People are so quick to assume that the 80s look shows that France didn't follow the common 80s fashion of huge hair and bright colours, but you don't realize that this video shows just one selected look, not the most common one! 80s looks were similar in most developed countries because of globalization of fashion, and France was no exception. Of course in every country there were some who didn't follow the most popular fashion, just like now people have their own styles and do their makeup differently.
Jessica062 I've seen lots of French women in the comments below, women who lived through the 80s, saying that this look doesn't accurately represent the 80s in France. As I said, there were neutral looks too, but it doesn't mean the global 80s fashion wasn't also popular in France
YES!!!! I have been asking and waiting for them to do Yugo. The past 100 yrs in that region has been intense and it would be interesting to see how they would film each decade. And from personal experience I feel like most Americans don't know anything about the countries from former Yugo, so it would be a good educational video =]

Yes and no. There was certainly a few bad looks in the 80s, but there were many timeless trends in France during that decade as well. That 80s particular look in the video reminded me of Marie Sophie Wilson for Peter Lindbergh. In the early 80s, many French women did the traditional french braid but they also side parted their hair and feathered it (google: "Béatrice Dalle 80s"). French women mostly kept their hair in a natural state for day wear in the 80s (also google: "Anne Parillaud 80s", "Carole Bouquet 80s" or "Sophie Marceau 80s"). Evening was certainly more polished, in a chignon or just well curled and styled (a perfect example I could think of was Fanny Ardant in the 80s). There was of course "status" hair; that's what it was called in the trade (Dynasty hair, brushed away from the face into a huge static like hair--very popular amongst socialites) . Nonetheless, many of the women I mentioned had timeless looks which still work today. Remember, a lot of the 80s was a reflection or tribute to the 30s, and 40s styles from hair, makeup, fashion, and even home decor. (Sorry for telling you to google image things. It's 2018, and RUclips should allow their users to upload photos on the comment section already!)

I think the 1980s look was based off model Estelle Lefébure. She was very big in the late 80s/early 90s modelling scene
florance333 80's in French is up neutral
Jessica062 I've seen lots of French women in the comments below, women who lived through the 80s, saying that this look doesn't accurately represent the 80s in France. As I said, there were neutral looks too, but it doesn't mean the global 80s fashion wasn't also popular in France
0:38 No wonder why so many soldiers choose to stay in Europe after the liberation of France.
blau Mond thanks

YES!!!! I have been asking and waiting for them to do Yugo. The past 100 yrs in that region has been intense and it would be interesting to see how they would film each decade. And from personal experience I feel like most Americans don't know anything about the countries from former Yugo, so it would be a good educational video =]
YES YES YES!!! this would be such an interesting video
MeU!!
YUGO YUGO!!!
Best '80s look I have seen so far.
ASB I love the Philippines one.
ASB fasion term, the Philippines has the best because it still has the flaire, funk and groove that represents the 80s but in a beautiful and non ugly way. in my opinion
ASB I see a lot of pictures of 80's and it was more like Jackson 5 hair cup with Nikki Minaj make up... (I'm French)
I have no idea why the hell I'm so obsessed with this amazing video...all the stages from 1920s to 1980s was just flawless....well done the team of 100 YOB💯❤😍
Wow they survived the 80's
bridget u should check out Hawaii's 80's.
Goddamn 1945 is fucking beautiful, funny how one style just looks horrible, and another makes the individual look unbelievable.
