Eqs, both digital and especially active inductor eqs will ring out at extreme settings if you put signal through that contains content at the band frequency. The only way to know if the reissue is comparable to an old one is to put harmonic test signals through both versions to model the eq curves of the knobs. Something like Waves Q clone would do it. Because 10 treble on an old one may only be like 7 on the new one. A less pronounced gain peak or a wider Q means less ring. So it’s possible either that the eq in the new one is more extreme at higher settings, or it could be less capable than the old one. Aside from that, shooting out any signal processors that are supposed to be the same only by knob position isn’t a valid test anyway, because pots differ too. You have to go by sound.
Good information and agreed, if you were trying to get similar sound to the OG IIC+. My goal is more to be able to dial this to a sound that I like, more similar to what I'm used to with my Mark III+ amps. I appreciate your comment and feedback! Thank you.
I still like the sound. As I try different settings, the oscillation comes back if certain knobs are too high or even pulled. Truthfully, sometimes I want to return it and get a Mark VII and other days I absolutely love it!
@@bryancroad2063 I did inquire with some owners and it has been a mix of some but not all. I friend I was texting with has an HRG and he pushed his settings well passed mine and had several knobs pulled before oscillation started.
@ I’d recommend a Load Box and IRs. I use Two Notes Torpedo X. Cheaper and easier than mic’ing and give you lots of flexibility. Other than that what are your thoughts on new IIC+? My MarkV IIC+ mode sounds pretty good.
@@kilswitchengaged I was looking at a Shure SM57, a focusrite unit (TBD) and using Reaper for PC. Trying to figure out how do I mix/add audio with the video. I'll be using RUclips to learn some more. I like the sound. It really is a 1 trick pony. I have a couple of Mark III+ amps and it sounds very close to my red stripe. I think a Mark V or VII would have been practical.
@@paulazzi1855 You can recorded both audio and video at the same time. I use Studio One 7 which allows you to bring video into the DAW then you can sync the video with the audio.
I used to have a pair of those metal grill cabs, on loaded with black shadows. Its the only piece of gear i regret selling. The tone was fucking enourmous and the mids punched right out
I can hear the tone is here, they just fucked up and the amp squeals at high gain but I'm sure a couple of fixes and it would be as good as the original.
@paulazzi1855 I did and they responded me with a pretty detailed answer but again it's something about tubes again, I can send it in pvt on thegearpage.
@@fedrek01 I actually know and have worked with Kris. Really good guy! I saw the answer. Time will tell if anything changes. Seems for now things will stay as is.
sounds like there is a fuzz pedal on the whole time.
Just guitar to amp to cabinet. No effects or pedals.
@@paulazzi1855sounds like stoner/doom sound until you fast pick and there it's really boomy and bloated sounding. i gotta try one in person.
@@RezaMatix It's his settings, Lead Drive instead of using the volume for drive. The IIC+ has that sound anyways, it's a very fluffy sounding amp.

Nice and thick! What are your thoughts now on the reissue regarding the oscillation you spoke of before. This sounds great.

@paulazzi1855 Thanks, I wonder of the original IiC + did this. I'll see when it's here, have a great day.

awesome x10-oh yea!
Thanks buddy!
You have to mic the amp if you want us to hear how it really sounds... Using a phone mic doesn't cut it
100% agreed! Looking at mics and requirements to get better audio quality. I appreciate the comment and feedback! Thanks!

For some reason your riffs remind me of Megadeth's Next Victim/My Last Words
I may or may not have been influenced by that song. 😃
just listened to JP on his 2c he said his model is 100% 2c+--on this knowledge ok to buy the jp-2c without these un wanted squealings

I hope that Mesa does deliver somewhat of a resolution. Hoping that some of the videos, which there are now more, send a message to Mesa/Gibson.

My mark iii red stripe sounds better
I really LOVE the Mark III red stripe. Here is my III+ red stripe. ruclips.net/user/shortsdA6ut5oaF1A
Cool at least it's not another shitty Metallica riff
😃😃😃
Easy, fella
lmao i was hoping it was metallia
And you probably can't even play the majority of those "shitty" riffs, nor were your parents capable of spelling the name "John" correctly.
Amen to that 🎉 Most dudes just butcher Metallica riffs. So plz stop 😂
