This is not a remix. It's the original song - unedited from 1977; video is just clips of her in concert. Donna sang all the vocal harmonies in the song on the recording.
The song was from the concept album I Remember Yesterday (1977). The song was the final song of the album, and was intended to represent the future. The album concept was a musical journey through time, to the present day and the future. In the US the song was initially the "b" side to the R & B single release Can't We Just Sit Down (and talk it over). This is the original album cut.
I am a major DS fan, I love all the music she created. She was definitely the Queen of Disco and more! As such, we should expect no less than greatness from her music. As a teen in the seventies, she kept my ears glued to the radio and record player. I don't know much about the technical structuring, nor recording but I immensely enjoy her songs to this date. DS could always be counted on for delightful songs and concerts.
The concert video was from a TV show called The Midnight Special. Someone just re-edit the video and posted on RUclips. But the song is from the original album version, there was a 12inch disco mix which was longer. Then in the early 80s it was remixed again to over 15min long, and the song has been remixed a dozen or more times since its released. With it recently covered by Sam Smith and Beyonce interpretation of it for her song Summer Renaissance. The song is best played in the clubs with a nice sound system. Each left and right speaker channel has a different sound coming out of it. So when you are in a room with the speakers apart it sounds great and with the bass moving through you. Because hearing it on a phone or a Bluetooth speaker that's in mono won't do it justice.
The reason it's hard to believe it's not a more modern remix of an older song is because this song was intended to be, and was, a futuristic song. Indeed, it was the first techno song to achieve wide acclaim. Brian Eno, who was working with David Bowie, after hearing it for the first time, burst into the studio were David Bowie was sitting and said "I've just heard the future." He was correct.
RIP Donna Summers. The diva from Boston MA. I remember when this song came out, I was 19 years old and Donna's song "Love to love you" came out a few years before and that was a big hit. But there was something about "I feel love" that was different than any other song or music by anyone during that time. Many young people today still can't believe that this song came out in 1977 and this version was not remixed it is exactly, as it was in 1977. One of the reasons why this song was so advanced was, because it was written and produced by Giorgio Moroder who had been experimenting with electronic music for about 10 years prior to "I feel love" I guess Giorgio was pushing for a futuristic sound. I think that the sound was more like the beginning trance music, that did not develop until 30 years later. And Donna Summers unleashed her inner Marilyn Monroe to create that very seductive sound. And the backup singer help to reinforce those seductive notes. This song had very little to do with lyrics, because it was all about the sound it created and hypnotic and euphoric experience that you get while listening.
The guy in the back the drummer you call him. He is using a pair of 'slapsticks'... Ever wondered where the term slapstick comedy comes from... Well, it's from the devices in his hand.
The video is a bit of a mash up of a couple of live performances. And there is some repeat clips used. But the song is unedited, well it's the 'studio edit' the one that's on her album. There's other videos where she is live on stage singing and doing the moves...
It’s the original 1977 long edit. The song was part of a concept album as “the song in the future”. It later got credited for the birth of electronica and techno music popular in the 90s. Link to the back story. ruclips.net/video/_W5mjN-azuM/видео.html

Such a cool track. I might do Can't we sit down sometime on the channel. But it might only be in the new year.
One of the GREAT dance tracks!!
She is the only vocalist to always give me goosebumps. Her voice is the best.
I love how sensual this song is!❤️🔥🙀
This is the original 1977 mix aligned to a live performance video. 45 years ago!

Have you EVER heard a more soaring, sensual, sweet, strong voice in all of your life! I know I haven't. The woman is pure ecstasy to my ears.

Original Mix. I danced to this song in my teenage years. :)

The drummer is not just waving his arms in the air, he is actually using an instrument and creating a swoosh sound. Look and watch closely.
OOOOOOOH ok lol my eyes aren't so great lol
LOL😄
Here's wishing Dollar Summer a happy birthday December 31st is her actual birthday may she rest in peace.

I was 5 years old ty for the video! ☺♥
My pleasure 😊
Until seeing this I had assumed Moroder had used sequencers BUT it appears (on this clip at least) he played the synth lines by hand
No that’s just how it was recorded

The drummer was a actually using a percussive instrument that makes a noise when you shake it, not sure the exact name of said instrument
