What doesn't kill you
Makes you wish you were dead
Got a hole in my soul growing deeper and deeper
And I can't take
One more moment of this silence
The loneliness is haunting me
And the weight of the worlds getting harder to hold up
It comes in waves
I close my eyes
Hold my breath
And let it bury me
I'm not alright
And it's not ok
Won't you drag the lake
And bring me home again
Who will fix me now?
Dive in when I'm down?
Save me from myself,
Don't let me drown
Who will make me fight?
Drag me out alive?
Save me from myself,
Don't let me drown
What doesn't destroy you
Leaves you broken instead.
You know that I can't do this on my own.
Directed by Jacob Printzlau. Production company: The Wœrks.
Music video by Bring Me The Horizon performing Drown. (P) 2014 Sony Music Entertainment UK Limited - Видеоклипы
"who will fix me now? "
5 years later and the answer was myself. I did it.
if only everyone as strong as you
congratz! :) Thats a good story!
Like wage war says in low
"who will safe me, when I can't save myself?"
I’m so incredibly proud of you. This was my crying song when life was shit but I know one day I would come back to it again and be able to connect to it in a different way. I haven’t watched or heard this song in almost a year or so and this your comment made me incredibly happy. I too can finally relate to it just like you. I’m so proud of you.
@@sophiajane6377 I'm so so incredibly proud of you too. You've gotten this far, continue staying strong
Artists get no where if they stupidly decide to keep making the same music for 9 years straight just to please a couple pissy people who don't like change. Not a fan anymore? Well you'll just be replaced by a new one. No matter how appreciative they are, how amazing they are, bands always change. And if the music is good, they will just keep gaining fans, even if all the old ones leave. So suck it up and don't disrespect a band you used to like by leaving rude comments like "you suck now." That's lame.
Candifloss i applaud you i just do not understand why you would like a band but then tell them "they suck" applauds are given.
Candifloss Well they've always sucked so it doesn't really matter
Candifloss AC/DC has been making the same music over 40 years. They are still the best hard rock band ever. And it's only one example of thousands.
Candifloss Fuking true. All the bands change! No matter what.
Candifloss One left, and I'm a new fan. WOO. Thanks for leaving. ^_^
Turning 31 this year, and both my parents are no longer with me, I lost my dad in 2013 and my mom in 2022. I get depressed at times and have anxiety attacks from the fear of how I’ll go through life without my parents. I come back to this song to help me through my lowest mental points and it helps me push through. Appreciate the time you have with your loved ones, and love one another. ✌🏽
Stay strong, brotha. Embrace the adversity as this is our own personal "Heroes Journey". Your parents are gonna be proud of the man you're becoming. Much love, man
Coming from someone who has experienced great loss in my life. Stay strong and eventually you'll become the person your parents couldn't even dream of you becoming.
Man, this comment really moved me. I never comment on youtube, but here we go. I'm 35 now and lost my mother without any warning in 2014 and my dad took his life in 2020 at the heigt of the damn covid catastrophe and the uncertain future that came with it. I feel horribly lonely at times. Asking myself how the hell I "should do this on my own", as the lyrics of the song go. It's hard when you have nobody to call to ask a few questions about "adult life", that you feel you have no answer to. Stay strong brother. We're young and I'm sure we still got the best ahead of us! And yes, appreciate the time you have with your loved ones, everybody!
dont worry bro you can
Turned 26 last Oct and lost both parents in 2021. Mother in Feb and father in Sept. Same month as the others birthdays. Its been an insanely weird feeling you cant describe and that fear and anxiety is very real. I feel that too many times. Its amazing how much we realize how much our loved ones mean to us when theyre gone and theres still so much to experience with them you feel and so much life to live and lessons to learn from them. Youre not alone man and Im someone that can actually say that and mean it being still young and without either of my parents
The "Sorry! Exorcism in progress, please stand by" had me laughing too hard x'))
With the elevator music version of Drown
I want a full version of the elevator music

it's killing me how much people are putting down bring me the horizon for their changes. I saw them live on the Parks and Devastation tour and Oliver Sykes literally explained that he was in rehab and dealt with an enormous struggle with addiction. When he finally got out he came to the decision that he doesn't want to scream anymore, he wants to sing. And that to me is beautiful, it takes a lot to make a huge decision like that especially where they are now. Knowing that people won't like the change, but his intentions are good and he's not doing to follow a trend or anything, he's doing to for himself. I love it.
I'm glad some understands you're a amazing person

Accurate
This turns 10 years old this year and the lyrics still hit as hard as they did when it dropped. Just another reason BMTH is one of the best artists in the industry
9 years and I still find myself back here every single time I hit rock bottom
Hey. I hope you got this. You will be okay, and you will be better than before.
Me too. It seems life fck me everyday
Oh what a surprise people complaining. I swear the metal community are by far some of the worst complainers i've ever seen. Do you order the same thing every time you go to a restaurant? no you don't because that's boring, do bands make the same music every album, no they don't because that's boring. If you don't like it listen to work by them or listen to something by someone else you like, (doesn't take a scientist to figure that one out) It's different, change isn't bad. Unbunch your panties and move along.
I order the same thing, I know what I like. I enjoy familiarity. However, I appreciate this new direction.
lol unbunch your panties.that line is priceless. but i agree
When I order a steak, I expect a steak. Not frozen meatloaf. People didn't become fans of BMTH 10 years ago because they wanted to listen to pop music. Mixing up your sound and structure is a good thing. Seeing the money in an entirely different genre and doing a complete fucking 180, however, is not.
>METAL community
Pls, this is not really metal. It's hardcore.

Alright you lot! The new record’s out Friday and we’ve just release a new edit of Drown on iTunes. Originally “Drown” wasn’t meant to be on the record but after we released it, it seemed to resonate so much with a lot of our fans and new fans alike. We felt like it needed its own place rather than being sandwiched between two albums. Hope you enjoy - Oli

Oliver has been screaming for so many years, guys. You can't scream for your whole life, unfortunately. Sure you can prolong it if you're careful, but it's just easier to sing cleans after years of touring and performing. I think it sounds great! Has a great vibe to it.
And how do you explain Cannibal Corpse? George have scream since 80's and still screaming and growling like a beast, and you think Oliver cant scream anymore? pff there are many bands that have screamed before Oliver Sykes born and they still screaming
Federico Lopez Uribe Cannibal Corpse's screams are done right and don't shred your vocal chords after a few years. BMTH on the other hand.
mate look at corey taylor he has been screaming for many years and still not lost it!
Oli had surgery on his vocal cords a few years ago. He's not physically able to scream like he did in suicide season. Pulse, he said it himself that he doesn't want to scream as much anymore.
Chester Bennington from Linkin Park has been able to keep the screaming on longer (1999-2010, not counting most of MTM and ATS), and same goes for all the bands/rock stars mentioned in the previous comments
Instant goosebumps. I’m sure we’ve all felt this at some point, and I know BMTH has been my therapy for a long ass time. This song is beautiful. You can hear Oli’s pain.

I forgot this could make a grown man want to cry his soul out. Then I saw it live in Knotfest last week.
I just saw them at "When we were young" festival. Wait until your "emo phase" was 25 yrs ago. Then its called nostalgia. Even BMTH has been around 15 yrs. If you think the years go by fast now wait. the older you get the faster they go and these songs will be your memory holders of times you forgot forever.

This song hits hard when you're going through depression.
yes
I just realized why the drummer attacks the keyboardist.
It could be either out of fun, giving that his surname is "Fish" (lol) Or may have a deeper meaning.
After Sempiternal, the band decided to leave that "aggressive" sound that marked their first albums.
So, becoming a werewolf, that "aggressive side" once sealed is out again, and he attacks the keyboardist because he's the new member that also had a key role in the band's transition into a "softer" sound.
But, again, that side is being exorcized in the next scene, as if the band is saying something like "we have enough of this, just accept the fact we've changed".
Anyway, I love the direction they took. This kind of music is really good, and it's amazing to see that good music is so widespread, compared to all that mainstream shit out there.
But I also liked old BMTH. They were different, but both were good. The end.
No. He attacked Jordan because he became a Werewolf. The end.

Am I the only one whos wondering why the FUCK are they performing an exorcism on a werewolf.
Psychotic Zoe Because exorcisms are stupid.
That doesn't answer my question .-. but thank you for your input. Exorcisms are used to cast out demons from someone who has been possessed. A werewolf is a creature, only something you can turn into after being bitten, so it is still you. Therefore exorcisms would be useless in their case. Duff The duff
Haha, Ikr?
Psychotic Zoe I see the werewolf more like a metaphor for something you can't control. Like anger, self-consciousness, anxiety for example. The reason for the exorcism is to exorcise personal demons. That's what I got from it
Psychotic Zoe because #Logic

Can I just say, my friend died of an overdose about 2 years ago. She loved BMTH. We had the same band shirt and everything. This, along with other songs, kept me from relapsing myself, and kept me sane.
I still cry hearing this song. This still keeps me going. I'm glad they made this along with other songs that help so many people like me who were and are struggling.
So sorry to hear about your friend, stay strong!
i was gonna comment again but then saw I left this last month. Song is still getting me through, now more than ever as my friend's birthday gets ready to pass in a few days. I'm in a dark spot in my life, and this song keeps me going.
Thank you both for your comments
for all of you wondering if the reason oli doesnt scream like he used to in these newer songs is because he destroyed his voice, he diddnt. When he gave his acceptance speech for the award thing he stated that after coming off drugs and getting out of rehab, he diddnt want to scream anymore, he wanted to sing.
Really
Cracken! Minecraft and Stuffz. Dude are you saying that Oli can't sing? Are you kidding me?
Cracken! Minecraft and Stuffz. You do realize that the grit in his voice is inserted as a technique yes? It's to add that little kick of emotion to it? He doesn't HAVE to be gritty in his high notes, it just sounds amazing and is EXTREMELY hard to do consistently.
his voice is ruined if you go to a bmth show and hear them play an old song oli cant scream like he used to. when he tries its super pitchy. :(
Shelbi surgery i rather hear him sing their new stuff, their old stuff was garbage

This song became a part of my life. I've been listening this for years now and everytime I played it, I'm bursting with tears. The darkness inside me, I know this is a battle between myself.
You're not alone with darkness
This song is more relevant in 2022 than ever before for me. BMTH never stops molding you
They never stop. Each album they've released, i'm always at a new stage in my life, it's like when I change, they change and keep me going through the years.
I love the song. Honestly I really don't care if Oli screams or not. The most important thing for me is the quality and meaning of their lyrics. Bmth always touches me with their music. One thing that hasn't changed is their lyrics and how it really relates to me. So I think this so is absolutely amazing.
The lyrics oli comes up with are so poetic and relatable , he has a way with words you know , I honestly like the change in style of this song its very relaxing . Bring me the horizon is a one of a kind band that can't compare to any other ,. They're amazing
great lyrics.... such a poet...She starts her new diet, of liquor and dick,
Just like Hollywood, but laced in sick.
The sun goes down, and so does she.
Can You Believe That Guy? I find the line "the sun goes down, and so does she" to be fairly poetic haha. Even Tell Slater Not To Wash His Dick has some strong lines even if there are some strange tenses.
"You say, you say, I'm only a phone call away.
But for me, this distance is decay.
So line my throat with lipstick and leave my blood for flies.
Ill gurgle the blues under a sea of lies."
I see the same BMTH, they're just like they were many years ago. Different genre, same heart.
Antonio Castillo well said man
I'm so sick of people crying because their favorite band experiments with new stuff and don't want to write the same albums over and over again..
I think trying to experiment with new things is exactly what makes an album unique and makes you listening to it for years rather than forgetting it.
Amazing tune, really looking forward to the new album :)

I love the symbolism in the video that represents mental health, people having slight things but not making a huge deal out of it, and pulling themselves together again, like the eyes and invisible hand, but then every now and again someone can't cope and bursts out and makes it obvious to everyone, but can be helped
Yangy Productions the song is honestly true because some people build a wall around them selves to stay safe from the world and they only let certain people in the wall they built to keep em safe and the part " who will fix me now, dive in when I'm down, save me from myself, don't let me drown" is actually a true verse in the song because everyone has that one person that helps them, takes care of them, truly loves them, and will do anything for them.... I know I do #my bae forever and always Eddie
Well ill have to disagree with you a little. I dont know anything about the meaning of the lyrics or related to song anyway. As a long time depression patient i can totally understand people who build their walls around them. The sad truth seems to be that those who need friends and family most are never gonna get them, people who experience pain and suffering from their own train of thought shall keep those who love them in a distance 'cause they feel having problems and introducing them to the public is a weakness which leads to even more suffering and problems when they cannot talk it through with anyone. And thats what i call the true darkness. Dont judge book by its cover could be an excellent phrase to stop this jibberish :D
gosh, I never thought of that, but it should have been actually very obvious for me, cause my ex-best-friend had depressions and I didn't have them too but I was totally NOT OK.
I always felt like it's me who has got to wake her up one day and make all her problems 'suddenly' disappear....
But in the end, she changed the school and didn't want to have any contacts with people she knew before (me too)
I just wanted to say, that you're right but if that person doesn't realise that he/she is going to break their friends too, it is worse for them.
+Tero Merkkiniemi .
Middle Earth No offense, but you can't wake up someone out of depression. It's literally a mental disability. LEGIT depressed people (such as myself) have a brain that doesn't produce the right chemicals to make you have a healthy continual rotation of emotion. Only medical attention such as medicine, psychologists/psychiatrists as well as a VERY strong support system can help. It's a heavy burden on the afflicted and on those associated with the afflicted. But honestly, no one who doesn't have Depression will EVER understand. That's something they need to figure out

Am I seriously the only bmth fan who loves their "old" style like count your blessing BUT also likes their "new" style like sempiternal and drown? Well okay then... :']
I love almost all their music but to me sempiternal is the best. Even though it isn't as heavy as their old music, lyrically it's very powerful and deep and with bmth, they can be very heavy with being heavy at all, like this song.
Same homie
I lov all their music tbh
YEEEEES
I love all Bmth music :D
Esta canción es una obra de arte, la letra y la voz de oli transmiten un sentimiento indestructible. Aunque a partir de este álbum cambiaron el estilo, bmth supo mantener la calidad (aunque tampoco es como si TTS sea tan suave).
I close my eyes. I'm there again. That was weird part of my life, but I will never forget it. Listen to their songs then and now is... Something else. Especially this one. So nostalgic
"People say heavy music is guitars and screaming, but to me, heavy music is what hits you hard in the heart"
I'm not even sure if that's exactly it but yes.
Not exactly, this is too mainstream to be heavy metal. Sempiternal was very good, this... i don't know.

Funny how this song used to move me when I was a teenager, but now it doesn't make sense anymore, since I had to learn to be self-sufficient, I only need myself. I learned to find comfort and peace in solitude, and I like it.
I remember hearing this for the first time in 2014 when I was 15. I waited all night for it to come out. I Grew up loving this band from 2012 to now, and I only ever saw them on my phone screen. 10/18/22, that desire to see them became a reality. I was at barricade, got to hold Olis hands, and I cried the whole night from pure joy. It still doesn’t feel real man.

2. The idiots who trash on their newer stuff and say this is "too soft"
3. The idiots who contradict themselves way too much by saying stuff like "they're a band, they can do whatever they want, but I'm not liking this new style"
Let me make this clear
1. BMTH were a *different genre* when they made Count Your Blessings and Suicide Season, everything after that has been melodic hardcore or something like that, not deathcore, you can't expect them to stick to their old style if they're not even in that genre anymore
2. Just because this song's softer than their Sempiternal stuff doesn't mean its rubbish, it's still lyrically one of the best songs they've ever made, and if all you care about is how it sounds, I'm sorry, you need to be listening to stuff like Justin Bieber and One Direction, not Bring Me The Horizon
3. No band has stuck with the style they started off with, people grow up, and naturally probably ditch their old styles because they're either bored of it or they can't do it anymore because they've finally gotten over the crazy drugs they used to do at that time
There are plenty of bands that never changed their style actually
Good point
While you make a few good points about certain things, I personally don't like this song and not because they aren't "heavy" anymore but because I believe they've lost their personal style. This just sounds more and more like music that's already been released for years.
Their last album was actually my favourite of all of them due to how new and fresh it was but this is just sounding too much like other bands, that's my beef with it.
I see
Well at least you aren't trashing their older stuff lol
Every comment I've been seeing has either been trashing on their older stuff or trashing on their newer stuff
Honestly, as fans, should we really give a crap that they've changed their style
I for one don't
Adrick Mcleod actually with sempiternal they said that they found the sound they wanted, this is just one song ( and pretty damn good one!) From their latest release, and Im sure that this will be the sound of the band... btw i really like how they try to find new kind of sounds, and I think that this doesnt mean they sound like everyone, it means that they are more unique kind of band who has multiple kind of sound (or genre if you want to call it that way)

I love how this comment has 400+ likes. So many are still listening to this kind of genre and it makes me happy. Sadly, I was born late so technically, this genre is not my generation (I was born 2005) and I can never be emo too but still, I’m proud of myself for having a good taste on music :))

You're still here, so you didn't lose your fight with your demons. Hang in there. They may kick your @$$, but you're still winning.
Right there with you...
Same here. Been fighting addiction since 14 and overdosed twice and was legally dead. I used to cry my eyes out drunk and on pills listening to this. Now it's a reminder to keep pushing no matter what.

"Who will fix me now"
7 years later, I still don't know the answer to that question.
Go through the comments this guy put it in a very simple but right way its yourself

It's going to be really fucking difficult but the reality is only we can fix ourselves. Now that doesn't mean no one can help you, but they're just that, help and moral support. You're the solution.
The answer is god. If you watch the video agin you'll see that in the end he doesn't save himself god does.
@@a_glitch_in_the_matrix4785 well you have to save yourself by going towards God and not waiting for things to happen by themselves
Only an artist knows the answer of change,if you do music, you need to keep an evolution,if you start in a hardcore/metalcore way, your body starts to need discovering new ways and u need to try new forms of sharing your essence.
If you respect an artist, you must respect his decisions.
Pronto The Liberty estara al mismo nivel que BMTH
Grande Mario :)

I love every evolution of this bands style. This will always be one of my top bands. Oli is amazing
i listen to this song back when i was like 11 or 12 in 2013, last sunday, i was in knotfest chile waiting for mr bungle and when they started playing this all those memories came back, i forgot they had this song... i really enjoyed it in that moment

I was finally able to listen to this song live this month. I was really at the bottom when I was listening to this song on iTunes. But now it has become one of the songs that misses those days when it was at the bottom. I have been saved by this song over and over again. I'm making music now because I want to repay the favor. This music is geared towards the kids anyway. Can't imagine their audiences having many 40 and older people for their live shows. I would bet that over 80% of their fan base is under 30 and most likely more under 20s being the majority of their audience. This pop mix stuff, especially this EDM mix pop is dominating the rock music in the mainstream. You young people can have this stuff because it does nothing for myself and many people that are 40 and older feel the same way. Too much pop in rock and also to much of this pop mix is in country music as well. Give me old school country and old school guitar driven rock music over what is now currently popular with young adults today. The new experimental music that I like from the past 2 decades are music that mixes old school genres together like symphonic metal with bands Nightwish and Epica, celtic metal from Eluveitie, celtic punk from the Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly, raggee mixed with rock and metal like Jinjer does in two of their songs, this traditional Japanese folk music mixed with western styles of music by The Wagakki Band and many other traditional old school music mixed with the traditional rock and metal genres. This electro techno programming dance mixes with rock just makes the music feel fake and these whinny voices in these modern rock bands popular with young adults today doesn't do a damn thing for me either.
@@midnight-2021 fortunately nobody is forcing you to listen to this

Why you gonna ask a stupid ass question? Ofc people listen to it. Just because the year changed doesn’t mean mfs stopped listening to music.
No
I’m still in love with the girl I was with when this song came out. Every time I hear it, it takes my breath away like I got scared of something. Man I miss her.
I feel you, please take care of yourself and don't give up on life
I think the simple fact that BMTH has actually got the same vocalist after all these years is pretty astonishing. Especially these days with bands changing members like underwear.
***** they have a second guitarist he's just not an official member yet !!
daniel cullen if you're talking a out the bigger guy with long hair (not Lee) he's not with them anymore
Naw different dude , was playing with them during this summer leg :)
The* scuse me :)
The band is basically just Oli. He's all people seem to care about, which is mildly annoying.
but seriously, if you want to hear something like count your blessings, go listen to count your blessings.
THANK YOU. Jesus christ.
*****
Because now when they play live they will be playing this shit instead of stuff from "Count Your Blessings"
Edward Spillane-Russo So fucking true i honestly get sad at their shows when they don't play a good amount of their old stuff. Really depressing if you've been a fan of theirs for so long but oh well.
kristian gutierrez That's true but a part of the reason might be simply because it's getting harder for Oli to scream as his voice is getting weaker from doing it for so long which makes it harder to do a lot of old songs.
Same story with Slipknot and IOWA kids. Just fucking grow up idiots.
2:37 i love that break in The song,it gives some sensations so beauty that doesn't use in a Live performance

Ok guys i just want to put this out there.
5SOS and BMTH are two completely different bands. They produce different music and I thank anyone who realizes that should be cared about. I am a big fan of both. JUST CALM DOWN. Honestly speaking here, I've been in the 5sosfam for 2 years and I hate (most of the time) when people (usually fans of the band) just try create drama between bands. I mean, we like what we like, and can't we just all get along? That's my input. Just enjoy the freaking song how hard is it....?
please stop talking about 5sos on here bc it's about bmth, not 5sos
this was like a year ago, go away
+Zoe Clifford Om. I am wearing a 5Sos shirt but listening to this :/
What the hell is 5SOS?
William Tear 5 Seconds of summer
I think this video has a message. At the start there very clean cut, all wearing suits and jackets. The part where Ollie's eyes go all lizardy and shit shows where his true self is trying to come out but he hides it and continues singing as if nothing happened. When Matt becomes possessed is his true crazy self coming out but yet again Ollie ignores it, trying to maintain this clean cut image. After the exorcism it all changes, the jackets are gone, everyone's moshing, the lightings gone. BMTH are back to themselves again. After that the jackets are back and they are clean cut again. This music video is symbolising that even though they are trying a new style, there still the same bunch of hardcore bastards they used to be.
This, right here, is the best thing I've read yet.
This makes so much sense....and it also kind of explains why Oli looks so bored in a lot of the video
plus those preppy fan girls!
there is absolutely no moshing in this video. thats called headbanging

For those of you bashing the song
His last album tells a story
About recovering from his addiction
This song is telling about how he's still fighting
"Don't let me drown"
Is like a cry for help. How his demons try to come back but he's fighting it.
Yes it's not the old Oli but Oli had said he doesn't want to scream he wants to sing because his screams were help from the addiction and now he's telling his story through music. Like it or not it's up to you but remember, and listen, that his music tells a tale of a man who let drugs get to him and now he's letting go, still fighting.
whats he addicted to

The video is so calm and quiet overall. Meanwhile I just imagine that in the studio they were all black absolutely trashing everything while recording.
I used to listen to this and wonder, "Who will save me?" 9 years later, I found out... myself. I'll always save myself.
It's a testament to BMTH that they've managed to create a rock song that's so beautiful and emotional while still being so true to what they are
