I love that it took until Washington the second go round to discover that she like going slower. We never stop learning about ourselves and by extension our hiking style.

So glad to finally find a video on Heaps. I asked John Z for a Routes Pod featuring the chipster, but this is way more insightful. Cheers from the UK, ladies! (Big luv to John Z too)

I met Heaps in NoCal, she was very impressive. I hiked with her for a little bit, but our paces were not the same. She was doing 50s and I was only doing 30s. She is an impressive lady. --Rant

Hi Mari, great video. I have often joked after achieving any huge thing to go back to the start and see if you can do it in faster time. However, I am now seeing a lady who has actually done that on the PCT. Wow!!! Well done Heaps!! I am in shock. The PCT is a very long hike and doing it twice, should put her in the Guinness Book of Records. I am actually waiting until they open a walking trail from Melbourne Australia to Wellington New Zealand. I believe there is a trail, but I have heard that it is a bit flooded at the moment!!! LOL. Anyway, wishing you the very best. Robert.

Wonderful insight from someone who's been there and done that. As the thought of walking more than 1 hour away from my driveway is just a waste of time to me, and now I just watched a person more crazy than you Mari. I do mean it in a nice way, I enjoy the experience of watching people who are passionate about what they love to do. From this video, there is no way I would survive with her backpack, 2 days tops, seriously.

I listened several times but couldn't undrerstand what her favourite meal is? "Cold soaked instantry fried beans and chips in mayo perkins". What did she actually say? 17:43

    • @mari.johnson

Instant refried beans and mayo packets 😊 Cold soaking is the method of cooking that doesn’t require a stove.

"We didn't go camping because we didn't have a lot of money"
LOL i found this statement sooooo confusing
Where I come from, people always said "We didn't have money growing up to go on vacations, so we just went camping"
Like I can't quite wrap my head around this.
In her world, camping is expensive?
