The game is really starting to take shape! I’m super excited to see how it all evolves.
hi
Didn’t expect you here!
It's looking pretty great!
I love the line about the "sad things game developer's get excited about". 😅
Tiny tiny little things that most players won't care about, but make us all very happy. lol.
Yeah... TMW you spent 2 days making a value show up in the debug and you go run around your house in joy.
That grabbing units and putting them somewhere else really made the game 10 times better fantastic idea!
The music sounds amazing, I am always amazed by how talented you are! I also love the fact that you dont give up and keep working on the things you love.
What a beautiful comment!
Dafugg, your "music experiments" sounded great, more info about this please 😀👍. Nice Devlog, good luck with your journey🙂.
I hope the finished soundtrack is as much of a banger as will you snail's soundtrack
@@levithe2nd True, i am already excited to see the full result. 🙂
I think the option to choose which tower it evolves into is a really good idea! players can figure out what playstyle works best for them. I think having more options like that will benefit the game quite a lot.
That's a cool and unique intro.
(I was also wondering when would be the next devlog quite recently. )
Agreed. Also, a*
@@woutervanduin7415 Thx! Fixed it.
This is by far my favorite devlog series. Thanks for all the work you put into sharing your journey with us Jonas.
The first song was the best. Keep up the great work!
2:23 As a person who waited 4 GODDAMN years for WillYouSnail?, I'm not surprised at all lol
Yay! New updates on thronefall! Good luck with the rest of the development!
Please make this Game with Graphics Settings so i can play it on my Toaster.
Your music is always amazing Jonas. Keep it up!
So excited to watch this after finishing school! Continue making this amazing dev logs and videos and your channel will grow more and more!
love how this is coming together!
I don't think I've ever been this hyped for a devlog series.
You weren't for Will You Snail?
@@-Teague- I was really hyped for WYS. In fact, my hype increased and still increases with every video, so I think this new series has gotten to a new level.
@@theothetorch8016 their hype level is over 9000!
Dude, I'm stealing that time effort/importance thing! This is genius!
Thronefall looks great! Can't wait to play it!
Just bought the early access on Steam. You guys are incredible! My new favorite game of 2023.
What I think it would be really dope is a Charge attack:
You HOLD a button and then your character launches forward, doing small damage and pushing enemies (with this low damage you don't break the balance too much and making it push enemies makes it a defend ability, you can push them from attacking a building).
Move fast and push is something that always makes a combat fun, even if it almost does nothing.
Anyway the game is looking even better with every update, love your games!
You made ThroneFall? Damn i have been watching gameplay of that game for weeks now and i am addicted.
Yeah the customization and the unit orders look great.
Keep up the great work.
Would love to see the character using a horn occasionally (Boromir moment?) when grabbing nearby units. Really, really enjoying these devlogs, and can't wait to play!
also cool start of 20 seconds of video !
Funny :) and insteresting !
I love how the game is turning out, it looks really fun
HEY JONAS!!!! YOUR TOP STEAM TAGS STILL CONTAINS INDIE!!!
Your videos are always engaging, entertaining and useful. Great job
Yo, I can't wait till the day I can tell someone I watched a game's development from start to finish
I don't have anything interesting to say but I know how much devs love getting comments on their videos. I really enjoyed watching this and it's great to see the game taking shape. Play testing is so good - so painful to hear sometimes but SO valuable! As others have said, can also totally relate to that line about the "little things that game developers get excited about". Keep going guys!
Your videos are always getting better. I'm excited to try this game out. You always have interesting game mechanics and gameplay loops. ❤
Love these Thronefall devlogs! Definitely going to play the game when it releases!
the music in 10:00 is Amaizing!!!
7:30 Whats funny is how desensitized Jonas is at this point. The definitive gamedev experience
Jonas, that modern version of the music track is super cool!
suggestion from a lowly former gamedev, how about paying to have trees and rocks removed? Could be an interesting mechanic where in some areas you have to clear them out to build on them
The "follow me" mechanic feels so epic
The first music approach fit the game way better than the second. The music in the video was almost perfect though.
Love the music! Great job Jonas!
That intro was gold! 🤣
I like the idea of the enemy base also growing each day.
That's the kind of game I dream to build one day ! Awesome work
I love the fact, that the Level names are german.
And your pronouncation was spot on.
Very nice work! The game is shaping up very nicely. Think the idea of being able to vacuum up units and position them is super great!
love your devlogs. keep going Jonas!
Amazing to see the game taking shape!
The feedback you incorporated made the game sooo much more exciting! Can't wait to get my hands on it!
this is your most exciting game yet! I really love the tower customization options feature. it reminds me of kingdoms & castles and kingdom rush. good job so far!
Love the video and awesome game concept and progress 👍
I first found your channel, when you were deciding who won the 1000$ in the Barji vs PolyMars contest. Then, I checked out your game Will You Snail, even though it was already from a year ago. It was amazing! I fell in love with it, and I was curious on what things you have been doing now. Have a cookie for your efforts! 🍪
This is looking great. The game's premise reminds me a lot of Kingdom: Two Crowns, except in 3D. I haven't seen previous devlogs, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was actually a main inspiration.
this seems exactly my type of game, just heard of it from this video right now, looking forward to it. wishlisting
Your Humour is Gold!
this game made me think of a cool idea.
Basically you build a castle with top down 2.5, but then when you switch to battling, and resource gathering, you play a 3d first person character
the first music experiment, that had the medieval vibe was amazing! I'd totally go for that
2:00 I love text save files so much
Also you should let them jump into the river
It would be funny
I think islanders style music would work great with this game!
Gosh i LOVE the artstyle. The toon shader is amazing and I love the outlines. Works really well with the low-poly style (as you would expect). Nice!
LETS GO ANOTHER DEV LOG, BEN BONK MADE ONE JUST YESTERDAY
Looking really cool :D
cool ! this update makes this game more interesting to play !
I love how the game is coming together. Though it would be nice to see some relatable npcs and a small community.
The first music experiment was incredible! i personally think it suits the game perfectly
If someone put a gun to the back of my head and said “unsubscribe from Jonas Taylor” I would close my eyes and prepare to enter the gates
the game is really starting to take shape, that shape being a Dodecahedron
1:36 Absolute Banger
Looking great! Having a mixture of auto attack + activation attack seems like a good idea!
Quick tip from a musician here: repetition legitimizes. repetition legitimizes. repetition legitimizes.
Basically, if you come up with some short melody, play it multiple times and maybe have small variations so that the listener subconsciously catches on and can easily sing along with it after a few listens. It makes the music more memorable and therefore sounds better as it sounds familiar.
This game looks epic, great job guys!
looks good. The playtest was a very good decision. At first I was sceptical, because it seemed like the only gameplay was to choose the order the building are going to be built at. But with the last few changes and the decision to choose what "spezialication" a building gets I looks more promising :)
Hey just discovered your devlog, the game looks amazing and polished! Love it!
I just wanted to make a comment from someone who just saw the Steam page for the first time:
I think the typo used and the Blue text over yellow background is close to the Corona beer branding and could be misinterpreted
Its similar to kingdom 2 crowns but in 3d and I'm excited to see how this game turns out
Thumbs up for the timber hearth wallpaper
Try making the soldiers talk to each other when day time. Like facing each other end speech bubble on top of their heads
this is looking awesome!
Maybe for the music style you go with something like “Synthwave Medieval”? There’s a VR game called Until You Fall with a similar neon color palate and it uses synth wave to match to that.
Ur game is amazing !!! Congrats !!!!
This one looks really fun!
I'm so excited for this game
this looks awesome, cant wait
hurdy gury is the best instrument thank you for using it in the music.
Omg- it’s basically kingdom but 3D lol- love it
Looks cool. Can't wait for it to come out
I like player's cloth simulations. More such details should be added to the world also.
I absolutely love the artstyle
When looking crowd in the city wandering ( 3:53 ), it would be maybe less distracting if walking animation for characters does not include bouncing up and down. Just shooting an idea :) btw, keep the good work!
1:55 Dein weißes Notepad++ hat mich in die Augen gestochen. Den Dark Mode kann ich nur empfehlen!
Customization was definitely my biggest worry after watching the previous devlogs, so I am glad that you ended up adding atleast some ways to make each playthrough less repetitive and give some extra determination into the hands of the player.
One more thing: Looking at the game more I think the artstyle is cute, and the toonshading works well, nonetheless I can't help but dislike the colors. They are too contrasted or too saturated in a way that makes it uncomfortable to look at, especially compared to your previous title with a somewhat similar artstyle in Islanders.
Overall its looking pretty good though.
yay!
Make dynamic soundtrack, so the closer the enemy gets to the town center the more dramatic the music gets. Also you can take into account the weather.
Wow the beginning fooled me fr, I thought it's some legit puppet stop motion animated png of you
1:31 This slaps hard.
This game kinda reminds me of Minecraft legends. Really Love it tho! :D
Very true that game devs commonly underestimate how long things will take!
can't wait to play this
Das sieht doch schon echt gut aus! 😉
(already look good)
Super cool series :)
is it because it slows the compilation process, that you don't use ProBuilder?
I like the level names :)
this seems like a 3d version of the Kingdom series of games which is pretty cool
So you have invented Kingdom Two Crowns in 3d, congratulations :)
For the villagers use some fog system you can simulate a lot of behaviors, panic, social etc...
The game is gonna be so fun!! I wonder if a softer color pallet would feel more warm and cozy. Like pastels colors with soft shadows. The high contrast color pallet feels very moody/intense.
