I live smack dab in the middle of the Appalachians... Born ,raised and lived there almost 80 years.. And yes there are things in those woods that have yet to be discovered, creepy things, monstrous things, evil things,,,, I have seen and experienced things that I cannot explain
Well, slap my uncle and call him dad, I've been living here a little over 80 years and I weren't never seen nothing out of the ordinary 'round these parts 'cept for some colored folk now and then.
I've been stalked by a cougar once while camping. I got up one morning to find tracks of her high heels circling my tent. I was confused how she got out there in them.
@@-DexterMorgan- Yes. So much I caught feels, married, had kids, divorced when she got bored with me, then I got the kids. Cougar's are seriously dangerous.
I live about a hour from the Application Mountains in VA. It's a beautiful place, I always tell people what a old man I met on the trail one day. He said "Respect the mountain and the mountain will respect you.' There are things in those mountains that you won't find anywhere else. Not just folklore, a lot of unexplained happenings. You can get lost in a minute. Unusual animals and beings. And the beauty is neverending. My advice is don't hike the trail alone.
I'm from VA. also. I actually live pretty deep into the mountains and there are definitely feral, deformed people that live in these woods. The movie "Wrong Turn" isn't all that inaccurate. There's been people venture into certain areas and they were never seen again. Some game wardens know about the feral people in the woods and will make hikers, hunters and campers stay away from certain areas. They will make the excuse that it's private property, a gas well or something like that. All it takes is a five minute Google search to find out that it's not private property and there is no gas well. Of course I suppose they can't just come out and say "there's deformed, inbred cannibals that live upon that ridge, so you better stay away from there!" lol.
Good advice. There is something where I live, its intimidating. BUT when it realizes you mean no harm it will stop doing anything when you're around. Also, my dog gets super excited and happy anytime its around. Very strange.
@@joshuawesteros5345 it could just be a unknown animal that's just shy. When it senses danger it can be frightening. It realizes that you are not there to harm or judge, it lets you be. But with something unknown friendly or not, never let your guard down. Stay safe!
I live in the area of the Appalachians the story is set in. As a matter of fact, as I am writing this comment I am at work on my lunch break and am around 2 miles from Bumpus Cove. Yes, there is unexplained things I have seen over the passed 62 years. I plan on a little later setting up a youtube channel and share some of this tale. 😃
The title alone made for a good story. Its great advice. Dont visit and never move here. Just go to the beach or something. Leave us alone with our creatures.
Ditto. The real dangers are getting lost or running into the wrong person. National parks draw psychopaths, and most of the remainder don't care for outsiders. And many of us are armed here in this stand-your-ground state. Lastly, tourists smell especially bad to bears, boars, rattlesnakes, etc. That should be plenty of reason to have your vacation elsewhere. Go glamping in your back yard; beaches don't need the extra people either.
I live on the coast of NC. Every Fall, we like to stay in The Smoky Mountains. I love living near the ocean, but the mountains…😌 God, do I LOVE the mountains! 🤎🏔️
My friends and I used to go 4wheeling in bumps cove all the time. The California fields are beautiful. It's a very scenic drive. It's also a bear reserve
I live in southwest Virginia, about an hour east of Bristol, TN. There are definitely things and occurrences in these woods that most people would never believe.
Live near there . Jonesborough Tennessee about 6 miles maybe. Watch that stop sign on the way out to enter Highway 81 it easy to miss experienced that 1st hand 1978 winter slide straight through it. Lucky no one in the way.
I was "off to see the wizard" on the T.ennesee V.ertcal D.ivide. Mountain Phase early 2000's. Good Times, Blue Berry Pancakes, and "No, I wasn't sleepin' Sergeant...".
I live in TN…Washington Co…between Unicoi Co and Sullivan/ Hawkins Co. We definitely have some spooky mountains and even more scarier stories about them.
Word to the wise, if you're planning on hiking the AT always carry at least one firearm and a large fixed blade knife with you regardless of local regulations bc they may save your life one day! My friends and I have been hiking the AT for the past 25+ years. We usually go every couple years and for years they made fun of me bc I always refused to go hiking or camping without my pistols. That was until about 8 years ago when my "dumb overly prepared gung-ho ass" and my Glocks saved our lives somewhere around the Virginia Tennessee border. Since those 4 days and nights all 3 now concealed carry whenever they're out hiking or camping.
I live in TN…Washington Co…between Unicoi Co and Sullivan/ Hawkins Co. We definitely have some spooky mountains and even more scarier stories about them. Have been to Bumpass Cove several times and it is one scary place. It’s about 25 mins from me. It’s been yrs since I’ve been there but my younger yrs we were there many times…party place. Did you go to David Crockett High School as well? It’s been about 30-33 yrs since I’ve been there. We prob know each other lol.
I haven't left a comment in awhile and thought I should leave one today to thank you CGS for your dedication, time and effort!🤗💜🕷 Also, has anyone heard from Sexy Grandma Darkness? I haven't seen a comment from her in quite awhile.🙁
I always look for her comments, she seems so awesome. I haven't seen any in a little bit. But I miss some of the stories 4 a bit sometimes, so hopefully everything is ok with!!
@Heather-fk5wq thank you for responding! I haven't seen a comment from her in quite a while. I'll check other channels that I've communicated with her on.😊
You don't have to worry about me CGS. I have been watching your channel long enough to know not to go within 500 miles of the Appalachians. I'm just fine right here on the couch with my phone.
When I was a kid, I would have some of the most vivid dreams when my temperature would get high. I could tell you today what they were, where I i was and even the colors of the clothes, furniture, curtains or shoes in that dream. I had the same dream 4 times, the last time I was in my early 20s. I think you can have very vivid dreams and honestly feel as if you were there. I was also terribly afraid of the dark and saw things if the light went out. Little goblins. I swore they were there. Great imagination, scary childhood. You can see things awake or asleep that are real to you but not to the rest of the world, depending on your state of mind. Thanks for another great story.
Im in milwaukee, seen the video and wondering why the headlines don't say Ohio officers save Black man from another Black man charging at him with 2 knives. Smh
Where you went wrong, was going anywhere called "California". There's really good reasons so many are fleeing from California. Hello from San Diego California. It use to be nice, here.. p.s. sounds like you met my grandmother.
I live in TN. Used to vacation, camp, fish, hunt and spend time at SMKW pretty regular. The owner of PepperPalace Craig Migawa is a close friend. Gatlinburg was beautiful before the big fire years back. The scariest thing I've found is "A gem" of a landlord or two, but they were from elsewhere😂

Me and you both , brother.

Dude, you always take the best stories to narrate! Awesome story!
Great story! Tales like these, fiction or not, are the reason I stay tf away from the woods.
Oh yeah great story love your channel. This area has lots of Creepy stuff going on and that's in the daylight.

Ahh a nice tale from home. Great work Brett

Well? What happened?! You can't just leave people hanging like that!. 😕
I live in TN and my gun and dog possibly saved my life. Never go in the woods of Tn w out at least a shotgun or at minimum a good handgun.
I like how he calls it Bumpus Cove at around 2 minutes. Then calls it Bumpus Grove about minutes after.
I've hiked the Appalachian trail before. It's cool out there

I live in Georgia
The biggest threat in a remote area for me is other humans. And I used to live near these mountains in Northern Georgia! 🍑 🍑 🍑 🍑
yep. I've lived there for a while when I was younger and wandered the woods for ages. That was the exact reason I carried a rifle and a machete
I'm not planning a trip to the US anytime soon.. 😅
I cannot blame you
