They go to an agency and basically buy a dog, but for some reason "adoption" evidently just sounds better. It's always, I rescued or adopted. One time in college my best friend came to visit my husband and I and brought her boyfriend (whom I had never met) on the trip. I cooked for everyone and we were having small talk during dinner. I shared that I was born in Haiti and he very proudly said, “Oh cool!
