gary Gough's channel last night, yours tonight. Thank you sir for sharing your passion for photography with us. I really enjoy your channel.
I love how you show real examples. Wow, how lucky is Thor to have that view out of his window? I loved the last image with the light on the building with those clouds.
I find that when I have the luxury of time I tend to shoot in the first third and last third of the day.......... Siesta in the middle third when the light typically gets harsh or boring! Thanks Mike!

Mike your definitely the best photography teacher on RUclips.
Always nice and informative to watch 👍
That's a big compliment - thank you.
The difference in water levels through the day also made a huge difference to the results.
Yes you're right Peter - many factors to be included 🙂
Basic but very effective teaching. Simple but solid. Thank you sir.
Thank you as always Dr Nimish 👍

Thank you Tanweer.
It's really important to be patient. So either you are outside alone or is with someone who really understand it takes time to get the right light.
Very very true.
I find that when I have the luxury of time I tend to shoot in the first third and last third of the day.......... Siesta in the middle third when the light typically gets harsh or boring!
