This is probably the most realistic tiny house I've ever seen! It's a large amount of space for one person and not so severely minimalist. She's able to keep a lot of stuff AND have decorative elements that bring her joy. LOVE IT!

I was impressed with the size of the cabinet top space in the lavatory. Her choice of upgrade on the tankless water heater was very interesting. Something to keep in mind for myself in the future. Even though I left a comment .. and the truth is .. for me .. I just can't do tiny house living. If others can, more power to em, big respect. But I just can't. I need space and freedom of movement.

@@bevalee1533 We had a tankless water heater installed in our regular old subdivision house in 2008 and love love love it! It does take some getting used to - takes longer for water to heat, can't take a shower while also washing clothes, etc - but the neverending hot water was huuuuge for our family. The one kid who took hour-long showers didn't doom the rest of the family to lukewarm or downright cold showers .... everyone had HOT water! Total game changer and STILL saved $ on energy costs. We love ours and would recommend it to anyone :-)

This is my favourite tiny house so far. It looks SO spacious, and the layout is so inviting. I would keep the microwave and add a small dishwasher to the kitchen, I love the idea of the drop-down add-on for the countertop. But I love everything else about this place, Jody included. I love her whole vibe.

I tried to get my granite fabricator to salvage the cut out from the counter when I remodeled my 50-year-old kitchen. He just did not get it, so it was lost forever. There are a dozen different ways to add handles that would lift or hinge it out of the way. Stick to your guns and maybe you'll get what you want. No regurts! LOL

I love the colours and overall style of the decor, and finally, a bedroom that is bigger than a coffin. Most bedrooms in tiny houses are terribly claustrophobic. Here I see she sacrificed the ceiling height downstairs so she can have more space upstairs which is great. She's got plenty of space for a tiny house and a normal sofa. There are sofa beds with storage underneath which are still comfy, but many tiny house owners build benches that don't really look comfy or big enough for proper relaxing.

Use black pipe for your safety rail. Extra floor padding under your tree house rug can double as sleeping space. Use a storage bench or cedar chest with casters as a kitty litter box that can double as seating at your flip down table. Just cut a pet size hole for cat to access...the lid lifts for easy cleaning. Getting rid of the sofa would be a mistake. 1. nothing will be as comfortable; Foam does not come close. 2. In the spirit of downsizing, here you are, already planning on how to create more storage to have more stuff.
Honestly there has to be something in your life that is not a compromise at all, whereas comfort is concerned. A very comfortable mattress and a very comfortable place to sit are hands down vital. 1 luxurious thing is more than 10 compromised things.

I had to move my daughter home as she was diagnosed with MS and needs lots of support. I created a self contained unit in my loft for her. One suggestion my builder made which has worked brilliantly is cutting boards that fit directly into the sink and over the hob, increasing counter spice. They slide sideways when the sink/hub are being used and cost very little to make.

I live what history taught me is a pioneer life. That's the point. Material needs are minimal. Store bought is minimal. Like then no banks in my life, no credit cards, not even a debit card. I have a checking account to clear my social security payment thru. In one corner I have a desk top computer to look out at the world and laugh at the insanity. Retired comfortably on 750 a month income. Pioneer lifestyle is cheap.

Once you understand what I call 'functional spirituality' It's based on the fact that 9 tenths of your brain functions in the subconscious. The world has a room service component to it that will manifest the reality you want or don't want depending on how you approach it. I'll consider your request, why should I be the only one living in heaven on Earth. I went from crippled , going blind and homeless to living with no debt on a private island and drive a rare exotic automobile when I leave the place. It looks like heaven to me.

It doesn't need to be DIY at any cost, especially if you have no building skill. I think that the owner is lovely and is able to make her own decision. Sometimes you need to put other people's opinions apart and go for what you really need for your happiness and of course, what you can afford according to your finances. If you still need to pay workers, even a DIY can become very expensive before it's finished.

By far one of my favorite tiny homes!! I *love* the homey touches of real furniture (instead of modular), the Persian rugs, the artwork, and all the colors. For me the second loft would be my closet and dressing area as one little closet would not work! Beautiful home, lovely lady, great and practical tips. Please post a follow up video when the deck and other projects are done.

I agree sheer should keep that sofa, unless she can find one like that with storage under it but must be just as comfortable!! As we get older comfort is key!

I’m living in a 1100 sq foot “mansion” but don’t have a microwave. When we remodeled the kitchen did not include a microwave. I cook all the time and haven’t missed it at all!
Your home is very inviting. Love all the natural light with the wonderful windows. I too would enjoy seeing how your space progresses so hopefully you’ll take others opinions expressed in sharing as you go along.

You may want to check out these designs: timbercrafttinyhomes.com/
I debated with myself for a couple years before choosing to go with an Escape One XL (in this video). The pricing and modern exterior was just better fir for me... but Timbercraft makes some absolutely lovely homes with standing space bedrooms on gooseneck trailers.

I like it that her dishes are SQUARE. I’ve always liked the square shape from a design perspective, but in a tiny house, with space at a premium, the square FITS and utilizes every SQUARE inch of available space. So... what a great choice!
