Genius.
But it didn't work for me, the white plastic yoke beneath the spring plate is broken... I can't prove this is the root cause, but nothing else appears to be wrong.
The disassembly instructions are very good!

Mine had a small white plastic piece broken inside the switch

I had to replace mine but it was because the plastic was cracking and the stalk almost broke off at the base
