This is why I randomly come to KEXP, for gems like this, count me in as a fan
What amazes me about these young women is that this music seems so effortless and easy, yet if you actually try to play it yourself, you swiftly realize that they're doing things with rhythm and harmony that are way out of the ordinary. Making the difficult sound easy is a sign of musicians that have chops well beyond the ordinary.
So very true, especially the drummer. I have a feeling she's a jazz turned rock drummer.

I'll second what you said. It takes a lot of effort to make it sound so easy. Practice, practice, practice. That separates the novices from the pros. Having such a blend as these four certainly helps too.

Ah, the sweet voices of La Luz. I’m quitting my job and becoming a La Luz groupie. Marian’s smiles cause slow rising, popping hearts above my head.
I started with Mac Demarco because I love that set and here I am an hour and a half later with sixteen new favorite bands.
This is the music I've been waiting my whole life to bring shivers to my spine. Captivating.

I've become a fan of a lot of bands because of KEXP but never as fast as La Laz. One song in and I was buying both albums knowing that I wouldn't be disappointed.

love these girls.. them and warpaint.. something about beautiful girls playing psychedelic music
Warpaint is absolutely my favorite band, and there are some great similarities between these 2 groups besides the obvious ones. One thing that jumps out at me immediately is that both groups have outstanding rhythm sections. For my money Stella and Jenny are maybe the best drums/bass combo out there, but Marian and Lena of La Luz are outstanding in their own right.
You gals are awesome and I love your style, musicianship and vocals. Well done.:)

I’m just now getting intu La La Luz , and I can’t shake the feeling that they’re Hawaii reinterpreted Slayer songs , what tipped me off was the riffs , I can’t determine which ones tho la lolz . Either way I’m here for it !
