I have bad eye sight, but even if I did not I would rather straight line than a blob. Contact fishing for me. All my boating was off shore on the sea. Love the noise of water against the boat. Good video Simon. Take care mate. Shaun.

I agree that fishing the line is far more satisfying personally and though I have had a go with a bung a few times to see how it works 99% of the time I fish 'old school'. I just dont understand why a lot of people on the Fly Fishing groups I belong to get so upset when people choose that method. I find it a little strange when most of us are fishing for farmed, artificially stocked trout and are simply doing it for fun. 😊. I have to admit I LOVE being on the water, I must have a go with a float tube at some stage, have you ever tried it?

First fish was overwintered... you can tell by the tail having silver rays in it...

You need to two anchors to fish buzzers and nymphs properly. With one anchor you are at the mercy of the wind and all too often your presentation is ruined by the boat swinging.

One anchor worked just fine thanks. Not sure how two would have made a difference on a day like this 🤔. The boat wasn't swinging around much. I can see it helping on a windy day.
Grafham supply the one anchor and I don't carry a spare thanks.

One anchor is standard supply on every ressy I have ever fished and I think I have fished all the major English and Welsh ones over the past 30 years. A second one is relatively inexpensive and until you try using two you simply don't know what your missing as your reply shows. It's no coincidence that bank anglers catch more fish using buzzers and nymphs when the fish are in casting range. If you get a chance on a quiet day ask the lodge for a second anchor. Start fishing with one and then put the second down as far apart as it's practical and then witness the improvement in takes and better fish
