    I grew up in Chicago on the Westside and ATL as well...I'm talking about the real ATL (inside of I-285) not Dekalb, Cobb, Clayton county, etc. I always tell people there are two sides to ATL. Out of towners come down here thinking it's all fun, women, celebrities, strip clubs, and Black Hollywood. Nah...Atlanta has the highest income gap between rich and poor in the US.

    • @jamessanders6788
      @jamessanders6788 4 года назад +22

      Absolutely. When I visited/lived in Atlanta, between 89 - 2001, I was shocked by the disparity. And I am from Baltimore. Baltimore was much different, even during the middle stages of it's downfall. Atlanta poverty was shocking to me.

      @@jamessanders6788 My pops moved downtown on Peachtree St. in 86, and we used to live either in the Old 4th Ward area or in Zone 5 which is borderline Midtown/Downtown, so I used to live down the street from Techwood Homes(the first public housing in the US), the Fox Theatre, the Varsity and 3 miles from the Underground and Magic City(LOL). So I've seen the transformation of this town unlike most and I know it's history. When I used to visit my dad in the summer and moved to go to school down here permanently, I was amazed at Black folks were apart of the machine. It felt good to see Black folks driving luxury cars, owning businesses, living in mansions, and sending their kids to private schools. However, in reality, there are a lot of successful Black folks in ATL that don't really care about those still living in the underclass. That's why I say racism is real, it's still relevant but classism is so much more powerful and potent.

      I grew up about an hour away from Chicago and now live 45 mins outside of ATL. As you know, Chicago is the murder capital. You’ve probably had experienced things a lot worse than people who live in the hoods down here because you grew up on the west side of Chicago. I completely agree with what you said on they’re being two sides of ATL. I also agree with what you said on people who aren’t from here thinking that everything’s fun. However, there’s more things to do in Chicago. Since Atlanta has warmer winter weather, more homeless people would want to stay down there because homeless people want to live in warmer climates.

    My Grandmas sister just moved to ATL with her son. They live in a half million dollar home though, after selling the 800k house out here in Cali. it's actually bigger than the Cali house. Shit I'm trying to get into real estate like cuz so I can get my Mom and Grandma a nice house. Big cuz is a inspiration to the whole fam. I lived there and just moved away. That city really needs a hard on crime mayor. The school system south of the perimeter is pathetic. I really think they need to raise the standards in Atlanta. Once they do that, people will suffer for a generation or two on account of living a "anything goes" lifestyle. These people will die out or leave. Let people who are more deserving and more respectable move in.

    A Lot of My Friends Moved to the ATL, in & Out of the City for the Last 30 Years.
    The Black Mecca as People Called Atlanta cause it had a Niche that brought them to the ATL Region, Housing was Cheap in in Atlanta, Now you can't find Anything for Under $100 Grand, Let Alone for Under $200 Grand, the Neighboring County's Like De Kalb & Others Blew Up in Population, Fulton County Property Tax System is a Joke, Whitey is Running Out the Po Black Folks in the Bad Hoods of the ATL & Buying Up Older Houses in Untapped Neighborhoods in the City of Atlanta, & Fixing them Up & Flipping Them for Around $275,000 & Up!
    & What I'm Hearing is that Long Time Black Folks is Getting Run Out of the ATL, because Whitey Wants to Redo their Communities & Bring in People who Have Money Like Gays & Lesbians, or Younger White People, who Have Money & Steady Careers to Move in & Bring Up the Property Values in the ATL, what I have Seen in Housing Prices in the ATL is Like here in L.A. & the Rest of California & Denver, Seattle & Austin, Texas & the DFW Metroplex, New York & Boston & Other Rising Regions
    I knew this this would Come back to Atlanta & Bite them in the Ass, Because so Many People are Moving Out of the Region & Developers want to Make Cheddar by Jacking Up Housing & Apartments Prices so they can Live the American Dream by Pricing Out the Poor & Middle Class & Live Large & Whitey, Gays & Lesbians Bring Property Values to the Communities that were Run Down & Poor Black Folks & Gangs & Drug Dealers & Other Low Life's Tore Down in the Past!
    & It Ain't Gonna be Long when the Hood that Chickie Bo Showed will have a Target on its Back & Be Gentrified in the Future & Po Black Folks Will Get Kicked Out for a New Generation of Non Blacks & where will the Po Black Folks from that Hood Go?
