I appreciate the work arounds for different things that apple just decides we don’t need . Like using screen recording so I can make a slide show and share with friends .
Replays are free. And, you can click the gear at the bottom of the RUclips player to find an option that controls playback speed. You can slow me down, or just ask specific questions in the comments. Thanks for watching!
In my experience, you have to use screen recording to save the video to your photo library. Then you can upload it to Instagram. I cover this as the last part in this video.
Thank you so much for the cheat code on sharing these cause I really like the memories and that sucks not being able to share them but now I can thanks to you
If you're on a Mac, you can do that in the Photos app. The Mac version of the app repeats shows until you stop them. Or, you can use an app like VLC on Mac to repeat a video indifenetly. I just checked and see that the iOS version of VLC allows you to set a video to repeat playback on an endless loop.
In an album I can change the order of the pictures and the pictures show in the changed order in the slide show. But when I save the album to a shared album, they revert to the order of the date they were shot. This screws up the slide show. How can I share a slide show with the pictures in the order I set up?
I understand what you mean. I recommend using screen recording to record the slideshow. Then, you can save that as a video into Photos and then add that video of the slideshow recording to the shared album. Essentially, you'd be sharing all the original pictures in the album, along with a video of your slideshow presentation. Here's the timestamp to that part of the video. ruclips.net/video/TlQiZAgp8LA/видео.htmlsi=Dbi3n4kZBLFCQOLX&t=455 Please let me know if that works for you.
I talk about that later in the same video. Here's a timestamp to that part: ruclips.net/video/TlQiZAgp8LA/видео.htmlsi=NYDwUxpKd7H-NY4q&t=405 In short, because there are no sharing options for Slideshows on the phone, you can sort of hack your way around this using screen recording, assuming the show isn't too long. I show this in my video.
You know, now that I look I see that if you have an album with more than one photo, on either the Photos app on an iPhone or at photos.google.com in the web browser, there is an option for a slideshow, but it doesn't seem to support music or many other slideshow options. I'll keep digging into this. And I'll have to test with shared albums. Do you think it might be worthy of a video or two?
Ivan, this is fantastic... I was trying to make a picture and video collage for a friend's birthday and this helped... I even discovered how you change the song... You can even choose a song off of your iTunes downloads (How cool is that?) I can download Paul McCartneys Happy birthday song instead of the lame music choices.. If I were to upload on social media or youtube, would I get in trouble?
Yes, probably. On RUclips it might be a copyright claim or takedown. On somewhere like Facebook, the audio might become muted. I touch on this a bit in this video: ruclips.net/video/BAj-vk0xnBo/видео.html&si=K48ee-Law1xb3bcx
The other thing that would be helpful is to teach us how to edit (Change the order of the pictures) It seems like it puts them in the order that you select them and if you decide later that you want one particular photo/video to be the first, you can't do it without deleting the whole memory and starting over
Great tutorial, thank you. I was able to make my slideshow however when going in to change the music only a few songs from my music library appear as an option. Is there a way to choose from the entire library on my phone. (I did click on VIEW ALL but it doesn't open the full library)
First, songs on your Mac must be downloaded. And, second, only the not-copyrighted music will be available. If you subscribe to a streaming service like Apple Music, you might need to either import non-copyrighted music or purchase from the iTunes store. Here's a short video I made about how to work around an Audio issue you'll see when trying to use a track downloaded from Apple's streaming service: ruclips.net/video/GjPptH5Hnpk/видео.html
I haven't run into a limit. I expect there isn't one, or that it might be limited by the available space you have on your iPhone or iPad. The slideshow playback should keep your iPhone or iPad from falling asleep. Please let me know if you discover it behaves differently for you.
Is there an updated video for this? Screen recording is not the ideal method to use. I'm using iOS 17.3 and it lets you save the slideshow as a video file itself directly to the Photos app.
I recorded that on iOS 17, I believe. I’m on iOS 17.3.1 right now. The “slideshow” feature on the iPhone doesn’t let you share anywhere other than to Airplay. The “memory video” feature does. My video covers both. However the memory video option may not show up if you don’t have enough photos selected. The Mac offers some different options, although the slideshows you export from it come out in a lower quality than what the phone produces.
I recorded a slideshow per this video. Worked great but when I show the video the words, “done,” “Slideshow” and the pause icon show all the way through the video. How do I record a slideshow without showing those words?
You can crop the screen recording. And one tap can toggle the display of the playback controls at the begging of video playback. Let me know if this is confusing.
Is there an option to create a Title for slideshows created from Library or Photo Albums? Where are the slideshows that are created from the Library or Photo Albums (not Memory Videos) saved?
Two excellent questions! 1) Unfortunately, there isn't an option to create a title for a slideshow. Those assembled from a selection of several photos have no title. Those assembled from Albums inherit the name of the Album from which they were spawned. You can create and edit titles for Memory videos. 2) The slideshows aren't saved anywhere. They are created in real-time, whenever you choose to view them. You can save Memory videos, Or, you can use the steps I describe for saving the slideshow as its own video back into your Photos library. Here's. a link to that part of this video: ruclips.net/video/TlQiZAgp8LA/видео.htmlsi=5gDGVlqzSCJFE3It&t=405 Thanks for your questions!
For me, the memory didn't show on every collection of photos. I had to have more than 5 in my albums before the memory option came up. The For You section should show show you a few.
The slideshow doesn’t save anywhere. It’s more of an on-demand presentation. You can save Memory Videos. I have used screen recording to save my phone slideshows.
Unfortunately, no way to shuffle the images. Each slideshow is a collection of images in the order you set. The only hint I see is about using the Mac's screensaver feature to generate a random order. I don't know of an app, but I'm looking into it.
Thank you for the tips. I have a question: Is there a way to time the slideshow so that it ends when the background song ends? So far, I'm doing it by trial and error and that requires me to watch and listen to the slideshow over and over again to get it right. And it seems like I can't even just go to the very end of the slideshow. Each time, it starts from the beginning. I'm using an iPad. Thank you. P.S. I have a MacBook Pro which does have more editing features however the song I want to use is DRM-protected and my MacBook Pro doesn't allow me to use an MP3 file (which is how I have the song saved on my iPad).
On the iPad? Unfortunately, no, there isn't a way to time the slideshow to finish slideshow with the music. The closest thing you can do on the iPad is choose a different theme and then you can slide she turtle/rabbit slider to make the photos go by slower or faster. On the Mac, though, you've got a lot more options. Here's a video that shows how to create the slideshow in the Photos app: ruclips.net/video/BAj-vk0xnBo/видео.html Here's how to purchase a DRM-free version of a song you'd like to use in the Slideshow on your Mac: ruclips.net/video/rSr-M10d-rQ/видео.html And here's a video that shows you how to get rid of the DRP-protected copy so that you can download the DRM-free version of the song you purchased into a Slideshow on your Mac: ruclips.net/video/GjPptH5Hnpk/видео.html
@@HeyIvan OMG! Thank you!!!!! I was on the phone with Apple tech support twice, plus two different chats and none of them knew why I could not use a song I bought from Apple music. Bizarre! But you totally solved my issue. Except what I ended up doing as a work-around is a lot of trial and error to time the song to the slideshow. You know, there are a LOT of weird corner cases when it comes to Apple. I describe their systems as "deceptively simple." For most things it's pretty straight-forward. However, for other things, it can get complicated .. fast. For example, Photos library sharing can now happen in 2 separate ways. One way is with a shared album. The other way allows you to share your whole library with a partner or someone else. It's not obvious how to do the second one, but if you aren't careful, you'll think the first might be what you want. I'm glad I was able to help. I only wish I could have responded faster so you could have benefitted from the time saving.
@@HeyIvan No worries and thank you!! I wish I could contact the tech support woman who did not help me! She gave me a reason I couldn't use the song I wanted to use. But she did not give me the solution as you did!
You will be able to insert music from your music library as long as it isn't music from Apple's streaming service. The tracks you insert must be purchased on imported separately and not the copy protected stuff that most folks stream. This video talks a bit about it, from the Mac perspective. The concepts still apply, though. ruclips.net/video/GjPptH5Hnpk/видео.html

I’ll check with Apple to see if there is a limit on screen recording time. This problem could be related to how much available storage you have on your iPhone. Go to settings, general, iPhone storage. This should show you how much free space you have on your iPhone. If the phone is almost full, that would explain why the screen recording stops. Let me know. And I’ll report back when I find out from Apple.
