    Thanks for explaining Guilford Rail, I saw the engine going from Nashua to Wilton NH and that is some roooough track(CSX is going to be pissed when they inspect it). I knew of PanAm Railway, drove by their yard in Concord, but not that surprised CSX snapped them up. Also thanks for the heads up about Montreal, always wanted to go, but driving through border checkpoints can be a pain. Thanks for a great vid.

    "Pan Am Railroad, it's the slowest motherf*king railroad in the system, Here we got an Approach Medium. Now Im wondering, I guess normal speed on the Pan Am is about... 6 MPH, This must mean slow down to 3 MPH at the next interlocking. I've never seen a f*king operating like this in my f*king life!" -Rodney Kantorski

    I found it ironic that Pan Am had a railroad and a building with their name(now the MetLife Building) that seats nearby Grand Central Terminal. The most hated building here NY.
    I highly recommend reading The Power Broker by Robert Caro. The book explains why Robert Moses is a hated figured in here NY.

    Now you're talking about my neighborhood railroad! Those trains go past my house all the time, along with the Downeaster and the purple trains. Which is another reason why the absence of the north-south rail link frustrates me--it'd be nice if the Amtrak service here wasn't just a disconnected branch that goes no further south than Boston. Or if you could at least get to South Station by commuter rail.

    • @Thom-TRA
      @Thom-TRA  2 года назад +1

      I love the Downeaster, it was one if my favorite Amtrak trains I’ve been on. Love the area in general, you live in a nice place!

    • @Thom-TRA

      Also, they should have definitely included the NS rail line in the Big Dig. It would have made an RER style network possible.

    • @MattMcIrvin
      @MattMcIrvin 2 года назад

      @@Thom-TRA I admit I've never actually ridden the Downeaster, since if we want to go to Portland, Maine, for us it's competing with driving, which is significantly faster and not too big a hassle. If I still lived car-free in the city it would be the best way to go. And it does avoid the traffic jam on summer weekends from all the people going to the beaches.

      Not just that, but they purchased the D&H to give them better access to Conrail for the expected buyout of Conrail. They had controlling interests in SP and N&W and planned to make a transcontinental railroad, once the Conrail deal fell through, the D&H was not needed.

      @Trains Are Awesome Also, all that money billionaires have could've been used to improve transportation, education, healthcare, as well as helping people in 3rd world countries and helping them from being oppressed, but no they had to be selfish Ignorant people who only care about themselves and don't care about others and what even worse is that they can get their wealth from some of the most cruel and inhumane ways ever thought of. They need to be stripped from their wealth since they don't deserve that wealth, but this would probably never happen due to conservative and corporate politicians like Trump and as a Muslim Pakistani who was born in Chicago. My parents came from a poorer society to get more opportunities in the USA to make a better life, and they went through a lot of struggles to even become middle class citizens, but in the end they still succeed.
