I am a 17 year old male from Nepal 🖤🇳🇵 and from my personal experience.8-9 hours is a sweet spot and I feel energetic when I wake up if I sleep 7-8 hours I feel less energetic when I wake up and if I try to sleep more than 8-9 hours my body automatically wakes me up can't sleep more than that.I think the chart that Akshay sir showed is really accurate and I was misleaded for so many years that our body only needs 6-7 hours of sleep everyday.🖤
Since childhood my body can only sleep 6-6.15 hours. Not more. And many suggest to sleep 7-8 hours which is not possible for me even I took sleeping pills. It failed. Finally I thrown it to garbage

Less sleep induces stress on your body to which body compensate by increasing stress hormones, you are severely risking your life as the chances of heart attack increase with decreased sleep. Today's social media handicapped the sleep of an individual. Life has infinite possibilities but finite time so focus on important ones. You can't just reduce sleep time and not feel fatigued. I slept for 3-4 hours for approx a month during my exam phase. It wasn't fun. I was always exhausted both mentally and physically. I was always aggressive, getting angry at any slight annoyance. I would deter to come out of my room as it would just cause more problems to people around me. I was able to score decent but truly speaking sleeping 6-8 hours would have given similar results.

I completely agree with your point.For a normal Person,6-8 hrs of Sleep is necessary. I am an IT Professional,Have family problems,Study for competitive exams,Yet Meditate for 2 hrs a day(For the last 5 years),and also sleep 6 hrs daily.I have cut out time from Mobile and useless tasks,Hence meditation can be done for 2 hrs without compromising any other things,But sleep deprivation should not be done. The goal of meditation should be spiritual,And not Physical like Sleeping less.

Just love it, all the points mentioned are gold. Just to add, when you are healthy and fit then 6hr sleep is good. when you are sick, the more you rest and strech. The better it is. when necessary you have take down your sleep time to 4-5 hours a day. in very very rare cases, no sleep max for a day or two. Best of luck.

A sustainable routine is much more practical and long term effective than short term beneficial program. Appreciated for the quality of content as well as keeping a healthy view towards the other. I'm also trying to sleep regularly for 6-7 hours on daily basis. I had some issues due to which i consulted a physician and did medication for the same for a short period of time as suggested and so far its effective.
Sadhguru suggests to continue Shambhavi Mahamudra regularly everyday, without fail, it is a powerful 21 min practice, not 3-4 hours. I am an IT individual & I practice it everyday for last 5 months & I understand how it has enhanced my life.

With shambhavi mahamudra and mediation practice people can reduce the sleep quota.. and 3hrs for the yoga or mediation is for the people who does the yoga or follow yogic lifestyle intensely.. you can even do 1hr of yoga/ shambhavi mahamudra. You pulled examples of IT people and police officer.. my friend is in IT developer. He enrolled for shambhavi mahamudra.. people have time with proper priority and Time management.. so side-lining what Sadhguru said its for the people who can prioritize daily activities, for those who cannot prioritize the daily activities its difficult.. same as people how cannot prioritize going to gym and having healthy diet ..

It's really nice to see that you have brought this up. Hope this video reaches to people who just worship those guys promoting 3-4 hrs of sleep. People needs to understand that if they don't get the optimal amount if sleep the consequences will be as bad as death.
As long as people will follow such people blindly nothing can be done. And the problem with such people is that even if u beat them with logic they will get angry rather than accepting the truth this is the dangerous part of being a blind follower.
I also did Inner Engineering It is just 21 mins routine, twice a day Did I feel any reduction in sleep quota, No But quality of sleep definitely was improved, energy was better But it was a bit unsustainable for me and most of the people I know and stopped the practices
I’ve experienced it , in this condition 1,2 hours sleep feels like 8,9 hours proper high quality sleep,, to do it u have to complete detachment with body and mind ,, i didn’t practice but it was a gift of god ,, it’s very high spiritual thing which I wasn’t able to value, and lost it ,, got back into maya illusionary world of gym again
Not everything is for everyone. Milk is good for health but not consume everyone however fit without milk. It's all things are depend on person to person. Someone sleep 12 hours and someone not sleep to many years. Sometimes I sleep 2hours, sometimes 5 hours, sometimes 9 hours, sometimes 30-40 minutes. All things are depends on life situations. But generally I take sleep 6-7 hours! My personal experience is no any rules exist for all time equally good!🙏🏻

I was hoping that If i sleep less I'll do more work... Totally crap! To be more productive you need a deep sleep minimum of 3hrs and above for that you have to sleep 6 to 8 hrs. @@NathAesthetics I did not mentioned about Shambhavi Mudra 🤷♂️ And whenever you are performing spiritual practices you need guru with you to light you. There are multiple dark sides of spiritualism. If you have a mentor, Yogi, guru with you then only do it. Performing alone will be a terrible mistake. Because, After initiating kundalini you need spiritual guidance. So my suggestion to common people is not to perform without a guru. "Just fix your sleep"
3-5 hrs is possible but that needs great yogic saadhna. For most of us. 7-8 hrs is needed. Especially who workout and have a busy modern life. Nothing wrong in that if you're eating healthy as well.
I also sleeps only 3 hrs daily I follow this routine since 2 years but give 30 minutes to meditation but now I can't sleep more than that and I feel no mental difference in my life and the fact is I am an Athiest so don't think I am spamming but no meditation for it but that's my routine 😊

I am 43 year old now. I believed in this kind of nonsense that five hour sleep is enough and suffered seriously althrough my student life. In my university years, I never slept properly. As a result, I used to feel tired and dizzy and could not concentrate on my studies. If I had a time machine and could travel to my past and meet my younger self. I would have told myself to sleep for 8-9 hours.
Very well analyzed Sir ! Sadhguru is already operating at a peak level of what humans are capable of, what he says is more of an insight into what humans are capable of. It is our responsibility to be aware of what levels are we currently operating at and understand the context behind whatever information we are exposed to. If you have been meditating seriously since your childhood even then getting to that level is extremely difficult. If not, we should try to better ourselves slowly and steadily for sustaining it over the long term - and that is possible with small consistent improvements. Most things drastic are never sustainable or applicable to most humans on average.
I've known Yogis (not famous living in small town) for decades who are sleeping 1-2 hours at night. Looks healthier than most men/women. There are so many factors and science is in baby steps in this field of nutrition and health,

This is the first video that I am watching of yours and I was reluctant a few times to watch it because I thought it will be just another video which will attack this topic (being able to sleep 3/4 hrs is possible through yoga/meditation) just because of having personal agenda issues with the speaker/area ('seers' of science who blindly bash spirituality as pseudoscience and, hence, anyone or anything associated with it). Which is obnoxious & not acceptable, because if meditation exceeds more than 30 minutes to the max (e.g., like Kriya etc. form of meditation) is actually called sleeping or dreaming by missing our focus. As, I have done that program - inner engineering program in 2017 from Isha. Hence, with all due respect to Akshay and his work I firmly believe he has misunderstood. Thus, he needs to recheck the facts from this content which is very much misleading.

With shambhavi mahamudra and mediation practice people can reduce the sleep quota.. and 3hrs for the yoga or mediation is for the people who does the yoga or follow yogic lifestyle intensely.. you can even do 1hr of yoga/ shambhavi mahamudra. You pulled examples of IT people and police officer.. my friend is in IT developer. He enrolled for shambhavi mahamudra.. people have time with proper priority and Time management.. so side-lining what Sadhguru said its for the people who can prioritize daily activities, for those who cannot prioritize the daily activities its difficult.. same as people how cannot prioritize going to gym and having healthy diet ..
same,this could also be said about people going to gym...like who would invest 1 hours for gym and waste money

Seeing modi ji , I started 4 hr(2am-6am)+2hr(10am-12pm)
My body don't accept it, my eyes were red, then I quit.... Start 7 hr sleep.
Once again sir your analysis and advice is eye opener. I am fed up of similar tricks and so called sadhnas that seems lucrative but not needed by majority of common people.
Launching crash courses on Sadhnas for such a low level benefits is a trend these days. Using such courses without understanding foundational requirements and individual long term goals , will bring bad name to sacred practices. Once again you are amazing sir.

It's really nice to see that you have brought this up. Hope this video reaches to people who just worship those guys promoting 3-4 hrs of sleep. People needs to understand that if they don't get the optimal amount if sleep the consequences will be as bad as death.
As long as people will follow such people blindly nothing can be done. And the problem with such people is that even if u beat them with logic they will get angry rather than accepting the truth this is the dangerous part of being a blind follower.

Did I feel any reduction in sleep quota, No
But quality of sleep definitely was improved, energy was better
But it was a bit unsustainable for me and most of the people I know and stopped the practices
I feel 40mins a day is fairly sustainable.
What did they teach in Inner Engineering? Where did you attend? Fees?
I’ve experienced it , in this condition 1,2 hours sleep feels like 8,9 hours proper high quality sleep,, to do it u have to complete detachment with body and mind ,, i didn’t practice but it was a gift of god ,, it’s very high spiritual thing which I wasn’t able to value, and lost it ,, got back into maya illusionary world of gym again

Not everything is for everyone. Milk is good for health but not consume everyone however fit without milk. It's all things are depend on person to person. Someone sleep 12 hours and someone not sleep to many years. Sometimes I sleep 2hours, sometimes 5 hours, sometimes 9 hours, sometimes 30-40 minutes. All things are depends on life situations. But generally I take sleep 6-7 hours!
My personal experience is no any rules exist for all time equally good!🙏🏻

To be more productive you need a deep sleep minimum of 3hrs and above for that you have to sleep 6 to 8 hrs.
Not sleeping well causes problems with
1. decrease in Human Growth Hormone,
2. increase in cortisol hormones,
3. increases blood sugar,
4. increases stress level,
5. increases body fat(men boobs also),
6. increases estrogen amount and
7. decreases Testosterone.

@@NathAesthetics I did not mentioned about Shambhavi Mudra 🤷♂️ And whenever you are performing spiritual practices you need guru with you to light you. There are multiple dark sides of spiritualism.
If you have a mentor, Yogi, guru with you then only do it. Performing alone will be a terrible mistake.
Because, After initiating kundalini you need spiritual guidance.
So my suggestion to common people is not to perform without a guru. "Just fix your sleep"
3-5 hrs is possible but that needs great yogic saadhna. For most of us. 7-8 hrs is needed. Especially who workout and have a busy modern life. Nothing wrong in that if you're eating healthy as well.
I also sleeps only 3 hrs daily I follow this routine since 2 years but give 30 minutes to meditation but now I can't sleep more than that and I feel no mental difference in my life and the fact is I am an Athiest so don't think I am spamming but no meditation for it but that's my routine 😊
Sleep needs differ from person to person and based on tons of individual needs

I am 43 year old now. I believed in this kind of nonsense that five hour sleep is enough and suffered seriously althrough my student life. In my university years, I never slept properly. As a result, I used to feel tired and dizzy and could not concentrate on my studies. If I had a time machine and could travel to my past and meet my younger self. I would have told myself to sleep for 8-9 hours.

It is our responsibility to be aware of what levels are we currently operating at and understand the context behind whatever information we are exposed to.

If not, we should try to better ourselves slowly and steadily for sustaining it over the long term - and that is possible with small consistent improvements.
Most things drastic are never sustainable or applicable to most humans on average.

In this age of Kaliyuga simply by chanting god's name we get to the supreme level of consciousness as said by shrimad bhagvatam shrimad bhagvad gita Guru Granth Sahib ji. I am not countering your point it is as valid as mine but I am talking of something which is very practical no classes is required for this as said by Guru Gobind Singh ji "Jin Prem Kiyo Tin He Prabh Payo".

I have epilepsy. Doctors told me to sleep minimun 7hrs. I can say sleeping less is very very dangerous for people with neurological diseases. 7 to 8 hrs is essential for a healthy day

This is the first video that I am watching of yours and I was reluctant a few times to watch it because I thought it will be just another video which will attack this topic (being able to sleep 3/4 hrs is possible through yoga/meditation) just because of having personal agenda issues with the speaker/area ('seers' of science who blindly bash spirituality as pseudoscience and, hence, anyone or anything associated with it). I am genuinely happy that you held your own agendas back and delivered a genuine insight about it. Some people either just blindly uphold spirituality/religion or just blindly dismiss them. So, they ruthlessly bash anything/anyone who opposes their outlook without being open to all kinds of possibilities. I think both are close-minded and are weak to pursue the 'truth'. It's rightly said in spirituality that, 'You need to be brave to know the truth.' Thanks for this informative video and please keep going.
