I was never too much into making BBQ, but I really enjoy these behind the scenes looks. So much more than I thought went into it. Keep up the good work!
You did a great job on all your cooks👍🏽 . Everything looked so delicious you were getting me hungry and my mouth watery. I really liked your Drum Smokers had never seen them at work good video on it. Lots of competitors and you are a champ. You and your wife are winners.
Great looking boxes! Seemed like a great event. I do have a question. What size pan are you using when you wrap the brisket? I find the half pans too small and full size too big for the drum. I have a Bronco Pro and homemade 22 inch UDS. Thanks!
Got it. Thank you. By the way, we have a competition at the end of September and run a similar timeline. Would you mind sharing the turn in times from this event?
@@GulfCoastSmoke appreciate the info. Ours is similar except for ribs @230 and brisket @4. Will probably still keep same timeline. Again, appreciate your time.
I wish I was back at Lost Lagoon! Such a fun event!

Excellent job and video. Keep grinding, it will come when you least it expect it.
I appreciate you my man! We ain’t stopping!
I always do a layer of belle, light layer of hotspitality, and then a healthy layer of hospitality. Such a great combo.
Such a great combo!! I love it bro!
Can’t wait to go back!!
Me either!
Awesome work, one of these days would be awesome to get a step by step for brisket on the drum
I can do that! I’ll get it done at one of our upcoming comps!
🔥looking boxes brotha! 👊🤙

That Banner from LTA Competition BBQ at 7:29 was looking kind of Spiffy with that GCS logo on it!!!
Yes sir!!
Great video!! I luv the comp content
I appreciate you my man!!
That just makes me hungry. 😁🤗
Everything was incredible!
Some killer looking boxes dude!
Thank you my brother!
Really like your videos, have watched most of them. You using prime or wagyu brisket in your comps? They look great!!!
It depends on what I find, but I’m completely down with a nice prime! Glad you’re enjoying the videos!
This is a great video. Your brisket had a nice shine to it, without being overly saucy. Are you mixing sauce with the foil juices?
Yes sir EXACTLY! Thank you!
I saw a lot of people walking.. that was for sure a tough crowd to cook against.. I love the look of your boxes
Those are the funnest ones to go to! I'll keep going!
@@GulfCoastSmoke oh 100%. I have cooked against Phil, Jason Sagmiller, Robert Smith, and alot of those guys a ton of time in Texas
I love seeing those dudes drive into the event!
@@GulfCoastSmoke for sure. Man I wish you were coming to the royal
@@SmokeSergeantBBQ Me too, bro! Next year!
Good Job bro!
Thanks my dude!
I am enjoying you're journey
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching!
Without giving too much of your secrets away…what is the base of that liquid you poured in with the ribs on the initial wrap?
It might be the last time you use the drum barrel smoker.
Love these competition vlogs. For at home, do you guys prefer the gateway or the wsm? I recently got a WSM from my wife for my bday and love it.
Thank you! I prefer the WSM tbh. Thinking of bringing it out next comp!
Question what does the basket u use for brisket do? Is it for shape or to handle brisket easier
Both! I use it to keep its shape while it’s cooking but also so I can easily move it around!
@@GulfCoastSmoke thanks man. I'm getting back into comps and ur showing me stuff I never knew. Thx for tips and ur time
I got you, bro!
Where do you get those screens?

They are actually half pans! I trim my brisket pretty small for competitions!!

@@danjor45 12 Chicken, 1 Ribs, 2 Pork, 3 Brisket!

I thought you had to keep the money muscle intacted with the pork shoulder?
You do not, no sir!
@@GulfCoastSmoke Sounds good, I will remember that on the next comp.
You out your ribs meat side down what changes 😅
I think the judges are over Blues hog.
I got something up my sleeve! Let’s just say I don’t disagree!
Interesting. Are they leaning more savory?
Lezzz goooooo
My brotha!!
