Even if Edward had attempted to appoint William his successor, and even if Harold had agreed to support William's claim (and there's no evidence that either of these events occurred, outside of Norman propaganda), the kings of Anglo-Saxon England in this era had no legal authority to appoint their own successors. When a king died, a successor would be chosen by the council of elders, the Witenagemot. And upon Edward's death, the Witenagemot chose Harold. William's invasion had no legal justification. (It's as though I were to claim that the u.s. president had appointed me his successor. That's not how it works. It doesn't matter who supposedly swore on how many relics.)
Hello there! Victors always have a version of the story to try and legitimize their invasions. I'm glad to have your explanation. I will pin it to the top of my video comments. Much appreciated 😀. Thanks for watching, and have a great weekend 👍
Very nice place and beautiful scenery. Your travel video is so interesting always. It's a place I really want to go someday. Full view and Big liked. I wish you have a happy time...👍👍

Glad you enjoyed it! Bayeux is a great place to explore Normandy D-Day sights from. I wish I had more time there. Your wonderful comment is well appreciated 😀. Thanks for watching, and hope you enjoyed your visit there 👍
I respect those who keep history! Impressive!Incredible fabrics! How much love and labor has been invested in creating such beauty! Don't stop walking! Great video! Great job! Thank you for sharing! I wish the channel development and good mood!👍👍👍

One of the brightest videos on RUclips! How much labor, time and colors have been invested in this masterpiece! Great video my friend! Have a great vacation! 👍👍👍
Very impressed with the cathedral, lets hope this one does not get burnt down. Really interesting town, shame it was raining but still a very good look at an interesting historic town, great stuff Jim.
Thanks, Steve. Yea, the rain was unfortunate, but we were lucky that was the only real rainy day on our whole driving trip. The historical tapestry and it's story was the main draw for me, and it was a convenient stop along the way. Glad you enjoyed it. I have video of the Paris Notre-Dame before it burnt which I'll post some day. Take care my friend.
Just a quick tip, after going around the tapestry first time we asked if we could go around again and they said fine, it wasn’t busy, we picked up new English audio sets and took it all in again.
Great tip - I remember the tapestries being very busy and took us a long time to make one pass. Your wonderful comment is well appreciated 😀. Thanks for watching, and have a great day 👍
That tapestry was very impressive and the history was interesting. “Quick sand” 😳 I thought that was just in cartoons. Normandy was a Viking descent😯 that’s so interesting 🤔. The town was beautiful and I’d love to tour it myself one day. “We don’t know what this is but we found it quite amusing” haha that’s me at most places 😆. I really enjoyed the video and hope you have a great weekend👍🏻
Hi Jeremy! Glad you liked it. That is one video with a lot of history and took a long time to make. I really liked the tapestry and Mavis really liked the lace display. I really appreciate your comments. You have a great weekend too, my friend 😀👍
Glad you liked it! My wife and I miss France very much and look forward to visiting again some year. Your wonderful comment is well appreciated 😀. Thanks for watching, and have a great day 👍
