I'm mostly a visual learner. You have no idea how much I resort to your videos to clear things up, and of course, I always feel like you're my haven! Thank you for saving so many fogged up brains. :-)
I'm sobbing right now. You don't know how relieved I am. We have problems like these in our activity and our prof didn't mentioned those in the files that he gave. Thank you so much!
At the moment, I’ll likely won’t need to use this video as I will not be starting my math course until the end of April, but I just wanted to say that I hope you’re doing well and thank you again for helping out countless viewers :) Update: Currently needing this specific video for Unit 3 of my math course!
Bro you don't even realise that you have provided so much indepth knowledge to so many people of multiple topics, due to which they are able to well perform in their exam. salute you man
I have the utmost gratitude for the impeccable videos that you make. You literally make math significantly less frustrating and (almost) fun lol. I am struggling to get through my last college math course and following your videos makes it that much more bearable. Thank you JG, you are the Master Jedi of math.
OMG I needed this!! My online algebra class is using a 11 year old youtube video that SUCKS compared to this Your explanation is amazing! Thank you for your work
I just wanna say this is the second time you saved me! First was chemistry and now math. I really appreciate your work, You explained everything so well and clearly. I was working on a problem for hours and not getting it, but after watching your video I finished all the problems within 20 minutes. you explained it so much better than my teacher LMAO! Thank you so much I appreciate your work!
oh i get it now!!!! thank you so much!!!! i’m pissed that i missed this one on the exam because i had a weak understanding of it. my professor didn’t explain it thoroughly like you did! ugh, i’m gonna be referring to your videos next time my professor’s lectures are lacking!!
haha faced the same problem today! my exam would’ve gone so much better if i had had a more solid understanding of these transformations. glad i found this video so i don’t make those same mistakes again
MR. Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for another monster video/lecture on Transformations of Functions. Graphs recognitions are very helpful when learning Transformations of Functions.
im confused about 18:13. if (3-x) =+3 that would a horizontal shift to left 3 why is the square root of 3-x which is +3 not also a horizontal shift to the left ?
take (x+3) as an example, normally you will say it a horizontal shift to the left, right? so it is bc x + 3 = 0 x = -3 is a negative shift so, the same with 3-x; 3-x = 0 only when x = 3 which is a positive, so we have a horizontal shift to the right
19:37 I thought whatever was in the bracket of x, the number inside is the opposite of what the horizontal translation taking place -- shouldnt this be a horizontal shift to the left ? Could someone help me
@@ay3ron it will be a shift to the left since is +3. If its f(x + c) then x + c = 0 then x = -c. So it will be be shifted 3 units to the left. He made a mistake.
I wacth towns of your videos and help me alor and recommended to almost all my friends and they find it useful and my school has aks me if I want to be math tutor in math class that was all bc of you
Thank you so much for your help JG. Quick questions. When you are altering the x values for the horizontal transformations (11:00 minute) do you apply the reciprocal of 2 and 1/2 to get the new values of x?
I never did well in algebra (I was good at geometry and decent at trig) but the word "pre-calc" scared me, so I stopped math courses and I'm regretting it now. I make the same mistakes in algebra that I did as a kid, which I found interesting, so I need to slow down and try to be smart about things. but other than that, I really enjoy pre-calc. May have to brush up on all the Trig I can before moving on to Calculus.
My exam Is tonight and I've learned more 12 minutes into the video than my instructor has taught in 6 weeks. Im watching all these videos hope I can pass ;)
SQR(2x) can also be written as SQR(2)timesSQR(x) according to the rules, am I right? So, doesn't this mean a vertical stretch of SQR(2)(>1) beside a horizontal shrink? It is not yet clear to me that people only describe this function as a horizontal shrink! thanks in advance for your attention...

Yeah. I was also thinking the same as we can take f(×)=(-x)½ then (-x+3)½can be written as f(x+3) which should shift towards left.
