This is a pretty good way to do the limb inversion! I'd probably do it slightly differently myself though but similar to how you handled it. Instead of rendering out the body as blue and limbs as black turned into red, I would then render the limbs and body separately as solid black and the background as white. After that I would put the layers on top of each other and use the subtraction composite method to invert the colors where they need to be. This however would black out the screen but that's when the third part comes in where I use the arms render as a mask at the end! Doing this would remove the nasty aliasing artifacts you see with the limbs and the objects!

I really wonder what you and Micheal would have done with the show if you weren’t super busy with school and didn’t have your ad sense account suspended. The show could have looked a lot different. Anyway, I’m happy to see the season come back and honestly it’s become incredible. 13 and 14 were the best and I can’t wait for 15
working with chroma keying and masks is definitely a lot of fun! my object show takes place entirely in space, so i might find some use for this in my show at some point. it definitely seems like a lot of fun! thanks cary!
I really like this chroma key technique, but I'm still glad you chose to simply change the background color instead, since the alternate cut is rather cluttered and visually noisy. It's a great scene regardless though! The first moments of BFDIA 6 are such an important moment in Object Show history, so its great to see how much thought you put into it!
