Yeah, Evelyn is a bit negative and naggy. She projects a lot when she accuses Nigel of being the negative and stuck up one. It's actually her thats like that. Nigel is pretty self aware, communicative and sensitive. Nigel's a lot more secure about himself. Evelyn is a lot typical Asian who self-censors and checks herself before sharing her thoughts. They complement each other well. Good chemistry.
I mean, I'm new here, but I think that Evelyn is also secure about herself and who she is. Good thing that Nigel is also secure, though. That's why they can work well with each other.

I think also when people hear negative emotions they rush to try to help or fix the problem, when sometimes instead all you need is to talk and be heard.
That's so hard though, how can one listen and not try to help? Of course you're not meant necessarily to help directly, but it's such a burden to the other person to take on knowledge of how much their friend is suffering and that you shouldn't do anything about it.
Body shaming is such an ingrained part of Chinese culture. Here in Singapore, the aunties or uncles WILL comment about your weight ("wa, you fat already leh") or even other physical traits, especially during family gatherings. But anyway, I love this podcast. The friendship between you two reminds me of one of my best friends and myself, so you could say I came for the rice cooker but stayed for the dynamics. Thats is just destroying the ackward silence, that is just making noise so the air keeps on vibrating :D
Its a typically western thing where you hire a therapist to speak to freely. Like you have to pay someone to hear you. Everywhere else, its called having a friend.

Body shaming is part of asian culture, living in Taiwan the shaming is not limit to parents. It's the whole society. BTW love Evelyn's shirt, what's the brand?
You'd never look at me and think I had much in common with the children of Asian immigrants. My parents grew up very poor in Oklahoma during the great depression. My Mom and Dad could hang out with typical Asian parents and complain about our kids. They were appalled when we threw anything away or "wasted" money. My parents also insisted we take advanced math and science classes.

"I know how to draw you * show me a stick figure drawing * " "your arms are the same size as my hanger rod."
you guys have to do an episode in which you switch personalities - Evelyn talks about how her outfit is as hot as hell and Nigel explores complex emotions related to his competing rice cookers!
it’s called “tough love”, not shaming or patronizing. it’s almost like the newer generations became too sensitive. my inner circle bffs will definitely stop me and not afraid of showing tough love
I think it's different tough love and being really incentive. I am plus size and I can tell when someone being nice and someone being rude. Eating disorders, anxiety and depression doesn't stop when people tell you to stop eating icecream etc... if they truly want to help, they should help you seek professional help
Nigel - demo the new small rice cooker please because I am looking for one! I have like 4 already but my fave little one broke because I melted it and I brought it with me all the way from Asia so now obviously I am bereft!! 😭

In Malaysian Chinese culture, shaking leg(s) continuously in the presence of elders is actually considered rude. And elders who do that, are just rude; but juniors would not tell the elders so ...
It’s absolutely not going to alienate me if you just talk about Asian culture. I laugh the whole time and I now know more about rice cookers than I ever would have before! ;and lots of other stuff too!!) I love it. Carry on talking about whatever you want I’m staying 😊🥰
Most of friendship i know around me is like what Nigel describe! like, 'don't eat that sugar' to a fat or diabetic friend - but we do that in joking tone, and then she/he will state either 'oh i forgot' or 'oh just let me, i am in bad mood' and that's enough. I personally don't care about fat, but if some friend is having food restriction for her/his health, i will warn her/him (in moderate way) =D

"the weather report says today's windy, you need to stay at home else you're gonna blown away."
"I know how to draw you * show me a stick figure drawing * "
"your arms are the same size as my hanger rod."
I’ve never heard of shoe trees before and ended up google it... in my mind I thought it’s like a coat hanger for shoes, but no... not like I imagined
This podcast is awesome 😂
you guys have to do an episode in which you switch personalities - Evelyn talks about how her outfit is as hot as hell and Nigel explores complex emotions related to his competing rice cookers!
it’s called “tough love”, not shaming or patronizing. it’s almost like the newer generations became too sensitive. my inner circle bffs will definitely stop me and not afraid of showing tough love
I think it's different tough love and being really incentive. I am plus size and I can tell when someone being nice and someone being rude. Eating disorders, anxiety and depression doesn't stop when people tell you to stop eating icecream etc... if they truly want to help, they should help you seek professional help
Im glad uve got a new upload!! Have a great day!
Very nice outfit Evelyn!
Nigel - demo the new small rice cooker please because I am looking for one! I have like 4 already but my fave little one broke because I melted it and I brought it with me all the way from Asia so now obviously I am bereft!! 😭
We watch it for the fun and the random discussions and the Cat in the back which keeps waving for attention 🤣🤣... For Nigel "9 Condoms" Ng and Evelyn "Alone in an Upgraded Suite" Mok 😂😂😂
“She’s just self destructive, but that’s ok” 😂🤣💀⚰️⚱️I’m T1D, I know this pain 🖤
Oh yeah, being a chubby Asian kid in a white world back in the 70's...when I figured out I could lose weight by stopping my diabetic pills, that was a blessing and a curse
Why so fast fuiyoooh "Asian Starter Pack" okay. wkwk
I love listening to Nigel and Evelyn working Off each other ✌️ oh and Nigel Nice Package by the way 😂😂😂😎
As a white person my favourite part of the podcast is when you make fun of white culture. It's hilarious.
Loving Evelyn's blouse!
Memento mori me too
Is that an asian thing? :D My girlfriend is from Taiwan and hates it when I do that leg shaking :D Feels like my mom is scolding me :)
I guess it is. All the adults in my life does that 🤣🤣
@@irenechong7275 🤣🤣
In Malaysian Chinese culture, shaking leg(s) continuously in the presence of elders is actually considered rude. And elders who do that, are just rude; but juniors would not tell the elders so ...
It’s absolutely not going to alienate me if you just talk about Asian culture. I laugh the whole time and I now know more about rice cookers than I ever would have before! ;and lots of other stuff too!!) I love it. Carry on talking about whatever you want I’m staying 😊🥰
I'm really like watching you two doing podcast together. So funny.
Wow I’m pretty early, lunch time, waiting for my biryani rice to come
@@randomlivestreams5900 of course No 😂 what kind of lunatic eat biryani with naan?
@@randomlivestreams5900 now I’m curious... I’ll check it later
Pierogies and schnitzel, the peak of white culture 😂😂 I'm quite new to the podcast and I'm not Asian, but I've greatly enjoyed learning about Asian culture and you both are amazing comedians! I hope you make it to Finland sometime so I can see your comedy live ❤❤
Heyah is what they shout before they invade your village... LmAo 🤣 🤣
