This verse makes me feel like He’s giving me a hug because He knows I’m having a hard time but I still have to go through it. Like a kid being dropped off at preschool or something
And this is why I feel compelled to start every morning by stepping out my back door into my tiny garden and say my prayer of thanks, open my whole being to His love, and open my eyes to the small signs of beauty, benevolence and joy I can see around me, rain, storm, sunshine: no difference. Thank you, Bishop Tom!
“Let us therefore learn to hope in You again and again.” I needed to hear this message this morning, to be reminded that the Lord is my portion and to hope in His new mercies every morning. I’m going through a dark time and needed encouragement. Thank you.
Your words are like poem written within the Bible. I love that you joyfully expect the mysteries that God brings in the dark places. I love Jeremiah and Lamentations, but I cry deep groaning tears as God’s people suffer. Even so, as with Isaiah, Malachi, Habakkuk, Daniel, and others, in the midst God issues a promise. His mercies are new every morning, but even better He is with us, watching over us, loving us….in the midst. Our job? Hold on.
Hello Dr. Wright! I'm missing my weekly Bible studies with you here on RUclips. I imagine life is busy right now with the start of a new term or something. I hope you are healthy and well. Blessings.
Hello! Prof. Wright is doing well and we're anticipating more videos here soon. Our team will be back in Oxford soon for more filming and we're launching a new N.T. Wright course later this month. Stay tuned and thanks for being here!
Well done, Tom. I remember in my first year as a pastor, I visited an elderly lady whose husband of 60 years had died the day before. She opened the door and said, "His mercies are new every morning." I saw the shaft of light break though her redden eyes.
I love my devotions with you sir. Especially today as I was releases from a stay at the hospital with a brand new ailment ... Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) ❤️ 💙. I told the Doctors & nurses I wasn't worried because my heart belongs to Jesus. Your devotions are encouraging and uplifting.... just what we need in this world today. ❤❤❤🎉
N.T. Wright does not personally monitor this channel, but your feedback is appreciated! We're glad to hear that the teachings are blessing you. We are grateful for our supporters who make this possible. Keep enjoying and I hope you continue to be blessed! --NTW Online Team
This passage gives me hope. I've been caregiving full-time for my parents (now parent) for more than 2.5 years. God told me it would be hard, but I had no idea how intense and sorrowful it would be. Lamentations and Psalms have been like companions these last months; I'm beginning to understand the importance of both lamenting and praising in our walk with the Lord. Thank you for this beautiful illumination of Lamentations 3:22-24. How encouraging! Please don't stop the READING SCRIPTURE TOGETHER series. It is a huge blessing to so many of us, especially if we must be home so much of the time. Peace.
It must be difficult to be caregiver alongside with grief and other stressors. May God continue to fill you with hope and give you strength for each day.
I believe the Lord is telling me to be grateful today. It's devotional that I have done this morning, all separate from one another, have been saying, you be grateful. I think I will🙏🏻🕊💙 😊
When things are really bleak I get thrown back to God. And God alone. I walk with a family who recently suffered several suicides. Those surviving might draw hope on the “Lord’s compassions that never fail. They are new every morning” I will point that out. 🙏
Professor nt Wright. I thoroughly enjoy your teachings on atonement, kingdom of God, and resurrection. I have been wrestling with some traditional view of scripture and always think of you as another believer who does not shrink back from pursuing knowing God and Christ truly and accurately from scripture and prayer. Here is my question to you When Christ says that we are to be born again can He be referring to believers in their glorified bodies at the resurrection? And maybe the baptism of the Holy Spirit are believers placed in Christ as a baby is “baptized” within the womb of his/her mother? There are more questions/thoughts on the matter but for the sake of not making this post longer. This is the general idea
Powerful and digestible insight here. Thank you

Thank you. I needed that reminder today!

Well said . Yes these verses are in the middle of judgement and death , God gives hope and shows his wonderful heart.
We can take encouragement in the heart of God. This is, indeed, our true hope. Thank you for sharing your reflections. --NTW Online Team
Beautiful and important reminder to go to God each morning to receive the new mercies God has for us.
Amen and amen
Grateful for the reminder and encouragement of God’s mercies when everything seems lost and hopeless. Belt of Truth.
Glory be to the Lord almighty
Indeed, we come to HIm everyday in prayer and worship because there is always something new to learn from our Lord
His timing is perfect too. This was much needed today. Thank you for hearing and sharing.
We appreciate the encouraging words!
I love Harris, but the most wonderful experience was when I caught a train from Inverness to Edinburgh…every moment was a heavenly vision.
Always insightful, profound, and refreshing. Like a cup of cold water on a dry hot day. Thank you Professor Wright.
Hope is the fixed assurance that our stories move to a good end. I find mine in the resurrection of Jesus.
I really appreciate Toms short inspirational messages - thank you for making your work so assessable
