btw the graduation system is started by onyanko club back in the 80s, morning musume indeed the start of new era for japanese idol culture after the 80s golden era, in the 60+ years of japanese idol culture history the forming of morning musume is definitely one of the most important part of it, and their songs is just fun!, fun to sing, fun to listen too
One Morning Musume member I liked was Riho Sayashi, who was with the group from 2011 to 2015. In 2019, Riho Sayashi became a touring member of Babymetal, along with Kano Fujihira and Momoko Okazaki.
Fun Fact about MM: Over the past 27+ years MM has existed, every single girl that has been in MM has had the honor of having a #1 single on the Oricon charts. My MM Story: I've been a fan from the very beginning of ASAYAN show. I used to listen to Sharam Q back then and I liked the idea of them trying to add a female member. I saw ASAYAN my first time when I was visiting my girlfriend's home. As I didn't speak any Japanese at the time, so my girlfriend would tell what was going happening. When Michiyo was selected I thought the show ASA~ had run it's course so I stopped watching it. During one of Japan's typhoons, we were confined to our barracks and at that time there was only one american tv channel provided to us, in the barrack's recreation room. I was getting bored of watching it so I went back to my room and turned my tv to a japanese channel. Low and beyond ASAYAN was still going and MM was hard at work selling thier demo. I thought the show had run it's coarse so I was surprised to see it still going. To make a long story short here. I've been a fan of MM since thier inception. I follow MM and all her sister groups. I love them all but MM will always be my OG.
I discovered MM about 5 years ago after a clip of Kamei Eri trying to speak English on their variety show randomly popped up on my recommendations. That sent me down a rabbit hole, and I have since become somewhat of a fan despite not really caring about idols before. There's far too much to fit into a single video, so I would like to see more Morning Musume and Hello Project vids. A video on Kago Ai, her issues, and how she was treated after could be a good video.
congrats on your first sponsor ! i love seeing ur growth ! and please more morning musume videos ! i would also love for you to cover overseas idols! that would be intresting !
Morning Musume and the rest of Hello! project is very interesting to me so much lore behind it. You should make more Hello Project videos surrounding it.
I'd like more videos on MoMusu. Maybe highlighting specific eras, or even specific members. Some of them could easily make for an entire episode (talking about the likes of Sayumin, Riho and Marippe).
They're one of the very few Jpop idol groups that has an actual talent, they can actually sing and dance in sync and no oversaturation of members unlike 48G
Like what 6th Gen Kamei Eri said, Morning Musume is Eternal love, their music gets to people no matter their age, the way they present themselves, the hard work they put in is all being shown during their lives. Have been a fan ever since the 6th gen, up till now. Each member no matter how good, or bad their singing, has something to contribute to Morning Musume, that is what makes them special. Even with the rise of AKB, they still managed to keep true to their performance and still getting new fans for those that have happend to chance upon their live performance. To me, they have saved me during my lowest period when i happen to chance upon their music when i was in high school. I'd say even i do not have an Oshi any more after Ishida's graduation, i'll continue to support them and watch over them. Thank you for letting people know about them!
Yessss I've loved them for over a decade now. They were one of my entry idol groups back when I was just discovering the world of Japanese idols and pop artists. I even bought a lot of their cds and merch. They'll always have a special place in my heart. And Morning Coffee will always be one of my all time favorite songs. I'd love for you to make more videos on them and maybe other Hello Project groups.
ngl... getting their stuff back in high school outside japan was suuuuuuuuuuuuper hard... but that doesnt stop me from getting their mercs and cds huhuhuhuh
Thank you for covering Momusu! I've been a fan of theirs for about 15 years around when Kimagure Princess released! I was immediately in love with the song and the group as a whole! I saw the end of the Platinum era and saw the Colorful era grow and improve! Now most of those members are now pursuing a new dream! 💕💕 I hope other people who never knew them enjoy their work! 💕
I'm so glad I came across this video to know more about Morning Musume which is the only Japanese pop girl group that I follow. Naichau Kamo is the song that introduced me to them and I'm still enjoying the journey when I listen to their songs from different era.
Please make more Morning Musume vids! I used to love them, but I didn't really know how to get info on them back then. I think I was a fan in the platinum era? But it might have been the colorful era. I want to know so much more! Thank you for making this video
SEXY BEAM!!!!!!! I've always wanted to know more about Momosu, unfortunately I can only learn about them through the wiki pages, 'ALL SINGLES by era videos', and eng-subbed variety shows that are often taken down so I'll say... More Morning Musume videos, please! I would love to see in-depth videos about their different eras, generations, and members, but I understand that could take time and money. By the way, Onyanko Club was the one to have found the 'Graduation System,' but Momosu did popularize it! Golden Era and the first 4 Generations (mostly THE 4th Generation) are favorites- I'm not fond of the 5th but that's because I don't really know them as well? Anyway, thanks for the videos!
I’m a fan during the late platinum era around 2010. Eri, Reina and Ai are my favorite. They still doing good today and Oda Sakura is my oshimen. The cool thing about this group is Tsunku is a massive Beatles fans and you can really see the influences in his early works for the group.
Seeing who looks very much like Soshina at 7:33 completely confused me. I was thinking he must be a robot or something to look hardly any different now than he did in 1997... Hold on though, he would have been 4 years old in 1997... Ah! This footage is from a more recent show looking back at the release of the first single, right? Very interesting to learn about such an influential group. Excellent work. Thank you :)
Dude I remember when I was a foreign exchange student in 2000 and everyone loved goto maki. Now I know why. My host brother had a huge poster of her and I remember him saying “I love her” in broken English when I first went into his room 😅
Ive only gotten into Morning Musume recently listening to their earliest music but there's much I'd like to learn! Shout if you saw their movie Morning Cop: Daite Hold on Me! featuring their (imo) best track in the title Im not really idol groups, but my favourite musician duo would have to be TWO-MIX!
@@handel1111 actually its 2020 ! i was big fan of c-ute and they disbanded in 2017 then koobushi factory happened and became a fan so i kept going cuz i love the girls then kobushi disbanded i lost my interest in the entire company cuz all my fav groups and girls are gone also management change played a role
MORNING MUSUME MENTIONN!!!
Morning Musume used to be a mainstream idol group in their golden years. Their current popularity is not the same anymore compared to those time. When akb48 was climbing in popularity and comparison were made between these 2 groups, at that time fans of akb48 actually referred to Morning Musume as 'the sinking ship'. Imagine that very sinking ship is still cruising till these days, more than 10 years after those comments were made hahaha.. I think the real reason the group still have a moderately large fanbase is because of their high performance level as idols. They always sing live which make their concerts very entertaining. btw the reason the group is able to survive despite at their lowest popularity during the platinum era is partly because they continued to have regular & frequent concert tours. Imagine participate in more than 100 concerts in a year.
I would love a more in depth Morning Musume video! I heard later that some earlier gen members fought a lot and had to be separated. Would bang on the walls yelling at each other...(I think Ayaka Tanihara was one).
Also idk if this was an error or not but you showed a lot of footage of Reina Tanaka when you talked about Ai Takahashi. It might not be a mistake but I noticed in the Bis video too. Great video tho!
Hell yes do more videos. Others have commented about Hello Morning which would be a fun rabbit hole. I personally have always been stuck on the 4th gen Kago and Tsuji, Yossy etc. Minimoni also. Imma stop now.
Yay, Morning Musume! I only really found out about them a bit over a year ago (I've heard a few songs here and there before), but they absolutely became my favorites. For example, I used to listen to what I would've referred to as "a lot" of AKB48 a few years ago... But then Momusu came and completely hooked me. I just find most of their music having a lot more soul and being more fun overall. I think Ougon-ki and Purachina-ki are the best eras, with the Fukumura Mizu-ki being pretty great as well, yet very different. The first era is still really cute, but the colorful-ki is my least favorite, even if it does have some really good songs. I'm just not really into very electronic music. And yes, definitely make more videos about them. :D
Morrning Musume are great. Tsunku is cool too. Hard to follow them nowadays as they don't seem to be on tv anymore, or if they are they never get fan subbed and because of this I listen to their music but don't know the members now. Actually a reverse to when I first got into them as I was more of a fan of their tv work and didn't really listen to their music (lol). Shows like Hello Morning and Haromoni were great and love the ad libbing style of Japanese shows. Not their show but of course their Utaban appearances are legendary. It was Abe Natsumi that got me interested to check them out as I saw them on an Hey Hey Hey episode and not only was she hilarious, she also looked absolutely stunning. My favourites were Yaguchi Mari, Kago Ai, Kamei Eri and Tanaka Reina, however that's not an easy choice as they were all awesome in their own ways and bounced off each other well. Still route for the older gens today in whatever they choose to do (even watched some recent crazy dating show only because Yaguchi co hosted it. lol). You mention about more Morning Musume videos and I think that would be cool... videos on each member... how they became to be a member... what they were/are like... what they are up to nowadays... Of course you may have to put a few members in one video if they have just got married or dissapered from the limelight but videos on members like Yaguchi Mari, Kago Ai, Tsuji Nozomi (< the Minimoni members. lol) would likely be longer so prob could have videos for themselves.
I love your video’s I binge watched them!❤️ I would love it if you did a video of Avu-chan from Queen Bee. She such an interesting and unusual person it would be great to learn more of her.
I absolutely love W but (surprisingly) am not very familiar with Morning Musume, so my interest was piqued when I learned they were former MM members. Interesting video, makes me want to dive into MM even more now. Also, I'm pretty sure Onyanko Club introduced graduations and most of the groundwork that modern idol groups follow.
I’m old so I was already an adult when I first heard of the group. The first memory I have of them was when they appeared on Utaban. I followed them and the rest of Hello Project for years until the 8th generation. At that point I was introduced to 2NE1 and Wonder Girls and I stopped listening to Jpop altogether. I came back to Jpop and Hello Project a few years back and the only Kpop I listen to now is what I hear on the radio. H!P has expanded so much with 7 active groups and while not as popular as the 48 and 46 groups they are superior in every way.
Could you do a video on Major Force - they were were influential for me as a DJ in the UK - yet knew nothing more about them beyond them being from Japan
they are not underrated; they are the biggest GG before akb48 takeover the scene. they fall cause of mismanagement, false pride, marketing to wrong audiences. they even tried to sell lies like saying members only listen to Hello Project music. unlike akb48 which are more relatable to mass people
I'm wondering why you chose such a clickbait title for this video that is actually informative and well researched. It's quite the opposite of underdog to be as popular as Momusu were at the time of Ai no Tane. I have also been recommended your Atarashii Gakko video multiple times, but I have not watched it because frankly the title&thumbnail make it seem so clickbaity and driven by shock value, which I always hate to see as a long term jpop fan. I might give it a shot now that I see you know what you're talking about. Still, I hope you can maybe take this as something to consider. That being said, I'm eager to see what the next Era will be named and everything Momusu still will do. Been following since ~2009.
Im sorry but what is your definition of underdogs? Morning Musume is like an icon to almost all japanese. I dont think underdog is something they can be described with. 😅
Did you watch the video? The underdog part is talking about their origin, not their current status, aka the fact they were formed with members who had lost the audition.
Glad to see this; I have done an reports on the sub unit, it's on my channel for playlist for Japan Reports if you're interested, have a great day, and keep up the great work. 😊😇🥰😇😊
I was so into Morning Musume in my late teens and twenties I stopped listening to them sometimes around the 11th gen because I became very uncomfortable with the ages of the girls but Gen 4 was my absolute favorite when I came into the fandom i feel old now
Hello! Project really thought the brand would survive kicking the most popular members of their golden generation like Aibon and specially Maki. Then AKB48 buried them forever. The girls they have now have very little personality in comparison to the old generations and dont have the entirety of media around the product to showcase the members like they had before.
Again a huge CyberGhostVPN for sponsoring the video. You can check out the offer through the link below!

I have a request: Is ATARASHII GAKKO Japanese fascism? Please comment.
Their lore is so deep and amazing wish there were more videos like this morning musume is very underrated
They are like the "OG" for me , happened years before AKB48
Yes! I would love more momusu videos! I started listening to them in 2007 so naturally the Platinum Era is my favorite.
btw the graduation system is started by onyanko club back in the 80s, morning musume indeed the start of new era for japanese idol culture after the 80s golden era, in the 60+ years of japanese idol culture history the forming of morning musume is definitely one of the most important part of it, and their songs is just fun!, fun to sing, fun to listen too
Exactly!
When I heard MM "started the graduation system", I thought..
No, what about the Onyanko Club which started in 1985?
Morning Musume is the OG! I still come back around to see what they're up to from time to time...
More videos on them please!
Morning Mususme! They were my introduction to Japanese idols back when I was a kid! Would love to have more videos covering them ❤
Morning Musume was the OG for me too. I was like, 13 or something when I discovered them back in 03
More Morning Musume please. Also, please do the duo spin off of W with follow-ups on Tsuji Nozomi and Kago Ai.
The Platinum Era was my introduction to Morning Musume as a whole and idols in general. Will always be my favorite generation.
For me, my favorite time period with the band was from the 4th generation until Hitomi graduated. Glorious music during those years.
Yessss Morning Musume❤❤ Platinum Era serves so hard, current MoMusu is here to serve also💚
One Morning Musume member I liked was Riho Sayashi, who was with the group from 2011 to 2015. In 2019, Riho Sayashi became a touring member of Babymetal, along with Kano Fujihira and Momoko Okazaki.

Though I am an AKB48 enthusiast, my MM oshi is JunJun. She got robbed for her 3 years in HP!
A TsujiKago deep dive, from the audition to what happened to W (and afterward, especially afterward) would be so fascinating
I discovered MM about 5 years ago after a clip of Kamei Eri trying to speak English on their variety show randomly popped up on my recommendations. You can’t talk about them without talking about “Ichiban Kawaii” lol
is this sayumin reference ? xD
Morning Musume and the rest of Hello! project is very interesting to me so much lore behind it. You should make more Hello Project videos surrounding it.
I still remember discovering them about 13 years ago with Resonate Blue
Found Aruiteru soon after...still love that song
I'd like more videos on MoMusu. Maybe highlighting specific eras, or even specific members. Some of them could easily make for an entire episode (talking about the likes of Sayumin, Riho and Marippe).

Honestly feel like there should be a follow on Michi. Would love to know how she's doing now a days.

Finalllyyy 😭🙏 This is the video I've been waiting for such a long time ♥ Thank you for making this
Morning Musume holds a special place in my heart. They were my childhood favorite, and I’ve seen them perform four times live this year. I love them!

My favorite is the Edm era as well
Yes please more Morning Musume videos

Gg for sponsor!
Yeah, I would like a video about Heike! I've been a fan of Morning Musume since 2010 =D
Congrats on getting sponsored John!!
Thank you!
Morning Musume was how I got introduced to idols in the first place
Also I’d be interested in a video about Planck Stars
Seeing who looks very much like Soshina at 7:33 completely confused me. I was thinking he must be a robot or something to look hardly any different now than he did in 1997...

Very interesting to learn about such an influential group. Excellent work. Thank you :)
THAT's why I mix up Morning Musume and Pucchimoni, it's Goto Maki. And now I have Seishun Jidai 1-2-3 on my brain again
I would love more videos on Momusu!
Dude I remember when I was a foreign exchange student in 2000 and everyone loved goto maki. Now I know why. My host brother had a huge poster of her and I remember him saying “I love her” in broken English when I first went into his room 😅
let’s go first sponsor 🎉🎉
WE ARE BRAND NEW MORNING
Ive only gotten into Morning Musume recently listening to their earliest music but there's much I'd like to learn!
Shout if you saw their movie Morning Cop: Daite Hold on Me! featuring their (imo) best track in the title

More morning musume videos pleaseeee
Please continue more on Morning Musume
as a former mega H!P fan from 2008-2020 i like this video
What happened to you after 2018?
@@handel1111 actually its 2020 ! i was big fan of c-ute and they disbanded in 2017 then koobushi factory happened and became a fan so i kept going cuz i love the girls then kobushi disbanded i lost my interest in the entire company cuz all my fav groups and girls are gone also management change played a role
wooooooooooooooooooo thank you so much

Dude do the Iida Kaori bus tour story, that shit was hilarious
I love Morning Musume along with the other groups from HelloProject :)
Oh, I remember these ones! Found out about them from a comic.
Yes...
_a comic_
Hmm a SHINING comic perhaps?
RAAHHHHH MORNING MUSUME 🔥🗣🗣🗣
*A video about Heike Michiyo, please~!!! Greetings from a Momusu fan from Perú ^^♪►*
please do an episode about their crazy funny TV show Hello Morning.

@Nihonjohn thank you hehe
After the colourful ki i felt like it's more like masa-ki rather than mizu-ki. I like hello pro the best at that time.
AAAA MOMUSUUUUU VIDDDD
they are not underrated; they are the biggest GG before akb48 takeover the scene. they fall cause of mismanagement, false pride, marketing to wrong audiences. they even tried to sell lies like saying members only listen to Hello Project music. unlike akb48 which are more relatable to mass people
Great that you finally have a sponsorship!
But Proton VPN is better.
Maybe I need to make a video about “reading the air” 🤔
Looks like you have to do a hello project one now.
I'm wondering why you chose such a clickbait title for this video that is actually informative and well researched. It's quite the opposite of underdog to be as popular as Momusu were at the time of Ai no Tane.

I might give it a shot now that I see you know what you're talking about. Still, I hope you can maybe take this as something to consider.
That being said, I'm eager to see what the next Era will be named and everything Momusu still will do. Been following since ~2009.

Could you make a video about Morning Musume member Kagochan?
For me, its Haruka Kudo.
Please do AKB48 group❤
Even Japanese women I talk to that don’t like idol groups like them and their songs
they got overtook by AKB48 & now AKB48 also not that popular anymore.
I love Morning Musume, but their songs have really gone downhill lately. I wish they would try out different concepts.
