  • How much volume can your eardrum handle before bursting?
    Subscribe to our channel: bit.ly/Subscribe-to-Brainiac
We’ve all heard that same old tired spiel from our parents. “Turn down your music, or you’ll go deaf!” The standard response is to shrug your shoulders, or roll your eyes, and think about how lame safety is. But what if we told you, your parents were right?
Listening to loud enough noises for an extended period of time can lead to hearing loss, and noises above a certain threshold can even RUPTURE your eardrum!
So check out the video above, and we’ll answer all your innermost questions. Questions like, exactly how loud does a sound have to be for it to rupture your eardrum? What does a burst eardrum feel like? And if you burst your eardrum, will you ever be able to hear again?
Stick around ‘til the end, and you’ll even find out about a peculiar benefit of rupturing your ears (and the reason why a particular tribe of seafaring folk called the Bajau purposefully do it to themselves)!
Still listening? Okay, let's dive in!

Nope your wrong one of the most loudest screams are about 130 decibels and plus a scream is usually maybe 0.1 second to 10 seconds thats not enough time for the scream to rapture your eardrum becuase a scream that high would require a lot of breath and the person would probally run out of breath at like 4 seconds.

    My "nightmare" story with nightclubs:
I went to this road called Khaosan Road in Bangkok Thailand (some of you might be familiar with this road). Every night, EVERY single night club would BURST there loud music at its max! Let me tell you, the front of Khaosan Road is not loud but its only when you enter the back of the road THIS is where we go CRAZY!
Music going left and right is insane! (The back of the road sound you blasting 1,000,000 speakers at it's max).
It was so loud, that my family and I couldn't continue walking through it because it was THAT loud. After we got out, my heart POUNDED so hard on my chest because I had to SCREAM at my parents for them to hear me. I was scared because the vibration of the speaker's were TERRIFYING. I could hear or even see the vibration of the music coming out of the speakers. And that's how scared I was..
Anyway after we got out we went to McDonald's to have a cheese burger and fries. My ear were still a bit damaged from the all the night club in Khaosan Road..
But now I am trying stay away from Khaosan Road because over there they partying ,liked full on animals. It was also a known to have alcohol, so ambulances and policemens were there too.
Any who now I am I will never go to a night club (because I'm a minor of course) but when I reach 18...I still won't go.
This story was written by a 14 year old girl; Miss Thailand
Thank you for reading and sorry if I wasted your time 🙏

Hi I actually hurt my ear when I was younger. Me and my friends were in my garage when we found some cap gun ammo. A cap gun is a gun that makes the noise but nothing comes out. Like I was saying we found the Ammo and thought it would be a good idea to hit 5 of the ammo at once. Then boom. Are ears started ringing for like a minute or two because we were inside which made it louder because the sound bounce of the walls. So done hit cap gun ammo with a hammer

Not sure I agree with 150db being the burst threshold for eardrums.
Lower frequencies, below 60hz, at high intensity (155-160db) are pretty common in the high end car audio world and I don't know of any reported cases of a burst eardrum from those activities
