This lesson certainly provided evidence that the Old Testament is all about Jesus. I am grateful for this opportunity to understand where in the Old Testament there are these references to the Incarnation and Jesus himself.

These tidbit studies are the crumpets for the ‘spots’ of tea that set the day right. Fascinating message on the Davidic throne / good shepherd passage in Ezekiel . And if I may we must add of course David’s Ps. 23 proclamation acknowledging the good shepherd leading us all into his glorious fold. Thank you so much for breaking loaves of the living word as our daily bread !!

    Beautiful! Thank you.
The more I’ve delved into the Old Testament, the more I recognize how I was robbed! In my early education - Such a disservice to have been taught (almost!) exclusively ‘about’ the New, without the critical base of the Old…

He is also the stream of living water which flows from our innermost being when we are full of the Holy Spirit!
"He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)" John 7:38, 39

By possessing this prophecy, the Jews were prepared to understand Jesus' claims.
Muslims claim that all prophets brought exactly the same message: return to one God.
It is important then to explain to them that this is true, but is not ALL they spoke. We must open their eyes to the "Progressive Revelation." This prepares them to understand what Jesus fulfilled, as the Jews did.
Friends, consider: Jews have the news of Jesus in the Old Testament, yet reject him.
Muslims do not have this light in their book. Therefore, please join with me in greater sympathy with Muslims. Befriend them and learn ways to share truth with them. They will come to Christ!

@@NTWrightOnline both embrace the concept of the Bible being an epic story with many threads developing over time. One of those threads is what Heiser would call the messianic profile: the various concepts established in the Old testament that are fulfilled in the new with Jesus. Also, I know Wright had at least one cordial interaction with Heiser at a conference a few years back.

    Wonderful connection!
Isn't this one-on-one shepherding what Paul called "the faith of Abraham?" Didn't we also see this echoed with Moses and the prophets? But the people-at-large resisted, the Bible says. “Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die," they told Moses (Ex. 20:19). I would make clear that this personal connection with "the Shepherd" isn't a new thing that came with the Gospel. But Jesus DID make it plain-and now to a wider audience (the whole world).
Makes me question why the church encourages people to keep relying on pastors, priests-even departed saints-to do what the one true God always intended for himself (John 17:3).

There’s the king of the south consisting of Judah, Benjamin, & priestly class, then there’s the king of the north consisting of the other ten tribes, then there’s the kings of the nations. In Daniel ch11 we see a king of the south, north, and a third king seems to appear and take over. 😮 Could this verse be a prophecy of the Zionist movement?
    Prophecy
    Daniel 11:14 (JPS)
14 And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south; also the children of the violentᴴ⁶⁵³⁰ among thy people shall lift themselves up to establish the vision; but they shall stumble.
    Daniel 11:14 (KJV)
14 And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbersᴴ⁶⁵³⁰ of thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall.
    H6530 (Strong)
    פְּרִיץ
    perı̂yts
    per-eets'
From H6555; violent, that is, a tyrant: - destroyer, ravenous, robber.
    Total KJV occurrences: 6
