It should be noted from the time you learn Art of War at 46, until Broil Mastery at 54, Art of War is your best damaging attack *over* Ruin (same potency, no cast time, plus you can get in autos!) so your rotation at 50 can just be keeping up Bio II and using Art of War every GCD, even in single target.
Correction: While it isn't exactly much of a difference, Art of War actually has *higher* potency at 165 over Ruin's 150. I know, nitpicky, but if anyone needed more incentive to use Art of War over Ruin before Lv 54... There ya go.
It's worth noting that Fey Illumination only increases healing done by Spells (Like Physick, Adlo, and Succor), not abilities (Lustrate, Embrace, Whispering Dawn, Sacred Soil, Excog, etc). One should also try to shield the tank *before* the next pull/ immediately after the previous pull, but not *during* as to not gain accidental aggro. Nice crisp foundational guide!
I mean any tank worth their salt is going to make sure that little amount of aggro you get isn't going to make a difference, better advice would be to stick right with the tank until the pull is done
Quick question, doesn't Scholar level simultaneously with Summoner? Like if you level one job up to LV. 76 for instance, the other job will automatically be leveled to the same level, though still needing to do the role quests?
I happened to just look up Slidecasting, and apparently you can move as soon as the mana is actually spent. Others recommended just leaving an emote on the hotbar as it's disabled (dimmed) while casting, and lights up as soon as you can move safely. So those are two visual cues for when you can move.
Solid intro guide. Love the way you break it down. I find it helpful to “place” my fairy for bosses, then call her back to “heel” before moving on to next area. Both commands are on the pet bar and it helps her be in range for whole party. If you don’t call her back to “heel” she will despawn. Also, Repose can interrupt. It’s rarely needed has a cast time vs insta but I have it on my third row for giggles. Swift cast + Adlo for big pulls is helpful on the move SCH at 90 is the best healer ❤🧚
Thank you so much, I've maxed out my summoner and was thinking about playing Scholar as I prefer shield healers over pure. Hope you do the higher levels next
Just started using SCH this week and your video really helped. I've managed to level most of my other job/classes to 100 but I did SMN and neglected my SCH. After a week of just "figuring it out", a lil research and a few xlicks layer made more cozy w the job. Thanks for the upload 👍🏾
As someone who is looking to get into Scholar, this was a fantastic guide. I watched quite a few others and rhey spoke WAY ro fast. This was well constructed, and i loved the skill visuals as you described the rotation. It'll help me learn it faster i feel!
I love using Scholar, definitely a lot more than WHM. Also the leveling experience (like the actual experience, not the exp points) is sooo much better than WHM.
So I do have a small curiosity about the lvl 50 single-target rotation: Is it not better to start with a Bio? Instead of having that first gcd without any dot damage? I guess what I’m wondering is, is there a reason to initiate combat with Ruin?
Hm...I never considered using Rescue to pull an ally into certain death. The whole, "if I'm going down, you're going down with me." Thanks for the tip! I really love Scholar. Mine is at 89 (so close to 90) and is my highest job so far. It has such a nice flow to it. One thing I want to know though, is there much point in using Physick once Adloquium is unlocked? I know it's a difference of direct/shield healing, but it just doesn't fit into a handy spot on my skill bar the way I have my controller set up.
This was nice. Scholar is my healer class and I struggle a bit to keep up with healing. Especially when the tank tries to drag as many enemies as they can. Wish the single target heals were a bit stronger or that the fairy had both more range and used Embrace more often.
You might want to talk about where to put the fairy, if at all using the pet move commands. I usually stick mine under the tank, but that may not be the right way to play it in general.
@@brandylamar2957I have scholar at max level. And if you genuinely think scholar is weak then that's a severe skill issue on your part. Every job is viable in all levels of content
I just pick up scholar and don't know if I can play it. Not because it is bad but because I can't pay attention when playing it. White mage i get blinding holy spells flash banging me to keep my attention, sage I have eukrasian to flip on and off for no reason and kardia swapping between targets, and with astro I have cards to play with. Scholar the fairy does everything for me. I place it down and spam ruin. The last 2 dungeons I have let my tank die not because I couldnt heal them but because I was looking at the second monitor mid pulls and my tank stood in an AOE and I didnt see until too late.
I got Sch up to lvl 90 bc smn but I have no clue how to play this class 😅 i somehow stumbled successfully thru lvl 80 and 90 role class quest but it you'd ask me to heal you bet on floortanking like 98% of the time 😂

Nice tip - wouldn't have thought about that.
So spammy though. Over, and over, and over...omg bring back Scholar in 4.0 Square!!!
You're wrong, extra ruine is instant, potency 220, and better range, still better use than the level 54 broil

Yes, Summoner and Scholar share the “Arcanist XP” gains and level simultaneously.

Good video, just got into the game and this is the perfect balance of video length, explanation and simplicity

Thank you so much for your videos! They're helping me to re-understand all the jobs again.

This is very helpful, i grabbed Scholar today and i am unsure on what to do but this will definitely help

Only when playing in low level dungeons where you don't have Adlo unlocked really

I was sorting out skills for SCH, noticed Eos was there, but Selene wasn't. Please tell me they didn't get rid of Selene, did they?
damage mitigation like crazy and party wide fairie regen goes brrrrrrrrrr 🎉 i love being a big dumb scholar main ❤
Just wait till ur higher level with this class not fun weak

Is scholar worth playing? I mean i always heard or read that it's the worst healer etc but summoning fairies seraphs is so cool
thanks for the tip abt rescue, I'll be sure to make sure the tank is in the aoe so that we both die!
Great video it helped very much. Thank you.
Random but what made you go from lala to cat boy, im considering the same for dawntrail
Nice guide, bro.
Thank you dude ! This really helped
Yes finally fk that stupid pet before Job Change this skills we're so annoying
Im new to ff14. So do i start lvl 1 again when i get Scholar Job done?
I'm in Post Shadowbringer content and not sure if there's a rotation for the skills. 😢

Just gotta get you a few more levels. All the jobs are a bit boring before 60
