$10,000 for a hacky Deadpool cover from 2010 instead of ASM or X-Men #1???
Anyone out there interested in what's happening with the world's economy?!? Unless you've got DEEP DEEP DEEP pockets, the last thing you should be buying are collectibles, including comic books. Straight talk.
Who'd want a Wolverine # 1 variant over a solid copy of ASM # 1?
Not me. I would buy a couple of 1000 books before I’d get to that Wolverine book for that price.
It's not even a good cover.
That is bat shit crazy
Who?... stupid people! (about 50% of the population)
The Ultimate Fallout..... I dont know man, I still don't think people that buy Miles actually like Miles.
I’m an old guy. I love Miles as a character and his published series. I would never pay one ¢ extra for a “newsstand.” ☮️
Utterly ridiculous price for a "newsstand" version. Literally who cares about that?
I suspect the Wolverine variant was an Ebay scam. The buyer sells a book not even worth $100 to himself for $17,000 and then pays the Ebay fee. Then you sell it for $8,000 to someone else and the buyer sees it previously sold for $17,000. Then the seller profits. You can't really trust Ebay sold listings as a guide.
It is not the same book, different certification numbers. Yet I in no way understand this price.
@@bronzevillecomics2581 This is one of the rarest Wolverine books out there. One of the controversial destroy X amount of covers and send them to marvel for this variant. has always been an expensive book even back in 2014 was selling for 2K.
Love these type of videos, amazing what people will pay for relatively new books
The lower numbers for December as opposed to November could have something to do with people prioritizing Christmas? Excellent overview.
These are my favourite videos you do, very interesting. 👍🏼 (even with the washing up going on in the background.... 😆)
Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make Mistake but they don’t quit... As the economic crisis keep rising, we literally need to have different streams of income. The crypto market has plenty opportunities to earn a decent Payouts with the right skills and proper Understanding of how the market works.
Yeah you're absolutely right..... Lots of people are still making massive profits from the stock and crypto market, all you really need is some relevant information and some professional advice. It is totally inappropriate for investors to stand by as they take dips during significant market diclinism
@@tommybrown1226 A good investment requires experience and knowledge to carry out a successful operation. Professionally, it is recommended to trade with experienced brokers, who can help you increase your profits while helping you learn the trade
Well I invest with a top trader Investor Ashton Edwards you might have heard of him.. I can correctly say he's the best top trader in the world, an investment advisor as his diversification skills are great, I say this because i see that in his results as my portfolio grows by averages of 25% to 35% on a weekly basis, unlike i can say for my IRA which has just been trudging along. my portfolio just mirrors what he place and not just on some particular industries of my choosing. He gave me that financial freedom I needed
@@tommybrown1226 Honestly I really need help with learning how to trade. Seeing my portfolio low makes me very sad. Please do you mind sharing any means of reaching out to him easily?
@@karenleslie3603 Just type Investor Ashton Edwards, look his name up on the internet. You will find everything you need to know about him, you could leave him a message on his personal webpage
Hi Jim,
happy new year.
I wanted to thank you for your great videos from last year.
I learned a lot and I got some great ideas for my own collection.
I am really looking forward to your videos in 2023.
They putting the dishes up and you can see him getting frustrated lol
I expect there will be a continued interest in raw books over slabbed comics as the investors and speculators continue to fall out of the hobby. A collector/reader like myself has zero interest in a slabbed book. I have been collecting for over 50 years and the hobby got along just fine before CGC. Somehow comic book commerce rolled right along. To pay a premium for a slabbed book, particularly the ridiculous premium on higher end books is just dumb, especially on Ebay. With Ebay buyer protection, you can literally return an item and get your money back for any reason whatsoever. If a book comes in a lesser grade than expected, just return it. At a show or convention, you get to see and hold the book and judge it yourself, why pay the premium? Auction houses are just as safe. What does that leave, Whatnot? You have to be nuts to use that anyway, no offense. To identify restoration? Outside obvious crappy restoration which makes the comic look worse, who cares? It wasn't an issue until CGC made it an issue with the different colored label. Restoration was very common, and in many cases necessary for preservation, not that long ago. Why on Earth would color touch undetectable by the naked eye devalue a book? Why would archival tape or rip sealant applied to prevent further deterioration devalue a book? Mindboggling.... The quicker the speculators and "investors" lose their asses the better. Then I can finally get the last issue I need to complete my run of Two-Gun-Kid, number 77 with the baloney Black Panther "prototype", for the deserved $20 instead of the $200 it's going for. You should do a video as to why Ebay sellers sell a book for $9,000 and then tack on $5 for shipping!?
@@lunarlives468 that doesn’t make sense. Whether you charge a customer for shipping has nothing to do with whether you deduct shipping expenses on your taxes. It’s whether you pay for shipping as a seller. Also, you need to hang on to every receipt in support of any deductions.
I have about a dozen slabbed comics because they were very good value on Ebay - everything else in my collection (started in 1971) is raw. I have no intention of sending any comic to be graded. Also, unfortunately baloney "prototypes" are a trend these days: Swamp Thing Annual #2 (1985) is being pushed as an unofficial team cameo appearance of Justice League Dark, which is rubbish, the team name is used nowhere in the story and the characters are simply obvious choices for a tale that deals with the supernatural - it's just speculators trying to create a niche book to push the price up. Good luck finding you Two-Gun Kid #77.
Nice to know you can do math unlike Dave from Comic book investments. 🤣
It may have been a slow finish to 2022 but 2023 is gonna be great for collecting books!
Breaking dishes 😂
Someone's mad! It wasn't their turn to do dishes 🤣
Yay! Top ten lists are my fave!!
Love the content. Prices are down as the economy is struggling and it’s the Christmas period. Hopefully a better 2023.
Going to be happy with the X-Men #1 facsimile when it comes out
I sold a edge of spiderverse 2 land variant this month for 8600 on eBay!!! That should’ve made the list!!!😢
Hmm. I didn’t come up in my search. Good for you.
Interesting video. Still not enough DC.
That’s not my fault. Lol. DC is gaining on some of the hot lists.
I really enjoyed your video. Was very interesting for sure.
Thanks for doing the hard work of going through Ebay's data to produce this video, Jim. Say, as a Maths teacher could you claim the time you spent on analysis as a tax write-off? Maybe create a few problems for your students to solve in order to prove to the IRS that it is indeed work-related? That's a good point you make about the two Batman #251s you had, both 6.0 but it's the overall impression each comic makes that will separate the two in the eyes of a potential buyer. If I had $10,700 I wouldn't be spending it on a recent comic, I'd be looking at high-grade Bronze Age comics and a few Silver Age ones - these will hold their value when the Ultimate Fallout #4 bubble pops. I'd definitely like to see this style of video continue, maybe every quarter.
Enjoyed the video, but not the background sound of dishes that distracted throughout the first half of the video.
I enjoy your video's. I like the comparisons and more. Maybe you organize the pillow mountain/volcano behind you and hang up some art 😉 Also, that ASM1 ($10, 544) That's color touch you see. The green bleeding thru to the inside cover lines up with the green area on the front circle and bottom spine. Those 2 areas jump out clearly. Maybe they get the 4.0 but it looks Purple to me...Suspicious
Ya its not a buyers market nowthat the scare of war is dying down. Wait and jus but new stuff
Great vid!
That last raw Spidey has color touch. look inside the front cover, bottom spine. And possibly a spot in the top 3rd of the outer edge (also visible on the front interior photo)
I thought it might also, but there is a blue circle on the front cover that doesn’t go to the edge of the cover.
@@bronzevillecomics2581 That spot was my maybe. The bottom of the spine is almost certain
I like these videos. Please continue to do them 👍
I have an ASM 1 4.0 that I am hoping to sell but really think Im going to have to hold onto it until the market recovers.
There's a comic book for everyone, you just have to find it.
Greatly Appreciate the Knowledge & Content! CHEERS! :)
Crazy buys
Market will continue to face headwinds until Fed stops rate hikes. Would consider continued market consolidation into Q2-3
Yeah. Especially on these big books. It would be interesting to see if movement has changed on the books under $500 - but more of those sales are done at shops and shows compared to 2020-2021 where most dealings were online.
#3 on the list. The raw ASM 1 looks highly suspect. It has color touch as you can see from the pics of the inside. Also looks trimmed... I feel bad for the buyer. Dropping that much money on a stepped on book
It was clearly trimmed - and badly. The poor person who bought that book is going to be crushed when they get it graded.
@@bradcsuka5054 look at the color touch too!
@@christopherreynolds6964 Agreed on the color touch, but trimming for me is a complete non-starter as it represents actual destruction of the comic. Way too many questions on the restoration status of this book to support that price though.
Great Vid!
what beer goes with tacos?
good video
Thanks
The ASM lot does seem a bit weird - considering the price, and not just specifically what it went for but that range. Seems like anybody spending close to $10k (or even half that), whether a collector or flipper/investor, would be a bit reticent about spending that much on ungraded keys. But I can say that my experiences on eBay over the last few years do show a surprising willingness on the part of a fair number of bidders to pay market or above on lower-valued stuff; I've bid on and lost quite a few lots of DC bronze-age horror, for example, usually in the low hundreds of dollars, that just went for what seemed to me ridiculous prices. I suspect in those cases it's either collectors or long-term investors - unless these books are very high grade you can't flip them that easily for big profits. And something I think about also is that there are people who don't have access to anything but the internet to buy their comics - and they may be even more impatient about filling out a run than those of us who also have several LCS to scour occasionally.
I do think some people will value the books at graded prices and not realize that what they get in hand is not worth quite as much.
good vid / always interested in various opinions on this subject area //
