Una musica stordente che non smetteresti mai di sentire; e immagini talora tragiche ma bellissime. Secondo me quanto di meglio s'è mai visto cinematograficamente. L'arte nella sua massima espressione.
Avevo circa 17 anni ed ero a casa da scuola con la febbre. Costretto a letto tutto il giorno alla sera mi ripresi un po', ero spossato ma senza sonno. Decisi comunque di rimanere nel letto guardando un po' di TV; trasmettevano questo magnifico capolavoro. Fu amore a prima vista. La mia malattia più bella di sempre.

Throughout the film, John is tormented by the past. I think Juan helped John find his inner peace. The last flashback was a happy one showing a parallel between Juan and Sean's friendship. Perhaps Juan symbolized what Sean could have been, a true, "great, glorious hero of the revolution." Nevertheless, I think John learns to forgive himself and his friend before death. At last, he finally sees that there was more than just dynamite. And then he explodes in a puff of smoke. Irony much?
Non ci sono più parole per i film di Leone e le musiche di Morricone...quante volte avrò visto questo film! In questi "ricordi " Leone è stato superlativo ad unire l'amore per l'ideale della rivoluzione dei 2 (ex) amici, attraverso la metafora di una bella donna , unito ,come sempre, da una musica che s'incastra alla perfezione con le immagini. I read somewhere that the girl symbolizes the revolution. Leone really does a good job with this. She's dressed in white, which is a pure, virginal color. The idea, I suppose, is that the revolution is pure. However, it's cool that he equates the revolution with a woman since, like a revolution, they change. I like how John takes her hand and later embraces her. Essentially, he has embraced the revolution. She also comes between Sean and John, foreshadowing that Sean is not quite as invested.
If you are of a certain age and lived within broadcast distance of CHOM-FM in Montreal in the early '70s this piece of music was the bed for their iconic station ID 'jingle' Sean Sean sounded so like CHOM CHOM that it fooled the ear. Magic.
That music, man was a genius, I'm Irish, it's amazin' how this melody conjures up thoughts of my homeland, but it's till a western, to me this is by far his finest work, first seen it when I was a child this song still brings up so many emotions

Forse la Rivoluzione ,ma la donna potrebbe anche rappresentare la" morte",infatti nel finale del film,poco prima che John muoia , si vede chiaramente che la donna abbraccia e bacia appassionatamente entrambi gli amici. Infine si vede John sorridente ,come se tutto fosse stato finalmente... compiuto.

If I started making films, Leone would be one of my major influences, along with Kurosawa, Weir, Hitchcock, Polański and Kubrick (with a pinch of Lynch and Carpenter).

Avevo solo 6 anni quando Leone e Morricone decisero di offrirci questo immenso capolavoro e immenso è quasi sminuirlo. E allora, proprio alla luce della tua giusta precisazione, mi viene da rimarcare ulteriormente : per una propria convenienza, anche futile, neanche un fortissimo ideale comune può trattenere uno dei due amici, amici DA UNA VITA, dal tradire l'altro. E lo sguardo disilluso di John all'indirizzo dell'amico, riflesso nello specchio del pub, spiega perfettamente, più delle parole, quello che voglio sottolineare e che, per esperienza personale, non riesco ad accettare . Ma "c'est la vie".
Giù la testa è il Capolavoro più sottovalutato di Sergio Leone, ma per me è uno dei suoi top 3 film e uno dei film più belli della storia del cinema. Un Capolavoro Immortale ❤
think this is one of the best movie of all times and particularly, maybe the best about revolutions. there is always a a story none has seen but told, written or else. at first, one gets in a revolution and lives the moment for it ends up eventually and all comes back where it started, except for the fact that years had passed and there is irreparable damage (simplest man point of view, Juan). May be the best movie of Sergio Leone !

Secondo quanto detto da Sergio Leone , il suo amico si chiamerebbe appunto Sean Nolan . ma visto che Sean è la versione scozzese del nome John , è evidente che nella colonna sonora , Sean Sean Sean si riferisca ad entrambi.
Sean is the Irish version of John. Shawn may be the Scottish version. I don't understand your Scottish reference. The only potential Scottish involvement would be the soldiers in the pub where Mallory shoots his former friend.

siendo la película más floja de Sergio Leone, las secuencias "irlandesas" de la misma (un homenaje a un irlandés universal... un tal John Ford) son, no tanto por su "poesía" como por estar brillantemente narradas, lo mejor de la película. Y, por cierto, James Coburn se come a Rod Steiger de pies a cabeza...
I agree with you and your last sentence is interesting.Unfortunately what someone feels can be manipulated by politicians,propaganda or somebody's interest to destroy country within,without foreign intervention,or aiming towards intervention to overthrow legitimate government.It really breaks your heart but people in politics have no heart,they are driven by interest and they despise normal people.Such is the logic of power.Common people believe in principles.Politicians don't.I was naive once.

Ciao, grazie per l'ottima precisazione, non la conoscevo e la apprezzo perché riguarda uno dei 2 film che caratterizzano l'inizio della mia vita.
Avevo solo 6 anni quando Leone e Morricone decisero di offrirci questo immenso capolavoro e immenso è quasi sminuirlo.
E allora, proprio alla luce della tua giusta precisazione, mi viene da rimarcare ulteriormente :
per una propria convenienza, anche futile, neanche un fortissimo ideale comune può trattenere uno dei due amici, amici DA UNA VITA, dal tradire l'altro.
E lo sguardo disilluso di John all'indirizzo dell'amico, riflesso nello specchio del pub, spiega perfettamente, più delle parole, quello che voglio sottolineare e che, per esperienza personale, non riesco ad accettare .
Ma "c'est la vie".

think this is one of the best movie of all times and particularly, maybe the best about revolutions. there is always a a story none has seen but told, written or else. at first, one gets in a revolution and lives the moment for it ends up eventually and all comes back where it started, except for the fact that years had passed and there is irreparable damage (simplest man point of view, Juan). May be the best movie of Sergio Leone !
