This was definitely an interesting video. Here and there I like to learn about odd or unique events of history but I didn't expect to be watching one on a tapestry.
Well done!
Much appreciated, thankyou for watching!
Love that tapestry! When I went to Normandy to visit the D-day beaches I made sure to stop at Bayeux to see the Cathedral and the tapestry there.
Definitely a must see! I'm hoping to head down to Reading and see the copy there
Great video! Nice to see our narrator on screen. I can't hear his voice without thinking, "The man known to history as..." This is a fantastic channel!
Fascinating and as in-depth as possible given the time limit of the video. Bravo! Another outstanding and capturing historical info blitz!
Thanks for watching!
I certainly wish I had seen this Tapestry when I visited France this last spring (2023)! Surely next time!!
Another great video!
Cheers!
Its great piece of art👍I will strongly recommend for everyone interested in history to go see it. Many thanks for nice video
Indeed, very impressive in person!
This was really nice. Didn’t expect to pay full attention to a vid about a tapestry. History just has a way of making things interesting
Thanks for watching!
Went to see a replica copy of the tapestry in Reading last year. Its a lot longer than you would think!
I need to go see it!
@@alexanderdoddy7590 Reading Town Hall. Also has some local history and information about a major Roman town there.
Great video! From one Alex to another ;)
Quality name!
@@alexanderdoddy7590 even alexander in full haha, hope the channel grows man! Great content and narration
@@kluytmansdaboss Cheers!
Excellent, as ever Alex! i am ever so very happy that you are still involved with The People Profiles! i was sad when they started rerecording your episodes !:-)
Much appreciated! Thanks for watching!
I've researched the tapestry for years, this is exciting new info about Sir Lancelot's documents!
seeing as how much textiles have failed to be preserved even from 500 years ago it is amazing that this piece has surved in tact pretty much for this long! Understanding how much human history has been deliberately and accidently destroyed... it is a good lesson.and I think this should be completely secular
it's a misnomer.
Embroidery really. Still, tells a story vividly.
The audio moves you along at a cracking pace and when it ends, you can't rewind. The end of the audio is at the end bit of the cloth and you pop out at the exit.
But the other exhibits in the small museum is good too.
Base yourself in Bayeaux and do tours out to the landing beaches and a day for Mont St Michel.
cheers from Sydney Australia
I just watch history videos for history instead of reading a whole paragraph for history class lol 😂
Is there a date shown on the Bayeux Tapestry?
It's just like real life, but in wool.
When I make a tapestry, I hire a decent artist.
This was 1000 years ago...
Yeah, I think this was a few hundred years before the art of the renaissance period. Even in the 14th century things remained rather grim on the British-Franco art front.
@@RenaissanceMan29 Art and expression were reserved for monks illuminating manuscripts with weird stuff...
@@alexanderdoddy7590 Another very good observation. I do love that stuff. They actually have really technical abilities.
