the 80s hit Ireland HARD lmao
God praise the end of the 80's
I don't think any country escaped the 80's unscathed. Sheesh..
+Marie Ebersole except for maybe Italy
I like the 80s look more than the 2010s look
Yep 😂
1980s to barbers : Fuck my shit up,mate!
Zombie Nik Tesla.
It's because in the 1980s rock was big and drugs were big..coming from a 12 year old..that's alot😂😂
"say no more fam"
no worrys fam!
I think its so interesting how in the 80's most of the world concluded it was about having big/super curly/frizzy hair and in the 2000's everyone wanted super straight hair
question: why did giant hats go out of style....I really want to bring them back
Style is what you make it Whitney.
Leonardo Da Vinci thank you for this advice. But I feel if I wear a giant hat people would stare and be like WTF?!
Whitney Dahlin Lmao, and that's what the fashion industry calls 'A Fashion Statement'.
They're known as picture hats, and they were most prevalent during the Edwardian era.
Of course only the aristocrats sported them best. I can't imagine the contemporary everyday proletariat wearing this casually. XD
Whitney Dahlin they were a huge fashion back then but not now thanks to the 60's
For anyone wondering why the gun and the somber appearance, there used to be this period called "the troubles" around 60s-80s where Catholics and Protestants fought with each other, Catholics wanted NI to be part of Ireland and Protestants wanted it to be part of the UK, in a nutshell.
It was Unionists and Nationalists not just Catholics and Protestants
The North were just violent and brutal so they ended up ruining themselves, the women's style in the 40's in this video is different as well because they had to go to war because they were a part of Britain (ew)
+Will Murphy yep very true
It was because the British came over and invaded Ireland, this happened before 1940's, and obviously the Irish weren't going to let the British murder innocent people in there own land, so that's how the Troubles began
to be honest though the relationship between the north and south is still pretty bad , like on the glorious 12th there was a house had it windows put in and their cars burnt out bc apparently one of their sons and a group of his friends lit the bonfire a week before and we weren't able to remake it in time
She's gorgeous 😍
Emily Grant
Emily Grant and very funny!
ceren b. Yes! That’s what I was thinking while watching this lol
What’s her name !!?
Fr Surid Stephanie Koenig, she has her own channel but appears mostly on her friends' channels (Brian Jordan Alvarez, Micheal Henry)
Omg I just realized this is Steph from Brian Alvarez’s videos!
Same!
una oh alright, I was just about to ask if that was Ms. Stephanie Koenig
I just thought she looked an awful lot like her lol
I KNEW I recognised her from somewhere!!
it's Chardelain!!
The model has such Irish features too, not just because of the red hair and freckles but the bone structure and eyes wow
I'm pretty sure she's american, though there are a lot of ethnic Irish Americans roaming around.
@@laura6954
She’s American. Her name is Stephanie Koenig
The red is likely dye, if you look at the roots and lashes.
it'd be fun to see all the 80's put together...
yes
That is an awesome idea...!! 😇😇😇😀😀😀☺☺☺
+ashera-b I think so
+ashera-b you inspired me to do this: 40.media.tumblr.com/19857b922969e20b32736216c58095bd/tumblr_o49iwa2bJQ1r6fni7o1_1280.jpg :)
ti m haha great!
80's: well that escalated quickly
Haha very funny
There... there was an entire rifle in the previous decade
Yeah cocaine and disco. 80s was definitely a wild era. Most countries in Asia though, like India and japan survived the 1980s though.
@@themitochondriaisthepowerh4834 Disco? Pffft disco is dead in 80's. 80's was punk and rock era
as someone from a rural town in southern ireland i want to point out that this fashion was definitely for the rich and well-connected folk back then!! my great grandmother would have had shawls and a single farmers hat because money was tight and most of ireland was incredibly rural back then.
1910's though *-*
1910s looked really cute 😊
1980s was clearly a crazy time in the world.
but the 40's and 50's were great for everyone
+Anais Harris not blacks
except Japan
Jaleed Sultan and italy
anais COUGH COUGH WORLD WAR 2
as a northern irish person i can safely confirm that guns were part of the mainstream fashion in the 70's
oh no
And as someone from the republic so can I
P O'Haidhmaill
Lol you sell our nation to the British, then sell us out to the rest of the world.
An Irish ethnic representative Ireland is just too much to to ask I guess.
@Think TWICE because humans are stupid that all ethnicities have in common
@Reicher Reinhardt Von kesselring 1. Ireland is hilariously underpopulated .
2. Their sectarian divides are theirs to sort out, not yours. They're not going to love each other just because they're white. Brainlet.
Do some people seriously not know that Ireland is split? Like even if you don't know the history, it would be fine if you just knew they are separate. The fuck do they teach you in geography and history.
maybe national geography and history. I mean, here in India, upto ninth grade Geography and History had two sections: World and Indian. In 10th grade, when we are supposed to give the first national compulsory board examination, out Geography was completely based on India. History had the world wars, cold war, non aligned movements and the UN formation. Ireland was lost, completely. There's too much to know about your own country that they forget basic knowledge about other countries.
I didn't know, sorry about that. Same case as Monomit Sarker. I'm going to search more about Ireland.
PS: Don't be rude, not everyone knows some things :)
Louise Greig Well what the hell do you know about the battle of little big horn? Or the Louisiana Purchase? Or the Mexican American war?
Unassigned not exactly the same tho is it
American school systems spend most of their time teaching American history, Ive only had lessons in American history, geography of America, Government, and Economics so far and I’m in 9th grade, my friend is taking an AP class however that is about human geography but most students aren’t able to take those classes based on the homework load, she has up to seven hours of homework every night in just that class. Otherwise the only reason I knew that Ireland was split is because my grandma is from Ireland and likes to tell me about it.
There's NI, ROI, but they forgot DA PEEPLE'S REPUBLIC AF CARK
I can hear that comment
Both my parents are from cork and I'm gonna be honest, I almost pissed on myself laughing reading this because I heard the accent so hard 😂😂😂😂
Im from Cork, That's no exaggeration
And then there's Soviet Limerick.
im from cork and just died
For those who want to understand the reasons why there even is a "Northern Ireland" well, It's a bit complicated and it involves going into A LOT of history that is related to not only culture but also religion so I will try to give the answer in bullet points.
- The English did everything in their power to invade Ireland since 1169 and eventually did conquer it by 1601.
- England was a very Catholic country just like Ireland until the late 1500's when England changed their national religion to Protestant and in doing so also wanted the likes of Scotland, Wales and Ireland to do the same but naturally the Irish resisted against changing their religion.
- In 1601 95% of the land in Ireland was owned by Catholic landlords and England wanted to transfer the land over to Protestants only so what they did was they sent thousands and thousands of Protestants from England and Scotland to move over to Ireland so they can be the new land owners and after 150 years of planting Protestants in Ireland 95% of the land owners were now Protestant.
- Without going into too much detail this meant that the majority of the country like 90% being Irish, Catholic will suffer. The landowners will make sure that they get treated poorly, given lack of food and poor education because they choose not to convert to Protestant.
-Ok, to speed things up from 1600's to 1916, there was lots of wars, lots of death, rebellions, uprising etc England sending armies over to try and stop all of it but England realised that this has been going on for hundreds and hundreds of years, the Irish don't want to be ruled by us, they are never going to stop and the last big up rising was in 1916 which the Irish lost but it was also a victory because it lead to helping England give up on Ireland and finally give it back to the Irish in 1921! Ok, so yes all of Ireland is now free! No longer under British rule, no longer ruled by England!
Here is the answer to how Northern Ireland gets created.
- But, they forgot, they planted THOUSANDS! of British, Protestants in Ireland, almost 10 percent of the country's population, most of them the majority living in the north of the country. They were angry at England because they felt betrayed, abandoned so then England decided to create "Northern Ireland" so that these British, Protestants can have their own government but still 30% of the people living in this new country called Northern Ireland were Irish, Catholic so naturally the old ways were to continue, treat them as 2nd class people, give them poor education, don't give them voting rights or allow them to have a voice! This went on in the 1930's, 1940's 1950,s but in the 1960's the Irish living in the north decided to protest for equal rights, which lead to events such as Bloody Sunday were the British army murdered innocent protesters and then war was declared. It was no longer about religion it was Irish vs British. Eventually by 1998 there was peace and they now share power in government. The reason why it was such a big conflict "the troubles" is because the north of Ireland's population was 1 million and almost 4,000 people died, 100,000 injured so you would have to try to imagine a war going on in the USA and 3-4 million out of their 300 million population die from gun shots, bomb attacks etc.
Today, Northern Ireland is 50% Irish, Catholic and 50% British, Protestant, in 20 years from now Irish, Catholics will be at least 60% and they will look to re-unite the north with the republic to create a United Ireland.
Thank you so much for this I was actually curious about it so I'm glad u explained it to me :)
+Aisling Kennelly why refer to the English as "Brits?" Isnt Ireland part of Britain?
thanks. i can't geography very well. I can english petty good though.
Very interesting, thank you!
Neither Northern Ireland nor Ireland were part of Britain. Britain is the name of the island which makes up most of England, Scotland, and Wales. Ireland is both the country but also the island, which includes both the republic and Northern Ireland. That is why UK Passports say "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It's confusing because Britain is used interchangeably for UK, but they're not the same thing. It also doesn't help that people in the North are British citizens (and mostly Irish ones too), but it is key to know that it is not part of Britain and never was.
Oh dear god, the 80's hit these people harder than anyone else we've seen so far
+grinc333 East Germany.
+grinc333 the Northern ireland is influenced more by the punk rock culture from England since NI is part of England
+Dawn ONeil-Szabo Part of the UK.
i mean you got to channel all the british bullshit somehow
This made me so happy. You barely see a good representation of Ireland nowadays
The walk down memory lane seeing the 80's "big hair" made me LOL.
irish woman are so pretty
Rainbow Llama a lot of Irish people aren't all that pretty. With our Irish sweets, a lot of people have black teeth and some people don't make an effort to be attractive
Rainbow Llama I'm from Northern Ireland and thats definitely not true lol only good looking ones here are the foreigners (polish etc) haha
I don't think it really depends on where you come from but what you make of yourself. There are beautiful people in every country an those who could be..
Lmao no I'm an ugly Irish bitch 😂
Rainbow Llama Hahahaha oh no they're not
The 90's usually end up being my favorite decade for these as well as the 60's.
same
+Rad Penny yeah the 90s are my fav. I'm glad some trends from the 90s are coming back.
+may fl0wers I really like how expressive they were in the 90's. You could feel the power behind the style.
+may fl0wers they're coming back in the UK as well its so good LONG LIVE THE 90s!!!!!
+Rad Penny The 90s are back! Dark lips, half-up hairdos, chokers, crop tops, high waists, plaid, etc. have all been in fashion lately.
the irish 80's is me in the morning
50's Republic of Ireland dress be like: *Air hostess intensifies*
How do people not know there's two Ireland's? I don't expect anybody to know everything about my country or the North, but it's not like this information is hard to come by.
There is not two Ireland's part or Ireland is owned by the uk but it's all the same land so there is one Ireland but part of it we don't own that's t
Anna Simpson Case in point.
i didn't know that til now lol
Can't speak for the rest of the world, but American public education is shit. I knew there were issues between catholics and protestants in Ireland but I didn't know that Northern Ireland was a separate entity until recently. I mean, our textbooks don't even accurately depict our own history (such as relations with natives and referring to slaves as "laborers") let alone teach us relevant things about other places.
I went to a public school and i knew this my books also never listed slaves as "labors". America is unique in the fact that states act as their own separate beings. It depends on your state and school district when it comes the the value of public education. I've heard stories of people being told to rip out pages covering native relations. The only thing i wish would change is more focus on discrimination and prejudice towards european ethnicities( Irish and Italians for example) and not just Asia and Africa.
Since the dawn of man, no one could predict the series of horrifying disaster that would be…
The 80’s
Fleur Poe People getting high off of cocaine & hairspray 💇
The best era of humanity to be honest, unless you prefer the Dark Ages, or the Bubonic Plague or the Second World War?
Stephanie!!! From Caleb Gallo!!! 🥰
the interaction between the two is really well put together - and love the smile at the end, gives some hope
you should do spain, there was a republic, a dictatorship and a crazy artistic movement in less than a century
+julia.cb i second that, seeing spain would be awesome
90's Rep.Of.Ireland looks like your typical childhood pop/dance/techno crush.
Ye still love it though haha
omg stephanie!!!
UK: triggered that Ireland came first
༻ Canary Mapping ༺ surely they would do each individual country in the U.K.
Still waiting
All of Ireland was part of the UK frea 1801-1922. The partition till spilt the 2 countries happened in 1921
Cut said they made a UK episode but it focused too much on the royal family and it looked silly as it wasn't representative of everyday looks so they scrapped it
1980s Northern Ireland makes me think of Bellatrix LeStrange tbh
nobody gave a fuck in the 80s XD
Sean Whot me too !!
Sean Whot yesss
About to comment since no one is mentioning this. Scrolled and saw yours and:
Welp, I guess I'm late
YAS
The episodes I love the most are those that show a separation of a nation. Germany, Korea, and now Ireland. It's so fascinating to see how the looks differ and/or overlap.
Also. Oh my God. The 80s hit Ireland the hardest. I didn't think it could get worse
I loved the split and the allusions to the Troubles. Also one of the most accurate “100 years of” videos by a big group like Cut!
Oh my God '80 😂😂
Please do Poland!
good idea
+Simon Glans 😂😂
YES
Yes ✨
yes!
Still wondering why France hasn't been done yet... Good video though :)
+Ingrid Sora Probably because France is not really an easy one to do and also because they get pressure from fans to do countries from all over the world and not just the West, which is understandable.
I understand what you are saying but France is THE country for women beauty. I find it weird they still haven't done it ☺
Ingrid Sora That's your opinion though isn't it, the concept of beauty is a mere opinion and varies across the world. Which is a part of the reason for 100 years of beauty.
In my opinion, French women wouldn't be in my top 10, not that they aren't good looking, but I just don't find them as good looking as say, Brazilian, Spanish, Czech, German or Irish women.
+Fil Buric I agree with you. But she's not saying that French woman are the most beautiful, she's saying that the fashion, the industry, the history of the beauty in France is exceptional.
+Fil Buric As a French, I'm way more curious to see more videos on african or south-american countries, as fashion, and its relation to history and politics, has been very different from what we know here. Let's face it, there have been general trends across western countries that make those european videos very similar... France would probably be quite redundant.
I didn't think it was gonna be a serious video and expected Brian to jump in 😂
I find these videos so fascinating, partly for the beauty of the women but also the wider historical context for some of the looks.
everybody asking for france and england...
what about chile? my little piece of earth :c
plz plz
I'd love to stuff from more South American countries!
yeaaah we neeeed chile
Chilito 💕

The 80's was horrible for everyone
that was style if u didn't know
that was style if u didn't know
nah not for everyone, skin heads and more indie people looked rad imho. Especially the men, if 1980's Morrissey walked to the road he'd blend right in.
And
Yea

Never thought I'd see my country get the 100 years of beauty treatment but I'm really glad they did it. Its also the most appropriate time since St Patrick's day is tomorrow and the 1916 centenary coming up soon.
I wish you a happy St Patrick's day! I wish I could live it one day :)
And as I heard there were conflicts between the two Ireland not many long ago, I'm wondering how things are now. I see that they're smiling to each other at the end of the video, so I think it's better, but I would like to hear someone concerned :)
+ralphyolder Our relationship with the north is better. Everyone of all religions can easily cross borders between the republic and north. Its much more peaceful but there still are some problems but no relationship is perfect. We can easily go to university and work in either side of the country.
+ralphyolder It's good for the most part. The conflict wasn't really between Ireland and Northern Ireland but between British loyalists and Irish republicans within Northern Ireland. It was between those who saw Northern Ireland as Irish and those who saw it as British. People still identify as one of these positions but are no longer fighting for them. The Good Friday Agreement in '98 was a peace treaty which allows Northern Ireland to decide their own fate (Irish or British) based on what the majority wants. At the moment and for the foreseeable future, Northern Ireland has a loyalist majority.
The one area where you can find ongoing issues is in Belfast, the capital of the North. Areas are generally loyalist or republican (murals at the head of streets tend to indicate which) as are schools (the connection of loyalism with protestanism and republicanism with catholicism allows for this segregation of schools). There is mistrust and simmering resentment of the other group which occasionally spills over into sporadic violence.
Generally though there aren't issues outside Belfast and the north and republic maintain good relations.
+ralphyolder Also the south, during world war 2 got bombed by the Germans once for sending help and fire engines to northern Ireland to help rebuild after Germany blitzed them.
I love these videos! I'm from Ireland and I'm so happy that you did an Irish one of these. So cool.
Amazing! I loved the way she rocked every look of each era but, when you have beautiful skin and a long graceful neck like she does, you can be a beauty in every era.
Ireland didn't survive the 80's.
Her eyes are goddamn beautiful
She looks so soft and warm. I wish I could give her a hug
These guys get POlTICAl when they pull out the props
STEPHANIE! ❤❤❤ it made my day to stumble upon you on this channel.
England!!!
Yes!
+Shibasakiアディー Yeah, the United Kingdom!
+Shibasakiアディー Oh man, you know what the English did to the Irish? This is like yelling out Germany! on an Israel video...
Not the whole of ireland tho.
+Alice Lee No sweat! You are quite articulate aren't ya?! I live in the north and throughly enjoy spending time in the south. Yeah we're overwhelmed by other countries! I getcha!
THE FREAKEN 80's!!!
+Nikki Espinal Ireland is probably the worst country hit.
+Das Staubkorn No its not D:
I really like the songs you use for these. The editing is fantastic too
i can't stop watching these help
What a gorgeous model!
I adore each of this videos, and this one is just stunning like all of them! Please do Colombia!
yaaaas
OMG I clicked so fast and not even reading the title. It's Stephanie!!!! I always watch her funny videos with Brian ❤️ She is so beautiful!!! 😍
I really love when cut splits the video for two different regions
The Republic and Northern Ireland look like twin sisters who would try as hard as they can to look different from each other, only for the end result to be basically the same.
Well put
And remember folks. It's Paddy's, not Pattys
I love how the two separate styles were still pretty damn similiar.
Stephanie, every style shows me one single thing, you're gorgeous no matter the hair style you have. Great eyes also.
Poland or Turkey next please ^^
Poland!
Poland!
Yeah, Turkey please 😀
maybe Azerbaijan? :)))
+Назифа Исмайлова there is one with Azerbaijan 😊
I just marathoned the whole playlist, and these videos kinda made me realize how many different types of "beautiful" there are in the world and how everyone's individual look has a history. This is really cool, you guys, keep it up!
Oh I'm super glad you showed both the Republic AND Northern Ireland.
HER EYES OMG IM DROWNING AND I NEED A CPR
I'd like to see one for the UK, with wartime styles etc.
You mean England? Wales? Scotland? They've done Northern Ireland, which is part of the UK.
I like the way you had them smiling at each other in the end. Really telling of how far we've come :)
Jesus fucking Christ what happened in the 80s?!?
the troubles
I think he means the terrible hair style Strelok, not the conflict (which is more the 70's in this video).
my mistake
I think Jesus left.
Derry in the 80s= People recovering from the Bogside bombings and keeping a somber appearance
Belfast= Prince Of Bel Air
You feel the green gray colours of this beauty.
Sweden/Nordic country would be awesome to see. Also that last look from Ireland (republic) was so bad ass
Do the Netherlands!! Seriously curious
VCard raza
+Ashley Edelenbos gabber in the 90s
That would be great!

+Gongack Oh wait yeah that's her!!!
PLEASE DO AUSTRALIA!
+veronica singen well both, and then perhaps a side by side of the two (like african-american and american men was done)
+veronica singen Lol Australia isn't even 100 years old...
lol ur a fucktard
+Hamed Hosseini Why does that even matter
I don't think Australia has any culture.. it's just west's culture so it should be pretty close to England and etc..
The 80's hit these people hard.
Her face was timeless yet classy
Where are the huge eyebrows and orange skin
As an Irish person, I fucking died. Jesus Christ it's so true, girls these days walkd around like wannabe Kardashians.
StayOpenn Where I live in Ireland no one hardly wears make-up. tbh you're true.
Fucking Tóbí In these years we weren't wanna be Kardashian but sadly most of Ireland does. Even in 2010 we were normal enough.
I am living in Dublin and all I can see is orange tan, crop top even now that is freezing and huge sperm eyebrows
StayOpenn Oh well you live in a city. I live in the country side .
FRANCE !!!
She is so gorgeous I am absolutely mesmerized
shes gorgeous
The 80s was a.... well..... dark time
Sheepboss Gaming And that's with the domestic terrorism!
Dark? Haha. Today young people have depression. And in 80s: ruclips.net/video/PIb6AZdTr-A/видео.html
Well its all about perspective... You could either call it a dark time or a funny time!
Sheepboss Gaming, are you joking? The 1930;s and 40's was a dark time.
The music and cars from the 80s are great but not the fashion and haircuts
The 80s were just the worst time for fashion in history.
It's always so interesting with the split screen especially when there is so much difference.
I would really love to see more of these videos.
I can't stop staring at Republic of Ireland
I literally had no clue Ireland was divided.
The more you know.
Do you live under a rock?
Yep the northern part is part of britian :)
+Zannle No, it is part of the UK.
+grace3726 Are they not the same? I know British isles includes all of ireland
Yes, but (Great) Britain only comprises the countries on the bigger British isle (England, Scotland and Wales).
Her eyes are GORGEOUS
As a girl from Northern Ireland, I can say I've never seen anything more accurate than the 2000s on this video😂
Brazil deserves a second video, just like the US ones!
Pretty sure they'll continue with Brazil in the future!
I think lots of people forget Ireland is actually split into two; great video.
fav 100 years beauty till now
That transition is so coooolll
A common theme is the tragedy of the 80's
Looks like no one was saved in the 1980s.
+London girl check out the Lithuania video. They're the only ones that were somehow safe.
The Italians were pretty safe, if I remember correctly...
The Italy gold Versace one was kinda gorgeous :P
+London girl Iran was
+London girl Philippines was safe too
1:00 that eye roll......priceless!!! I love all her expressions, but that one just made me LOL xD xD xD
i love how these videos spark historical discussions (despite some of it coming from really stupidly ignorant comments) but nonetheless it's cool that these videos have the power to do that
