    In this video I compare DBFZ and DBSZ super moves.
    Surprisingly, some DBFZ Super Moves look better, but DBSZ wins overall.
    Both games are truly visual masterpieces and a treat to watch.

    It’s really not a fair fight to me, because FighterZ has such control over the models and camera angle when animating, they can make it so that every attack looks perfect at all times, physically distorting the characters for some shots to make the actions as clear and impactful as possible. Sparking Zero has a lot of sometimes goofy looking frames that aren’t on screen for long but I notice them way too often, Sparking zero definitely isn’t done poorly, but it can’t compete with ArcSys in terms of animation.

      @@Codyslx id say the main problem is probably how high quality the models need to be, Sparking Zero has A LOT of characters and it’s a lot harder to justify giving all of them high quality models that are capable of being warped and animated in such detail when you can only get full use of it with the moves that take control of the camera. Higher quality models would’ve improved ALL the animations but for the sake of artstyle consistency you would have to give everyone good models and that’s already a tall order even before any of the DLC.

    Some problems I have with SZ,
    SFX is mixed really quietly compared to other sounds for some reason, even when you turn up SFX to 100 in-game. Good example is Tien's Neo Tri-Beam, SZ you can't there's like no SFX for when he fires them. Even in Raging Blast 1/2 and BT3 you could clearly hear the firing sound of each Tri-Beam.
    Compared to FighterZ, SZ's supers sometimes have too much slow motion, and hits and explosions lack impact due to no camera shake. Example, see Yamcha's Wolf Fang Fist. SZ's version is slower hits, random slow motion at the end, and no camera shake at all creates a lack of impact to any of the hits.
    Also, why are the beams in SZ so thin? Look at Final Flash. I feel like that would be an easy fix.

      So the beam head is actually fairly large.
      The stem is pathetically thin although funnily enough they are taking inspiration from the source material itself( beams aren't always huge in the shows)
      An easy fix is to just increase the overall size of the beam "root". This is the fastest way to give players that illusion that the beams are huge.
      For now the dragon ball game with the coolest looking beams goes to DB Kakarot

    A lot of people are acting as if SZ can't do the same stuff as FighterZ, but both are 3D and both use camera angles that take away your control in a similar way. They could achieve the exact same things if they wanted to, but a lot of the characters in fighterz were also dlc, from a developer that is already a masterclass in 2D fighting games. Expecting the same kind of expertise would be a bit unfair, while it also must've taken a lot of effort to get down the anime look in a fully 3D environment compared to a game that often returns to one select camera angle.
    So just acting like SZ cannot achieve what FighterZ did isn't exactly true, but they did not have the same starting point nor the same timeframe. Plus, I presume they didn't just want to copy fighterZ blatantly, no matter how perfect it nails the anime look, and there's merit in wanting to deliver their own take on how to animate it. I prefer FighterZ personally, but I appreciate SZ does its own thing.

    After making it about a quarter of the way through the whole video, everything ive seen so far leads me to go Fighterz. Visually, sparking had more tools to work with and you can definitely see it. Its so clean and i love everything about it. Tenkaichi is back. What it lacks is soul. That umpf. That feeling of speed and power with certain moves. The cinematics. That increase in decibels. The backgrounds.
    Theres a lot that fighterz did right. Fighterz doesn't just randomly place rocks to fill out a stage. Yhats a complete recreation of the saiyan saga battlefield between goku and vegeta, and the plains that les up to the canyon. Everything is carefully crafted with intent. It captures the anime so much closer than sparking. This doesnt deter me from sparking, but i definitely cant grade sparking the same as fighterz.
    In so many words, sparking looks like the anime, but fightsrz looks and feelz like the anime. To be fair, sparking is coming out of the gate with over 100 characters, continuing its tradition of larger roster than before. Sure it will cost more than before due to micros, but ill happily pay it. Tenkaichi was my childhood and its one of yhe few games that captured my attention for 100s of hours between me and my friends. No online, just friends and a good time. What many don't get is that it's intentional.
    DBFZ went after the aesthetics of peak-DBZ movies, while Sparking Zero went after Shintani's DBS Broly. Wobbly, unpolished linework, small beams... We've seen this already in DBS Broly.
    The debate about FZ and SZ proves how divisive Shintani's work was, wich resonated strongly among the fans only because around that time DBS fans were desperate for a graphical update.

    • @Codyslx
      @Codyslx День назад +2

      Guess it's just an issue of SZ not doing a very good job at sticking to shintani's style. Look at gogeta's hair volume for example. It's way too much compared to the movie, fighterZ does a much better job at adapting that aspect. Same for vegito.

    Sparking Zero can't compete with FighterZ. Because FighterZ has static camera angles for being a 2 fighter. So arch system took advantage of that to create a pipeline were they have artist manually going in frame by frame and correcting the mistakes the engine algorithm made in the anime like shading. They also can draw 2 VFX, actions lines, etc that fit nicely with the scene without looking flat or with weird perspective. This is why if you take a screenshot at any moment of FighterZ it looks like a 2D hand drawing like the anime.
    Sparking Zero being a fully 3D game with random camera angle controller by the player can't really do that. They do a little in the fixed camera angle of the super moves, finishers and cutscenes to add flavor, but they didn't do the extent FighterZ does to maintain consistency of presentation (it would be jarring if the cutscene moves are anime like and the game is more game like). The only way I can see they do something better in 3D is sometime in the future when AI is good and fast enough with widespread hardware support on consoles and PC, they use AI to clean up every frame. Until them this is the best we will have in a 3D fighter.
    They could do only tweaks. Like when ki or beam charging close to the ground the particles effect pass directly through the ground. It would be great if there was a Shockwave of particles hitting the ground and dissipating outward, signaling the ki pushing the wind against the ground. I think the older Tenkaichi even hard that. Also it would be great if it was possible to spawn crates when a beam hit the ground.

  • @warlocke1894
    @warlocke1894 13 часов назад

    The thing with SZ's animation is that most of it are good but lacking in camera shake, antic, and body distortion that can elevate the impact further. Example are the Big Spirit Bomb-like attacks, most of them could be improved if the animation in throwing them had more antic and if the attack was a lot more slower selling the fact that its a big heavy ball of energy. It's one of my biggest nitpicks from the BT/Sparking series. It's the price for 180+ characters I guess. I wish they update them in the future but I think were stuck with it.

    ArcSys put so much love into FighterZ. If you don't know how they animate, they basically take 3D models and adjust it frame by frame as if it was a 2D animation, using smears etc. It's tedious work but just shows how much love and hard work they out into making a faithful DB game.
    There are also a lot of unique animations that aren't 1 to 1 from the anime, like SSGSS Goku's Dramatic finish with Kefla - with him dodging the initial beams + sliding under one. And this isn't to mention the countless other unique voicelines and interactions with characters everywhere (so many videos of them + hidden ones).
    Tldr; DBFZ is imo, a beautiful game that still holds up 6 years later visually and imo way better than SZ. And just saying, $10 cheaper on initial release :Caught:

    FighterZ is manga/anime accurate. I mean the character models matches the anime character models. I mean almost every character looks thinner than how they look in the anime. I mean look at Goku’s ultimate in the 1st few seconds he looks soo thin in SZ. In fighterZ Goku arm’s are wide like someone that trains almost every day. Kefla looks 100% better in fighterZ I mean she actually haves muscles while in SZ her arms looks like twigs. Spike did a bad job on a lot of their characters. I mean ssg goku and vegeta doesn’t even get thin like how they are supposed to be when going ssg. Crowbcat needs to do a soul and soulless video about SZ. Imo SZ is soulless. It’s a cash grab the single player content is just barebones. In bt3 I remember u can find dragonballs in mountains and buildings but in SZ u randomly get one from winning a single player match. Plus the story mode is straight up ASS compared to bt2-3.

But nope I have to scroll through a bunch of goku’s and vegeta’s to get to the dbs characters or the villains. Character selection is messy. Plus removing characters from ur team is dumb instead of letting u press O u have to click the remove button on each character that u wanna remove from ur team it’s kind of annoying.
