I agree! Re-boxing is so much more helpful! Please do more of these! I’d watch them for sure! It’s always tricky putting things back. Unboxing a game is easy. The true puzzle is in how you put it back! :-)
Reboxing these expansions with the original Vindication content was a very different experience. A lot of work but satisfying. It makes my third Kallax cube completely filled with great games I wouldn't have discovered without your recommendations, Alex.
Alex and Devon talked me intro trying out Unsettled... Really liked it... Now Vindication just from the praise... Probably have to late pledge Unsettled to get both!
The missing print was a mistake. They messaged everyone and let us know they are sending new ones at no charge, plus a few promo cards (as an apology) I think.
There's a spot for the solo adventure board in the Leaders/Villagers tray. And the Myths & Wonders board goes on top of the miniatures insert, under the map board.
I got my first games in of Vindication this past week with that and LOVE it. There is a guide video Orange Neb did that helped me pack it up knowing nothing about the contents. Also note - they have a fix pack coming with some missing cards from the expansion and small other tweaks.
Would love to see a run through and review of the new expansions/modules when you get a chance: Chronicles, Villages and Hamlets, Odyssey, and new card packs. Also your preferred tile inclusion/setup inclusive of all modules and expansions. Thanks!
In my opinion, from a sleeving perspective some of the new cards were printed incorrectly (off by 90 degrees). As such they are an owl bear to sleeve. These cards had text in two directions and I sleeved them so that the majority of the text was readable with the open sleeve on top. However, this meant that the botttom of the card was not smooth and would catch on the sleeve while sleeving. Total pain in the behind. That said I felt that the organizer was really great up to about 80% of the height and then you just sort of toss things in. The downside to this is that the things that get tossed in can move around and mangle each other a bit. My combined manual for example arrvived pre-mangled on its back page, I'm assuming as a result of some internal collision. I'm not 100% sure what a resolution would be, other than perhaps some kind of envelope strategy were maybe that cuts down on collision issues. Perhaps even a small accordian thing where you fit the various paperwork into the accordian binder slots... Insert design, an ever evolving technological improvement based upon trial and error. We're still figuring this one out one KS campaign at a time.
Picked up a copy at the FLGS along with the playmat and both new expansion. Just stopped in this morning and there they were in the area for new stuff. Love Vindication and really like Orange Nebula Games. Nice to get a box though wish that they kept the same original box colors. But room for everything except the playmat.
I came for the ramblings on this game (i love it, so much fun), but now i'm highly enjoying this "wtf is going on, how do i do this?!?!" So great :) You rarely appear as lost as you sounded/appeared in this video (at least to the 12 min mark where i'm at). I was lost trying to organize this as well (and i even watched the o-neb video as i did mine)!
Rewatched this as I’m about to begin my first foray into Vindication! I’m curious if you ever tried this game solo? What is your favorite player count for it?
Got mine with everything. Now I just need to play it. It took me about two hours to get it all sorted and sleeved. I do wish the big box had thicker cardboard, feels thin. I have other big boxes that are much thicker.
Exciting! Two questions 1. Did you get tracking ahead of time for this? 2. Did you ever get your campaign trail pledge or did you unback that? Just had my first play of that And…. Did not like it like I thought I would unfortunately
If you watch the Orange Nebula video for the loading of this game, you can see that the other two triangles do have a design on them. You must have an error. Hopefully the update pack will fix this.
I really like this. I've played it a bunch. There's a couple issues like not having enough sleeves and the diagram being not great (which they're remedying in a new pack for free for all backers)
I JUST got my Kickstarter delivery. And no, I couldn't afford the archive of the ancients deluxe box. I could only afford the ultimate green tier pledge.
I backed this also and upgrade to the Archive of the Ancients fully loaded. But I'm not yet sure if I'm going to keep it. I'm mostly a solo gamer and the box size is quite off-putting for me (I'm valuing space more and more as I'm trying not to expand my collection, and needing to sell off games to make space). Not sure if Vindication is worth it when I'd probably mostly play solo.
Alex why in the world did you back the full Archive of the Ancients if you already owned a full copy of the game? You usually aren't so wasteful. I don't know if wasteful is the right word, but I feel like you'd typically just buy the things you need. Also where is your neoprene mat.

The big box is still in the pledge manager for Unsettled on Gamefound. I want it so bad, but it's pretty pricey.

There's a number of mistakes with the archive box. One of the latest Kickstarter updates talks about them all and how ONEB plans to correct them.

Seemed like an average 'opening a new incoming board game' video. Still enjoyable to watch.

Just a heads up. The pictures on the standees should match the picture on the character tile. Also, the symbol of each character is their weapon type.

I should have backed this game, but I was just so unsure if I would like the game. But both you and Tom rank it highly.
