Great video......... BUT.... The math is off by a lot..... but thats a really good thing ....
The profit margin is more like 1000%!!!
Cost 92 cents
Sold for 9.20
= 1000 percent profit.
Even if sold at $1.84 would be 100% profit.

I think we might be talking about two different things. We're just showing what % of the total price is profit. What we put together is very simplistic as there will obviously be more costs you'd want to include. It was enough for illustration purposes though to show how profitable keychains can be. The calculation we used was:
Profit Margin % = ((Total Revenue - Cost of Goods Sold)/Total Revenue)*100

If you made 100 of the stainless tags on a CO2 laser, what would the cost per tag be since you're using the expensive spray?

We don't have a sqr/inch cost, but I'd guess this would add very little to your per unit cost if you butted them all up together and sprayed them all at once. There are also other sprays that are cheaper, and I believe you can buy this spray material in bulk even cheaper and use it in your own sprayer if you were running stuff like this all the time.

Just a question that come to my mind when I look several of your videos. What are your settings or how did you clean your acrylic items after engraving to remove the smoke blur?

If you're just marking acrylic, you don't have to engrave too deep. If you just barely etch it, you can avoid that "blur". Having good air assist and exhaust are always important too. If you have to go deep on the engraving, then we'd recommend masking the part first, if it doesn't already have a paper mask on it from the factory.

Great idea and I've copied/pasted all the Amazon items to a text document for reference later. You mentioned custom jobs. I'm assuming you aren't doing the engraving at a craft fair because of the public being around the laser light and you wouldn't have a safe way to exhaust any smoke/fumes. How do you get the custom jobs?

So there’s no electricity costs in your breakdown of profit? Is this free to run your laser? Very misleading!

This was supposed to be a side-by-side comparison showing different type of keychains and the amount of margin they have. So no, there isn't an electricity cost in the breakdown. Not only is this a more difficult cost to include, the amount per unit would be so small as to be almost negligible. The laser we ran these on probably draws different power than yours, and I'd bet you don't have the same power bill depending on where you live. We've already determined what OUR profit margins need to be on our products to cover things like overhead costs - which is where costs like utilities and rent live. Speaking of rent, many of you are running lasers out of your garage, unlike us. Should we include our rent too when you wouldn't? That was a pretty crappy comment to make.
