For those using a good unit of measure, aka meter, we have : Walhart 1.95 m Eliwood 1,78 m Hector 1,90 m Hawheye 1,98-2,04 m Galzus 2,22 m Mareeta 1,58 m Stalh and the random soldier (is it a pleonasm) 1,80 m Deghinsea 2,20 m Gareth 2,21 m Fun-fact: while Dedue is 2,04 m in game is only 1,92 m (6’4”) in the height chart of the artbook.
Before you announced the candidates I thought Surtr since he’s based on a fire giant and has one of the tallest models in FeH but I don’t know if he’d be bigger than 7’3”
Surtr actually has a canon height since the art book contains a height chart. I estimate him at 215cm or roughly 7 feet Though with height lines that is uncertain
I really appreciate the work that went into this video! But I'm afraid to say, you missed a clear candidate - Darros. We know that, after the war, he became sail. Assuming he's the sort of sail to go on a sailboat, he was almost certainly taller than Galzus' 7'3" - I'd put him at a 10' minimum.
For those that use the metric system and have no idea how to measure in feet/inches like me, here are all the heights mentioned in the video converted to meters so, spoiler alert: Stahl: 5'9" = 1m 75cm Walhart: 6'4" = 1m 93cm Dedue: 6'8" = 2m 03cm Roy: 5'3" = 1m 60cm Eliwood: 5'8" = 1m 73cm Hector: 6'3" = 1m 90cm Hawkeye: 6'4"- 6'8" = 1m 93cm - 2m 03cm Mareeta: 5'2" = 1m 57cm Galzus: 7'3" = 2m 21cm!! (No wonder why he won as the tallest) Daein soldier: 5'9" = 1m 75cm Dheginsea: 7'2.42 = 2m 19cm Gareth: 7'2.78 = 2m 20cm Mordecai: 6'8" = 2m 03cm Edelgard (Not mentioned in the video, but appears in the thumbnail): 5'1" = 1m 55 cm
Seeing as how Hector said he was getting shade in a beating desert, I think Hawkeye is way more than just one inch taller than him, probably upwards of his shoulders being above Hector’s head. But either way, I’m not really sure that he can beat 7’ 3’’ though it could definitely be possible seeing his custom battle sprite. Dude is built
First height guesses: Walhart 7'0", Hawkeye 6'8", Galzus 7'3", dheginsea 7'5", gareth 6'5" Edit: yoo I actually got two of them right that's cool, way off on walhart and gareth tho lol
This reminded me of the old game theory episodes. Using official sources and simple maths to deduce something that is mostly irrelevant. But these were the only game theory episodes that I actually enjoyed, mainly because the science was easy enough for the host and the audience to understand.
the question of how Galzus got so tall could simply be genetics, even if the parent isnt tall, they can still carry the gene for taller growth potentially and if both parents do carry that gene and we assume its recessive (meaning that it wont activate if paired with the alternative more dominant trait), then there is a 1/4 chance that they will have a child with only the tall gene and that would make them alot taller than their parents. Its like the real world's own gacha mechanic in a way.
Drago he could just have genetic defection or something. Also mareeta’s mother is probably short meaning mareeta has no chance in even getting remotely close to his height
@@arman_llc624 which is a possibility and also we don't know what Mareeta's mom looks like or even her height, Eyvel is not Mareeta's mom but rather her adopted mother so you can't use her measurements to scale. For all we know her mother could have been taller or even shorter.
Awesome video, another method I used to calculate Walhart's height was his horse. So in the picture where Walhart is marching with his army we see that his horse is somewhat larger than the other horses, and when in combat against the shepherds that they reach around the bottom of the head/upper neck area of the horse which is in line with larger horse breeds today. What we can also gather from the horse is that they can comfortably carry around 20% of their weight. We can also infer that using the calculation from your video that Walhart is around 6'6 or slightly taller and has a massive muscular frame we can compare him to athletes around this height and that he would weigh at least 230-260 lbs. Add his armour which an average full steel armour would be around 50 lbs. So his horse must be able to carry at minimum 280 lbs. If that's around 20% of the horse's weight then the horse weighs at minimum 1400 lbs. I wasn't able to find any European horse breeds around that weight but since they were all relatively the same hand height I've decided to go with the Shire Horse, which can get up to 2000 lbs at about 173 cm average, or about 5'8. If you send in Chrom, who in your picture stands a little shorter than Stahl and Chrom's head is around the area which the top of the horses torso is, we can assume that this horse is also around 175cm - 185cm which if we just pick the middle is 180cm / 5'9 or as you said, Stahl height. I've looked at other horse breeds and most horses that are at least 1400 lbs are around the 16-18 hand height so the horse breed isn't too important. It's kind of important to note though that since we don't have any concrete numbers for Awakening Walhart can be shorter or taller by a few inches. I honestly just found it interesting that I was able to use a completely convoluted and messy way to calculate Walhart's height and came to roughly the same height that you did.
Galzus is definitely the winner, he's a colossal dude. EDIT: I knew he would win, but I didn't expect good 'ol Gort/Gareth to be so close, thought he'd be around 215cm, or just slightly over 7 feet
Now I wonder, who is the biggest dragon/monster in Fire Emblem (not counting Awakening Grima or Anankos, they’d win in a heartbeat, so this would more or less see who’s in third place)
Ymir should be another honorable mention. I'm not sure how you could get an accurate size of him since he's a gaiden chapter character from Shadow Dragon, but in-game he's referred to as a giant. Due to his size, he's mistreated as a monster.
Zelgius? He's shown to be about a head taller than his fellow soldiers, which would put him around 6'7" to 6'9" depending on how tall the one he was next to is. That's pretty massive
This was such a good video to watch lol. These dudes are so tall, it's crazy. Now I want to play around and research the shortest FE characters bc I'm a tiny dude myself and need to know.
Predicted Heights Walhart: 6ft 5 Galzus: 6ft 4 Hawkeye: 7ft Dhegsinea: 7ft 1 Gareth: 7ft 2 Edit: Ok I was pretty dead on with Gareth, somewhat so with Dheginsea and Walhart and completely off with Galzus
Hawkeye - 6'8? Galzuz - 6'4. Probably the shortest. Deghensiea - 7' Gareth - 7'+ Walhart - 6'5 The notable trend is that I'm guessing the characters who are merely human are the shortest. Galzuz being the shortest, Hawkeye and Walhart being similar, and Gareth/Deghensiea towering over both of them. EDIT: Had NO idea Galzuz was such I monster. I assumed he was just a bit taller than average, and that his super high Con was more for gameplay reasons than anything. That's crazy.
One possible explanation for Galzus could be his crazy holy blood from being Shannan’s cousin but, none of the Od blood people are as bulky as him? It’s a mystery (of the emblem).
I did immediately say Hawkeye when the question was posed so seeing him in the top 5 is refreshing. Eager to Edit and see the changes. Edit: Im not sure I agree with the estimate for Hawkeye, I was thinking of the same scene with Hector but thought this would scale him up quite a bit more; In order to believe someone was a random wall of shade
Duma is hard to compare because there is no reference in game or in artwork to which you can compare, similar to Gonzales, but if I had to guess then I would say that he may be as tall as Dheginsea or Gareth, so yeah, he may also be one of the tallest characters in FE
I assume you’re using modern heights to base height averages off of. Which makes sense. Only reason I ask is because if I recall correctly average heights of people back in the past were different than modern average heights (if I recall they were shorter). If FE character heights are based off of average heights of say medieval Europe then they would probably be shorter than what was found in the video. Either way I’m sure this would still end up with the same outcome just shorter heights.
I had the exact same thoughts. But one must consider that the fire emblem world is invented by modern people, that use their conception of height. Take Roy's "cannon" height for example, they gave him a pretty standart height for a modern teenager. So I guess it is fair to use modern heights... Tho Roy might have also been a fairly tall kid. That would tip all the numbers in Hawkeyes favor.
There was an official height chart for FE4 characters in the Jugdral Treasure book. It's nigh impossible to find on the internet now, but based on the positions of the background height lines, (most likely beginning at 150 cm or 4'11, and ending at 200 cm or 6'6") Jugdral characters are all just really tall. Most of the men go above 180cm/5'11". There was a scan from the book with Eyvels height, but I don't have that picture anymore. I do have the page with Seliph and his close allies, though, and he's about 182cm/6 feet tall. Tall for Awakening, but average for Jugdral; Oifey on the same page is 195 cm/6'5". So Chrom is less than 5'9"? I support manlet Chrom.
Murdock from FE Binding Blade is humongous, he is a Human with a Constitution of 20! He should have been on the list, he is perhaps on par or bigger than some of the people included.
@@Jobulejobies In FE Warriors, her dragon form looks like it's around 15 feet tall at least. Idk if you'd consider it canon though because Warriors is a spinoff game.
I feel like heavy armor adds 2 con in the GBA games, based on Amelia's knight promotion while accounting for her natural bulking up. This is supported by Ross gaining 2 con when promoting to Pirate and three when promoting to Fighter, since he would focus more on his bulk to be like Garcia. My point is that Generals compared to Berserkers would have 2 less Con. Light armor adds 1 con, also per Amelia.
Character: Estimates (edited responses to video) ----- Galzus: 5'11 (The explanation for why finding Galzus' height would be hard combined with me believing con was more about muscle than height was a big part of why I underestimated him so much. Ah well.) Walhart: 6'1 (Hahaha. Somewhat close. Guess my interpretation had those 3 inches go somewhere else) Hawkeye: 6'2 (Welp. This was off at best and way off at worst. I had assumed making my estimates that these measurements would be "oh yeah, the top guy is still something humanly achievable" -- which probably doesn't make sense since two of these are Laguz and it's a fictional universe -- but whatever. Funny how far-off I was.) Gareth: 6'4 Dheginsea: 6'6 (These two were hilariously off. This vid was great!)
I dunno. I know you acknowledged it, but I think this method is kinda skewed because of Galzus' freakish artwork. Also it would be kinda unreasonable to assume Mareta would average height considering someone who is clearly huge is her dad. Even if her mom was average height, she'd probably still wind up 80th percentile at least. But you seriously made the best of it! Hot damn i appreciate the work and math that went into this! 😂
The Tellius boys are definitely the biggest. In the RD opening sequence, Zelgius is like a foot taller than the generals, and then there's the Laguz royals, who are probably even bigger.
But for the blazing sword/ binding blade artwork you have think about perspective...like hector would look smaller than he actually is since he is further away...and they are all standing on what appears to be a mountain so it's very approximate
It was a really interesting video and it was very cool to see the how you found out their heights. However it would have bin nice, if you had shown the heights in cm/m too, at least the end results. Besides that I have nothing to complain about and Id like to thank you for the great video.
Wait, Walhart is only 6'4"? He's two inches taller than me? Man, I always assumed that he was closer to eight feet in height. Also, now I'm curious as to how tall the sorcerer guy leading the Grima cult from Awakening is.
"You don't use cm so this whole video is invalid. Go redo it entirely right now". No, seriously, great job! I greatly underestimated Galzus' height. Still, him being bigger than a Dragon Laguz strike me as weird. He really is an absolute unit in every sense of the word, uh?
I gotta say, this video was super impressive. Super big brain stuff, I could never ;-; All of y’all that figure this stuff out, I would give you a bachelors if I could ‘cause y’all friggin’ deserve it lol
Preliminary guess is Galzus. I just remember ghast's thracia art video and the segment about how big galzus is. My guess is 7ft? Edit: nice. Fun video, ghast.
I've played Thracia, but I had no idea Galzus was that big. The name just doesn't "sound" big, like Dedue or Mordecai or Gareth or Hector. Sounds more... sharp and bony.
I am going to guess Naesala. Dodging crossbows at close range is a better reaction feat than doing the same whit arrows, and Naesala has the best evasion in the cast iirc. He is also very fast in travel speed, as he move around a lot during the tellius game whitout warp powder. This obviously assuming people aim dodge light spells because otherwise even Marty is FTL, wich is absurd.
@@noukan42 Hot take. Dodging light/lightning is very rarely FTL, and is unduly wanked in powerscaling. You aren't dodging light/ning, you're dodging a person firing it at you. You dodge them, not their projectile. You aren't dodging the light/ning as it is in transit, you are dodging the mage casting the spell. All you have to dodge is their expectation of where you will be when they cast the spell, not react to the spell after it has been cast. If the mage themselves can prepare, cast, and resolve the spell at lightspeed, or themselves have the ability to process at lightspeed and redirect the spell as it is in transit, then sure. But just from the animations, you can see that this isn't the case. Once the mage starts throwing up their hands to cast the spell, or what have you, you just have to not be where they think you'll be. This in itself is overlooking that the animations themselves are an abstraction, and a "miss" doesn't necessarily mean that the opponent dodged, but could also mean that the attacker outright missed without any effort on the part of the defender, or miscast the spell, or tripped on a small rut on the floor instead of attacking, or struck an unfortunate bird or offspring thrown by a hurling squirrel that unknowingly intercepted the attack, and so on.
@@aprinnyonbreak1290 this is what i said by "assuming they aim dodge". Aim dodging is the only way people dodge bullets in real life, by moving accordingly to the gun position before it fire. I just was not clear about it, sorry.
@@noukan42 Ah. I just wasn't aware of that terminology. Thank you for clarifying, it's more my fault for not knowing that process has a name, that you used.

Nemesis from Fire emblem three houses is 6'7, and in the two cutscenes where he battles Seiros then Claude and Byleth, he towers over all of them
For those using a good unit of measure, aka meter, we have :
Walhart 1.95 m
Eliwood 1,78 m
Hector 1,90 m
Hawheye 1,98-2,04 m
Galzus 2,22 m
Mareeta 1,58 m
Stalh and the random soldier (is it a pleonasm) 1,80 m
Deghinsea 2,20 m
Gareth 2,21 m
Fun-fact: while Dedue is 2,04 m in game is only 1,92 m (6’4”) in the height chart of the artbook.
Thank you, my saviour.
I'd just like to say that for the record Andre the Giant was 7'4" and Galzus has a good chance of being even taller than that 7'3" estimate
I'm gonna guess Walhart is 6'5''
Guess he was 6'4'' 1 inch off let's go
Spoilers:
*Damn Galzus can grab a man by the head and call it “capturing” what an absolute unit*
“GhAsT dUmB iT’s ObViOuSlY gRiMa”
This was really neat to see and actually very interesting to watch. Thank you for the wonderful content!
Before you announced the candidates I thought Surtr since he’s based on a fire giant and has one of the tallest models in FeH but I don’t know if he’d be bigger than 7’3”
Surtr actually has a canon height since the art book contains a height chart. I estimate him at 215cm or roughly 7 feet
Though with height lines that is uncertain
I would also like to give an honourable mention to Hel for being 205cm, slightly taller than Dedue
"70 inches = 5'8"
other than that pretty solid
70 inches is 5'10"
@@gratedshtick He was pointing out that ghast made a mistake
Im glad someone else caught that
@@gratedshtick Yeah.
60” is 5 feet, and then the other 10” would be 5’ 10”
Everyone knows the biggest FE character is LeBram James and his rival, JR Smith
I really appreciate the work that went into this video! But I'm afraid to say, you missed a clear candidate - Darros. We know that, after the war, he became sail. Assuming he's the sort of sail to go on a sailboat, he was almost certainly taller than Galzus' 7'3" - I'd put him at a 10' minimum.
For those that use the metric system and have no idea how to measure in feet/inches like me, here are all the heights mentioned in the video converted to meters so, spoiler alert:
Stahl: 5'9" = 1m 75cm
Walhart: 6'4" = 1m 93cm
Dedue: 6'8" = 2m 03cm
Roy: 5'3" = 1m 60cm
Eliwood: 5'8" = 1m 73cm
Hector: 6'3" = 1m 90cm
Hawkeye: 6'4"- 6'8" = 1m 93cm - 2m 03cm
Mareeta: 5'2" = 1m 57cm
Galzus: 7'3" = 2m 21cm!! (No wonder why he won as the tallest)
Daein soldier: 5'9" = 1m 75cm
Dheginsea: 7'2.42 = 2m 19cm
Gareth: 7'2.78 = 2m 20cm
Mordecai: 6'8" = 2m 03cm
Edelgard (Not mentioned in the video, but appears in the thumbnail): 5'1" = 1m 55 cm
First height guesses:
Walhart 7'0", Hawkeye 6'8", Galzus 7'3", dheginsea 7'5", gareth 6'5"
Edit: yoo I actually got two of them right that's cool, way off on walhart and gareth tho lol
This reminded me of the old game theory episodes. Using official sources and simple maths to deduce something that is mostly irrelevant. But these were the only game theory episodes that I actually enjoyed, mainly because the science was easy enough for the host and the audience to understand.
I never thought about Galzus being that tall. Great video and shout out the Dallas Mavs.
the question of how Galzus got so tall could simply be genetics, even if the parent isnt tall, they can still carry the gene for taller growth potentially and if both parents do carry that gene and we assume its recessive (meaning that it wont activate if paired with the alternative more dominant trait), then there is a 1/4 chance that they will have a child with only the tall gene and that would make them alot taller than their parents. Its like the real world's own gacha mechanic in a way.
While holy blood doesn't seem to affect height, he does have at least minor Od blood, and he's from Isaac, a warrior nation
Real genes don't work like the convenient squares from your highschool biology class
@@solidoxygen7873 those *squares* aren't exclusive to high school classes you know
Drago he could just have genetic defection or something.
I’m just surprised that Mareeta didn’t get her dad’s genetics for height
Belairof Bigken well her dad might just be tall cause of some genetic defection or something
@@arman_llc624 then it would a recessive gene causing it? It would have been impossible for Mareeta to be tall. That's a shame
ᏙᏆᏢᎬᎡ I like how mareeta is tbh. She and nanna are my favourite female characters from fe 5. Maybe I would include misha in there aswell
@@bagelwithcreamcheese Well, both Gigantism and Elephantism are recessive, so that's likely. Granted, Galzus doesn't look all that malformed anyway.
@@catriamflockentanz I Think it’s honestly just genetics skipping generations.
I estimate that Hawkeye is 6'7"
Edit: Close enough. 6'4" - 6'8"
My guess is Galzus because he looks like a giant in the official art
Edit: hell yeah
Commenting for the algorithm. Great vid.
Wow now I need a video of who is the SMALLEST character
You missed General Murdoch with his con of 20. Although there isn't much artwork to base him off of
As well as fe6 hector in the trial maps
I'm really liking all of these niche fire emblem videos you're doing keep up the good work excited to see your next video
Zelgius? He's shown to be about a head taller than his fellow soldiers, which would put him around 6'7" to 6'9" depending on how tall the one he was next to is. That's pretty massive
He was my first guess too. I think Tibarn was actually a little taller than him though
This was such a good video to watch lol. These dudes are so tall, it's crazy. Now I want to play around and research the shortest FE characters bc I'm a tiny dude myself and need to know.
Predicted Heights
Walhart: 6ft 5
Galzus: 6ft 4
Hawkeye: 7ft
Dhegsinea: 7ft 1
Gareth: 7ft 2
Edit: Ok I was pretty dead on with Gareth, somewhat so with Dheginsea and Walhart and completely off with Galzus
These are my favorite types of videos. Over-analytical silly investigations. Keep up the good work.
As a fan of heavies/beeg units in general, instantly loved this video lmao
Hawkeye - 6'8?
Galzuz - 6'4. Probably the shortest.
Deghensiea - 7'
Gareth - 7'+
Walhart - 6'5
The notable trend is that I'm guessing the characters who are merely human are the shortest.
At the begining I was thinking Duma
Duma is hard to compare because there is no reference in game or in artwork to which you can compare, similar to Gonzales, but if I had to guess then I would say that he may be as tall as Dheginsea or Gareth, so yeah, he may also be one of the tallest characters in FE
@@carlosmendoza1177 Duma is in Fire Emblem Heroes and he's rather tall.
List off the biggest Fire Emblem Character you can think of:
Rhea. She takes up 9 tiles. That’s nine times as beeg as the others

6 feet tall for Galzus. 6'7 for Walhart and Hawkeye. And then 7 feet for the Dragons.
Oh god. I was so off!
Did you ever consider Surtr? His sprite is significantly larger than many heroes in FEH, including Dheginsea
Let’s just pretend the ocs don’t exist, as it should be.
We he is based off the nordic fire giant. Tho I wonder how big the other fire emblem dude named after a nordic giant, Ymir.
Yeah, Now we have a Sigurd and Leif 3D model for Engage. Sigurd towers above most characters there
Oh my word, I forgot to mention that there is a special anniversary art piece with the some of the protagonists on it on twitter
Murdock from FE Binding Blade is humongous, he is a Human with a Constitution of 20! He should have been on the list, he is perhaps on par or bigger than some of the people included.
In awe at the size of these lads. Absolute *literal* units.
I'm honestly kinda surprised Galzus edged the dragon laguz out, I was pretty confident they would win
Drake Silas Galzus is a massive boi

How tall is Tiki in her dragon form?
Tall
Kinda depends on the game, in fe1 and 3 tikis dragon form looks huge, while in the remakes she isn’t too much larger than like a wyvern or general
Deghinsea's dragon form would be bigger, although characters like Grima would be even larger
@@Jobulejobies In FE Warriors, her dragon form looks like it's around 15 feet tall at least. Idk if you'd consider it canon though because Warriors is a spinoff game.
Michael Shan Pretty sure, we’re strictly talking about humans and human forms
Can’t wait to find out who is the shortest (adult/human) characters because myrrh and tiki may sway it lower but would still be fun to find out
I feel like heavy armor adds 2 con in the GBA games, based on Amelia's knight promotion while accounting for her natural bulking up.
This is supported by Ross gaining 2 con when promoting to Pirate and three when promoting to Fighter, since he would focus more on his bulk to be like Garcia.
My point is that Generals compared to Berserkers would have 2 less Con.
Light armor adds 1 con, also per Amelia.
Character: Estimates (edited responses to video)
-----
Galzus: 5'11 (The explanation for why finding Galzus' height would be hard combined with me believing con was more about muscle than height was a big part of why I underestimated him so much. Ah well.)
Walhart: 6'1 (Hahaha. Somewhat close. Guess my interpretation had those 3 inches go somewhere else)
Hawkeye: 6'2 (Welp. This was off at best and way off at worst. I had assumed making my estimates that these measurements would be "oh yeah, the top guy is still something humanly achievable" -- which probably doesn't make sense since two of these are Laguz and it's a fictional universe -- but whatever. Funny how far-off I was.)
Gareth: 6'4
Dheginsea: 6'6 (These two were hilariously off.
My first thought was Xander lol. Lissa called him the tallest person she’d ever seen in Warriors
My favorite takeaway from the video is Roy's height.
Now, Galzus is even more scary to run from.
But for the blazing sword/ binding blade artwork you have think about perspective...like hector would look smaller than he actually is since he is further away...and they are all standing on what appears to be a mountain so it's very approximate
This types of video are a bit unexpected, but happily welcome
I'm so amazed by your math skills
I see an 18 minute vid with Gareth's silhouette in the thumbail alright let's get into this
No Big Boy Murdock?
It was a really interesting video and it was very cool to see the how you found out their heights.
However it would have bin nice, if you had shown the heights in cm/m too, at least the end results. Besides that I have nothing to complain about and Id like to thank you for the great video.
Gareth's extra 1px height on Dighensea comes from that hair
2:21- Fire Emblem Big Boy Season...imagine if these guys teamed up.
Dheginsea was my first guess. Glad to see I was pretty close
That... was one of the best RUclips videos I’ve ever watched.
If I was a soldier in the Thracian Liberation force force (i’m 6’3) and I saw Galzus running at me I’d shit my pants

Edit: nice. Fun video, ghast.
I've played Thracia, but I had no idea Galzus was that big. The name just doesn't "sound" big, like Dedue or Mordecai or Gareth or Hector. Sounds more... sharp and bony.

My first guess was lady Rhea in her dragon form when I saw the title
You forgot to add in Walhart's feet, which are absent from his in game model in Awakening
Can you do one for who is the fastest character in fire emblem
I am going to guess Naesala.
Dodging crossbows at close range is a better reaction feat than doing the same whit arrows, and Naesala has the best evasion in the cast iirc. He is also very fast in travel speed, as he move around a lot during the tellius game whitout warp powder.
This obviously assuming people aim dodge light spells because otherwise even Marty is FTL, wich is absurd.
RaymonZX200 probably Lewin, with his capped speed and forsetti, since in fe 4 holy weapons pretty much give god like powers
@@noukan42
Hot take.
